Brother just bought a Springfield SA35. What do you guys think if it? Is it a good Pistol that's 'underperforming', holding up to, or exceeding expectations since it came out?

The original Browning and FN Hi-Powers are great pistols. I've read that the new era FN Hi-Powers are great despite being pricey.

This is my SA35. But I don't shoot it. lol.
They are a great gun.

Nice

If you can pick up a regular SA35 for about $500-600, they are worth it. It's not the best gun in the world, but they are a workhorse. Very well built.

I'm pretty much set on Beretta 90 Series Pistols and 1911A1 Pistols.

It depends on what you're looking for, really.

You forgot the CZ75.
ZeroPointSpecter@reddit
OP didn't mention the CZ. Just the Beretta 90 Series, 1911A1, and SA‑35.

Whoosh.

Oh fine, I’ll be the one to say it…. the Browning Hi Power (and quality clones) was probably one of the most slept on handguns of the 20th century.

Oh, absolutely. The design is brilliant.
If not for nonsensical politics, the Hi-Power should've been the US Military Sidearm starting in 1946.
The US Military knew that the 9mm was perfectly fine as a service cartridge during WW2. More cost effective as well.

Great platform that is a little dated. For self-defense there are better choices but at the end of the day it is still a 9mm high capacity hand gun. It was designed to be shot one handed - there isn't a ton of room for your support hand if you have large hands. The SA-35 is modeled off the mark III original and is compatible with all the original pistol's aftermarket items. The new FN Hi-Power is a brand new pistol with modern touches and not compatible with the original Hi-Power aftermarket.
I'm eager to see the new Regent (Hi-Power clone) from Tisas as I'm a huge fan of their 1911s. It's supposed to come out this year and have quality of life improvements over the old Regent (extended beaver tail to avoid slide bite, etc..).

The 1911 Series is "dated", but it is simply immortal; a Cult-Classic.
Beretta M92/M9 Series is absolutely the same way now. So many former haters suddenly came to love it in 2021 when the last Military Contract M9 Pistols came off the factory floor.
Neither the 1911 and Beretta 90 Series will die off.
AmnFucker@reddit
That's why I have all 3.

My 1911 and 92FS are my favourite pistols. I'm looking forward to getting a Hi-Power and have been doing a lot of research lately. I'm also old, which probably has something to do with it.

The 90 Series has seen a spike in popularity. Definitely an appreciation factor for it. The platform is now better than ever before.

From what I've heard, they had some teething issues but are solid now. The main issues are just age related. Lower capacity than more modern pistols and no rail for a light, but if you're not looking for the best and newest thing then there's nothing to complain about

Nobody uses 13rd magazines, 15rds is the standard for a compact.
