Father in law was a painter/decorator. He knows more about paints and shit than anyone out there.
My wife learned tons about paints and painting from him.
So now when she goes "this wall needs some colour" she goes, buys the paint she wants, and does it herself.
With me being used as kind of a donkey to move furniture or hold a ladder.

Because Thats a little something called worshipping money/productivity. You can abandon god but that doesn't mean the structure you exist in disappears too.
In the case of a wife. Her respect might be founded upon the husbands productivity. So when that is percieved to be threatened. It's not just rage at productivity but the emotions of losing respect too. This is just wrong in this context. This isn't exclusive to marriage either. Your parents or close ones can go through similar feelings if they are basing their will off productivity.
There is a lot of evil people out there. Including trolls in relationships. So you can't use this to judge from the outside. Sometimes the husband might really just be doing something wrong. If you want to learn to distinguish what is worshipping money. Reading the bible is the easiest/purist way. The christian scriptures if you must start somewhere.

My wife wanted to paint and her mom loves painting so much that she made us include her.
In-laws drove in with a bottle of wine, painted with us for 4-5 hours, I fed them some leftovers, and then they drove home.
It was easy as hell.

Spring for higher quality paint - it makes a huge difference and keeps its sheen and vibrancy way longer. And whatever you do, donāt fuckin dilute it like Iāve seen even some contractors do.

Water based/latex paint can be thinned with water because water is the solvent used. Itās a valid option when using a HVLP spray gun as latex paints tend to be too thick to spray on evenly. (Not needed for airless sprayers) You just need to do more coats to get enough film thickness.

When i was young and living with parents it was not uncommon to be involved in not-voluntary moving of furniture. Reason being - mom wanted something new. But those furniture were put back in place usually after 6-18.months and then repeat.

We (entire family) painted the walls recently because we completely rearranged two rooms and thought "eh, why not do it now?" and we won't repaint them for at least a decade, if not longer. The last time we painted the walls before this was about 12 years ago and it was perfectly fine, there's genuinely no difference after painting, we could've just not done it
Oh and anon also needs to learn how to paint, it's not hard. It shouldn't smell like paint for several days
