This is our newest unrelenting positivity post.
The state in question is the great state of Delaware.
To all our foreign friends give a shout ask questions send praise. To our Americans do the same.
Ask questions, share stories, make jokes. Just remember not to be a jerk.
Recall the famous phrase my grandma invented “if you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say anything that isn’t redemptively funny.”
Stay tuned for 42/50 after this one. Only a few more.
The states are in random order based on my whim at the moment. Today’s whim is Caesar Rodney and the address on all my bank statements.

Is there another state that has fighting chickens for a mascot? No, no there is not!

If you're an American corporation, Delaware is your favorite place in the whole country. There's another Reddit thread today about a court finding that the municipalities in the state which allow corporations to vote may continue to do so.

Delaware is called the "First State" because it was the first of the original thirteen colonies to ratify the United States Constitution on December 7, 1787.
Building_a_life@reddit
The reason Delaware was in such a hurry is that it also ratified their independence from Pennsylvania. In colonial times, they were the "three lower counties" of that state.
CrownStarr@reddit
As my Delawarean wife always says, "First state best state."

The Delaware beaches are lovely, and it has several beautiful National Wildlife Refuges.

We were the first state to completely ban child marriage… in 2018.

Dela where?? The Bottle & Cork in Dewey Beach is a classic beach-town music venue. The beach towns in DE are all slightly different flavors and they're all worth a visit. If you hate having a basement, there are lots of housing options.

In the name of positivity, today, Delaware exists.
It's not a myth. It's a state.

Delaware has Rehoboth Beach. It's laid back, clean, and your purchases aren't subject to sales tax.
ucbiker@reddit
Rehoboth is a bit uppity but the nearby towns tend to be pretty laidback. Dewey was better for partying but I got too old for that like 5 years ago.
CupBeEmpty@reddit (OP)
Have a buddy from Rehoboth in MA. He refers to himself as a Rehobo. He also gets super annoyed that DE steals their thunder.

Possibly the single most referenced moment by Gen X kids driving along the east coast states.

Sadly the bridge in the postcard from Wayne's World has been replaced
Outlaw_Josie_Snails@reddit
In my twenties and thirties, we spent a lot of time at the Bethany Beach, Rehoboth Beach, and Dewey Beach shore towns. We used to go to many music venues in Dewey.
I enjoyed taking the Cape May-Lewes Ferry boat ride from Cape May, New Jersey, into Lewes, Delaware, which is a 17-mile trip. You can take your car onto the ferry as well.

Home of tax-free shopping!
CupBeEmpty@reddit (OP)
You mean NH just over the border for all your big ticket items?
Technical_Unit_9770@reddit
Exactly. The Apple Store used to claim it sold more iPhones than any other store.
RepresentativeAir735@reddit
We must be awesome because our roads are packed with cars from PA, NJ, and MD. And, the population has more than doubled since 1990.
But, the cool thing is that Delaware is super flat. That means there are lots of ways to get where you're going, so natives don't have to spend time in traffic.
