When you register your car in person, is car insurance verified?

Long story short, I racked up thousands of toll debt in the past 3 years and I was driving on expired tags since July of last year. It's been 11 months now. I am in poverty and got myself into a huge deep hole, like probably 5000 feet deep. I barely now just got a full time job and have been working there for almost a month and am starting to climb out.
My downpayment is due this coming Monday before the quote expires, but by Saturday I should have that paid and the block lifted.
My insurance expired but can be renewed. The policy number will be the same. If i brought the card, do they call and verify it at the office? Or will they just look at it and ill be on my way?
I am trying hard and fast to get this car fixed so it can be a thing of the past.

I accidentally brought an old card but with the same policy number. I had to go back and get the current one. So, no, you have to have current insurance.

They check your insurance is valid, you can’t register the car with out valid insurance.

Depends on your state. Most states have insurance/dl/registration linked in a database. I can’t remember the last time a cop asked for insurance since it already pops up on their computer when they run my plates.
Also, I should try and get pulled over less.

I believe all of that information is in a state-wide database.
