5 Reasons the Dallas Mavericks Might Not Land Downtown

I’m not saying I’m 100 percent sold on the idea that the Mavericks aren’t giving a good, hard think about a new arena and 50-acre entertainment complex at 1500 Marilla, but I want to point out a few things that make me think that perhaps it’s not the lock everyone thinks it is.

Bet plano cuts a deal with them. They try8ng so hard t9 compete with frisco.

Take it for what it's worth, but the Mavs have repeatedly said they're staying in Dallas.
The Stars, on the other hand ...

I think it’ll either be at the old Valley View Center or the old Texas Stadium location

1 reason tops the list: Adelson Greed
JKinney79@reddit
Cuban Greed before that. He had been grumbling about a new arena before selling the team.

They fund the war criminal in the WH

Cannot believe the AAC is already being replaced. A huge waste of funds for everyone. Sell the team.

PUBLIC TRANSIT RIGHT UP TO THE VENUE? IN TEXAS?!??
yeah we gotta get rid of that yesterday.

The area was developed as they had hoped and whether they can recreate that at the City Hall site or Valley View, Dallas is essentially leveraging a new stadium to spur it.

I wish Dallas were more like NYC in this regard: MSG has been at the same location for ever.

Seriously. The only deficiency in the AAC is the owners inability to earn more money. It’s a great venue for the fans and still in great shape.

The owners make plenty of money in the AAC. They don't make casino money, is their problem.

I used to be mad at the mayor of Dallas Laura Miller, for not bending to Jerry Jones demands in giving him a stadium funded by the tax payers. Now I completely understand and find it disgusting that these billionaires are asking average joes to help build and expand their empires. The AAC really is relatively new, but if they move the team, that puts the final nail for my fandom of any sport. Millionaires and billionaires making out like bandits over kid sports.

You can see the benefits driving through Arlington. Truly the most beautiful parking lots, and not one penny of the money goes back to the city or its residents. What could be better?
And the area around the stadium, just look how vibrant it is! They have a Wal Mart and a Panda Express— within walking distance!! Truly incredible economic development and such a thriving buzzy spot. There’s even a pawn shop and an old gas station!!

The Dallas Mavericks are already downtown in a custom-built entertainment district. If that's what the organization actually wanted they'd be thrilled. But the arena is not in Vegas, and its unlikely that gambling will be legalized anytime soon in Texas, so of course they are unhappy.

Makes no sense to move from the AAC. Remodel it and call it a day.
Additional-Sky-7436@reddit
We already built them two.
Are we on some kind of 25 year stadium subscription plan or something?

pissing everyone off trying to get the Robocop Building knocked down
there's a completely fine stadium right next door currently in use
the city blew it's cred by destroying the whale mural and now everybody hates you.
