I hear they're native to Austin, but do they show up in Dallas a lot? My mom is moving us here and we're all excited, but we've been dealing with one of those creatures for the past week and it's been TERRORIZING US. I just want to know if we're gonna have to be dealing with this a lot more

Can't say I've ever seen one. Maybe if I lived in a wooded area, like the Texas Hill Country or went trail hiking in nature preserve. Even then, I'd be more on the lookout for Copperhead snakes. Wasps and asp caterpillars would be more of my concern at home. I've only seen 1 asp, but their unique look from the top side makes them appear friendly - they are definitely not.

I don't think I've ever encountered one in my home?
Like clean your house & porch often and it shouldn't be a issue in the city.
