Ferrari Luce - Influencer Take

Mkbhd made a video about the Ferrari Luce giving an excuse for Ferrari Luce design due to being electric .
I'm not convinced of this excuse that the Ferrari Luce proportions or dimensions had to be like this due to the battery. I think the car is just ugly, under designed and their excuse is not valid. Ferrari needs to look at the Porsche Taycan design to learn and comeback with better result, the Luce is not up to the Ferrari badge .
Beardedwrench115@reddit
I wonder if it would be as hated if it was sold as a Maserati or Alfa Romeo (and at like half the price or less)
zeth0s@reddit
Maserati yes, alfa they need some improvements but it could be a weird giulietta. 40k max
r00000000@reddit
Tbh most ppl expect Alfa or Maserati to be kinda overpriced new and fast depreciating, same for EVs, so I could see this not being as hated even if it was like a $100-150k Alfa/Maserati, at worst it would be like a Prelude-tier meme for this sub but it wouldn't have garnered the hate it does from the general public like the Luce does, which I haven't seen of any car ever.
zeth0s@reddit
Imho it is too bland for a maserati, or a 100k alfa. Exteriors good for a 40k alfa

That guy needs to stick to Apple products and speeding in school zones. He has no business reviewing cars.
Much-Artichoke-476@reddit
Why does he have no business reviewing cars? He likes cars, he likes tech, both can combine.
Recoil42@reddit
This is an Apple product.
an_actual_lawyer@reddit
For real. If it was a $40,000 Apple appliance car, it would have probably had some buzz, but a $400,000 Ferrari?
JC-Dude@reddit
0 chance an Apple car would be just $40k.
aprtur@reddit
One order of magnitude more, if the Euro price is a guide - at least $640,000 + Ferrari's tariff add-on to the sticker.
hi_im_bored13@reddit
Others have already covered the bit where this is an Ive product & so he's particularly well-suited to reviewing it, But I will say I like his car reviews in general precisely because he has no business reviewing cars
I can read the spec sheet myself, I can go get a test drive, there are dozens of enthusiast reviewers out there already, but he is one of the only ones who goes over e.x trip/charge planning integration in the infotainment, digital key implementations, adas performance, preheating, etc
& thats especially important with these EVs because like half the reason I'd buy one is the electric bit & half these manufacturers (e.x. lucid) cannot manage to get a key working
Pitiful-Mobile-3144@reddit
In his defense for this particular issue, this car is as close to an Apple designed car as we’re going to get
MogosTheFirst@reddit
Porsche Taycan.
If they wanted, they could've done an amazing EV.
Orchidkit@reddit
Idk man, Porches Taycan still cool even its electric
Luce is just Ugly
gregbesia@reddit
Fuck that guy. He is not an influencer. He is a POS who speeds in school zones.
Wolfo93@reddit
He was just a glorified Ferrari PR officer masquerading as 'journalist' in that video
Immediate_Bee_6472@reddit
How many people on this sub complaining are gonna or can buy this car ?
I kno there’s some but for the amount of hate I see from people who don’t have the means to purchase it
Ferrari will make more cars this one is just not for you and if people actually defend it or like the car the mob tells you ..you cannot
hi_im_bored13@reddit
I will say I know a good few folks with current Ferraris who also want nothing to do with it,
granted these are not the type of folks who will buy anything to go up the allocation list, they get one or two then tick of the box & call it a life, I'm sure there are plenty of folks in that category who will somehow justify one
but I've never seen a car so unanimously hated by everyone I know, online or irl, enthusiast or not, rich or poor
Immediate_Bee_6472@reddit
I’m in no way able to purchase one I’m just genuinely curious how well they will do
If this was a a gas car design or the next design for a gas car how would it do then ? Being a ev narrows down buyers
hi_im_bored13@reddit
At least from what I've heard within that circle, which again obviously isn't representative of every ferrari buyer, it would do equally bad, everyone had a major issue with the design
However, if it was a gas car, it also wouldn't look like that in the first place, they'd get away with a far wider, more angular design w/ little care towards efficiency. Realistically that ends up somewhere between the Purosangue & Amalfi, both of which look fantastic & sell well
Puff-Daddy-Sun@reddit
I hate the Luce but not because I hate the car. I love the interior and don’t mind how it looks, I think it’s practical and fun. I hate that it’s a $650,000 Ferrari and not a $50k Honda. It makes absolutely no sense. I am struggling to see any reason this should cost more than $100k. Do we think these crash on the secondary market like the Taycans hitting the 30s? Or will they stay six figures just because of the Ferrari badge?
FalloutRip@reddit
You and I are on the same page.
If this was a $50-60k Honda, toyota, etc. I wouldn't have any issues with it really. But at 11x that amount? From a brand known for making absolutely gorgeous sports and grand touring cars? absolutely massive miss and failure by Ferrari to read the room.
As for value, it's hard to say. Ferrari are very protective of their brand, so anyone looking to get onto future procurement lists may be squeezed to buy one, and ferrari won't like them trying to sell it later for pennies on the dollar. Ironically I could see it becoming rare/ expensive decades down the road solely because no one wants them now.
lurpeli@reddit
Just because it's an EV doesn't mean it has to look like weird, rounded, "futursitic", shit. Like... make it look like a fucking Ferrari how bout?

Bullshit. Guy will kowtow to any brand with the cash to hire him.
It’s entirely possible to design an electric hypercar that doesn’t look like the love child of a Honda and an egg. Rimac built the Concept One (insert shed and box of scraps joke here) and the Nevera, both of which are incredibly sleek. The Taycan looks brilliant in all three variants, even the final facelift of the Model S grew on me.
Jony Ive needs to stick to phones and watches.
austic@reddit
The more i see this car the more i think i am understanding it. This is not a car for people who like car and sports cars like Ferrari. This is a car who see cars as a utility and want to flex on other silicon valley nerd with a ferrari badge. The thinking with ferrari is this will help them meet the draconian EU emissions bullshit and maybe keep making the great cars we love. They should have launched this and a sweet sports car at the same time to show the consumers they are only doing this becasue they have to.
-FARTHAMMER-@reddit
They could have made look not like a shitty Chinese car. Shit even their shitty cars look cool. It's like the little tykes car and did a reimagining of it.
03Void@reddit
The Prius looks more like a Ferrari than the Ferrari Luce. It being electric is no excuse.
throw_me_away3478@reddit
EVs can have insanely sexy proportions because packaging is much easier
tonytwocans@reddit
Yeah it’s obviously not true since there are plenty of EV’s with better proportions like the Taycan, SU7, E Tron GT.
Recoil42@reddit
Most of those have lower Cd/CdA, too. It's very obviously nonsense.
J_NonServiam@reddit
Rimac Nevera too. EV and looks awesome.
ikilledtupac@reddit
He will make any video you pay him to make
Walter_Stonkite@reddit
It’s a monstrosity. Design language is subjective but (electric or otherwise) what can’t be excused is a vehicle wearing a Ferrari badge and not looking remotely luxurious. It’s almost reminiscent of what you’d see being built in sheds by cottage industry type British marques throughout the years.
Ok_Two_2604@reddit
It isn’t meant for you. We’ll see if it sells in China to determine if it is ugly or not.
FalloutRip@reddit
There are plenty of EV sports cars that don’t look like a bar of soap, so his excuse is as hollow as his apology for speeding in a school zone.
mgobla@reddit
Hyundai Ioniq 6 , Dodge Charger sedan EV, Lucid Air, etc all look much better with nicer proportions. And they have to be built at a much lower cost.
Maserati Gran Turismo Folgore EV and many other EVs look the same as the gas versions, share the same body.
I don't like chinese cars, they are way overrated bc there are tons of paid influencers online , but ignoring all of that plenty of their big EV sedans look better than the Luce.
There are no excuses for Ferrari.
hockeyjmac@reddit
Mkbhd was never going to be negative about this car. They picked the people who got access very carefully.
