He has two assault charges. Please be nice. What places would hire someone with charges like this? He’s been looking for over a year and he’s losing hope.

Start a handyman business. Advertise on FB, Nextdoor, and respond quickly to calls or text, be honest with them, and let them know you have a past, but tell them you are willing to do all the little stuff they need done FAR cheaper than Mr. Handyman. Set your rate low enough people will use you, but every so often, increase your rate so you can eventually get ahead.

It’s usually general labor construction, but sometimes other work. Expect it to be all manual labor. It’s a starting point and the jobs are daily, but you also get paid the same day. Make sure he works hard and there’s a good chance he’ll get repeats for the same job making it a little more consistent.
