Suggestions for media created by our people?

Forgive me for the inspiration for this post, but it was watching the first season of Heated Rivalry. Yes, I know it's got a lot of sex in it. But it's also a pretty decent love story, and romance type media is not normally my thing. Actually when my little sister told me the premise I said I thought it sounded like a particularly bad Hallmark movie. 😂
Anyway. I was thinking about what I really liked about it this morning, and I like that it is... So refreshingly like, healthy? There's real conflict but there's also vulnerability and growth and people being emotionally intelligent and self aware. Contrast with romances we grew up watching where it's all people acting obtuse and contrived stuff just to add to the drama.
So I was curious and looked it up. Rachel Reid, the author the books, and Jacob Tierney who adapted it for television were born in 1980 and 1979 respectively. It made me curious to see what other work our people are doing. We were shaped by 80's and 90's artists, but I want to see what we did with it and how we made it ours. Does anyone have any suggestions for other Xennial creators?

Danny McBride - late Gen Xer,
Growing up in a Religious family on the 90’s, so much of the Righteous Gemstones felt nostalgic.

Righteous Gemstones was both hysterical and kind of healing as someone who grew up in an evangelical community (long done with that. thankfully)

Bojack Horseman. Raphael Bob-Waksberg born in 1984.

Hiro Murai! Born in 83, he's produced and directed so many awesome things. Episodes of Atlanta, The Bear, Station Eleven and a newer show Widow's Bay (just started , love it so far). Tons of great music videos, too

Donald Glover wrote on Community and Atlanta.
I highly recommend Atlanta

Atlanta is an all-time great series. No fat on it, perfect cast, they got in and got out without running it into the ground.

Check out the cartoon Close Enough. It's 100% Xennial-coded. The creator J.G. Quintel, and 82 baby, is also the creator of Regular Show, which also has a ton of stuff for people our age.

Cobra Kai was created by Xennials (born in 1977), the Duffer Brothers are technically Xennials. The guy who directed all of the Tom Holland Spider Man movies was born in 1981.

Try Gravity Falls if you like animated stuff. Creator is an '85 baby. It's like if X-Files and Twin Peaks had a family friendly cartoon baby.

Based on the references, I suspect Dungeon Crawler Carl is Xennial created. It just says "born in the 70s" so I can't verify without becoming a stalker
It's also possible that you're responding to HR because it's Canadian media. Try Schitt's Creek, Kim's Convenience, Corner Gas, Letter Kenny, Trailer Park Boys, Shelved, Mile End Kicks, and I Like Movies. If you want to go big, Murdoch Mysteries. Our stuff tends to hit a little differently in the way it portrays interpersonal relationships. You can even see the differences in our trashy reality tv - compare an episode of Masterchef Canada or Amazing Race Canada to the american version.

I think Dinniman is Gen X, but DCC is indeed xennial bait.

You might also like Letterkenny and Shoresy. Also made by Jacob Tierney and Jared Keeso (1984).
