Sardinia & Sicily in July/August with a Rooftop Tent: realistic for wild camping?

Hey everyone,
(Also wondering if this question would fit better in another subreddit than r/overlanding?)
I’m looking for feedback from people who have actual summer overlanding experience in Sardinia and/or Sicily, especially in July and early August.
We travel with a rooftop tent and usually prefer wild, remote spots rather than campsites. I have quite a lot of overlanding experience in the Balkans, especially Greece, where it’s been incredibly easy to find beautiful isolated spots with zero issues, often thanks to Park4Night and Google Maps.
In Greece, we regularly end up completely alone in amazing locations by the sea, in the mountains, or deep in nature, without anyone bothering us.
Can I realistically expect a similar experience in Sardinia and Sicily during peak summer season, or is it going to be much more complicated there?
I’ve read mixed things online about wild camping enforcement in Italy, overcrowding in summer, access restrictions, etc., so I’d love to hear real-world experiences from people who actually traveled there in a rooftop tent setup.
Would love any honest feedback, route recommendations, or general advice.
Thanks!

Much more complicated.
We spent 8 weeks in Sardinia in the low season (Feb/March) and it was dead quiet. We did manage to wild camp around the place, but it wasn't super easy. In the busy season it is bursting at the gills, literally.
