Heartrate while flying as pax

Does anyone else monitor their heartrate while flying? I feel like mine gets absurdly high.
I am mid 20s, male, used to be extremely athletic and am now moderately. I noticed if I am flying even comfortably HR is 90-100, 110-120 if I've had alcohol. This all makes sense bc of altitude and lower oxygen, but how does this compare to others? Seems a bit high
Share if you can☺️

You must be nervous. Pilot here. My HR is maybe 5% higher at altitude. Nothing noticeable. Only time I notice my HR actually higher according to my watch is sleeping in Mexico City at 7,800 feet. Not as much of a dip as at sea level.

I am not is the thing... Sitting back relaxed watching a movie and feel fine, heart is just way up. Happens pretty consistently too maybe 3/4 of the flights

You're just lying to yourself about anxiety.
Heavy_Team7922@reddit
If you’re this heart rate obsessed then there’s definitely a degree of anxiety

Just looked at my two most recent flights. Mid 50s the whole time. That’s a tad bit above my normal 45-50 when resting seated, but not much.

What a subtle flex
NapsInNaples@reddit
It’s not much of a flex. Just my physiology (my wife says I’m a lizard person). I have a friend with a RHR of 80, who can kick my ass at every fitness related thing you can think of…RHR just doesn’t mean too much in absolute terms.

My resting rate may be like 10bpm faster at altitude but nothing crazy. I’ve also got well over 10k hours at altitude over 20 years.

I had an Apple Watch during heavy turbulence last year,I got the alert lol for high heft rate but I am a pretty anxious person in general
wymysl88@reddit
Got a few high HR alerts on my Apple Watch during approach. Must be the nerves :)
HPPD2@reddit
are you not just anxious flying? cabin altitude is only 6-8k feet which is just below where most people notice altitude sickness, so you would need to be very sensitive to pressure changes.
manderson__007@reddit (OP)
Not anxious at all. That's the thing. Super comfortable and agreed not that high, but was just assuming that's the issue
HPPD2@reddit
it could be, some people claim they feel altitude arriving in denver or abq at 5kish but thats usually after moving around. 8k can definitely be noticeable but again that's moving around not sitting in a seat.

Maybe I do just need to drink more water. In pretty in touch with my body, drink plenty of fluids and workout and all. Hike over 10k in elevation pretty regularly. Glad I'm not crazy for thinking about this HR

when I had a garmin watch it had an altimeter which was fun to see cabin pressure, wish I could find it
fenuxjde@reddit
I wear a pixel watch that tracks my breathing, heart rate, blood o2, heart rate variability, etc.
It tells me everything is in range while flying.
Resting hr in the mid 60s. Maybe goes up to mid 80s tops while flying.

I am jealous, are you very athletic?
fenuxjde@reddit
Not terribly. I lift and I've done a few triathlons.
Just do something every day to be active. I make sure I hit 10,000 steps a day. Anything else is just a bonus.
