Richard Hammond recently drove the latest BMW M3 and shared his thoughts on DriveTribe. Enjoy! I like Hammond but in terms of car insight that was as satisfying as a chef handing you a single cheese wotsit on a side plate.

Hammonds drivetribe stuff is rarely much of a car review, he uses them as an excuse for think pieces as in this one or has an idea for an advert for whatever sponsor and writes a video he can slot that into... Also like in this one. He definitely isn't interested on doing proper consumer advice, even on farily exotic cars. Not really new, actual car reviews that were properly about the car and not a musing on broader car culture/history or an excuse for a set piece were fairly few and far between on TGT and even latter day Top gear

I assume you mean an advertisement for that car ECU reader thing? Because this was certainly NOT an ad for the new M3 at all. The tone alone should make that clear lol

Hilarious. But my point still stands, I didn't come out of that video wanting a new model M3.. quite the opposite actually. Anecdotal I know, but that's why I still don't think it was. If anything it seemed more like a good excuse to make a video to insert the sponsor ad moment into. I very much doubt BMW would be so happy to share a dedicated ad video for their new model M3 with some random piss knows who ECU reader company.

Yeah compare this to him driving a 911 gts (where he bought it personally), a the Dakar (where he says he wishes he bought it instead of his turbo), or James carrera t where again, he bought one, this review is far from glowing. He highlights how expensive and heavy it is. Unrelated, this has to be the most boring spec m3 I’ve ever scene.
