So Germans do have a sense humour in the end!

Plane is D-AIDI, A321-231, taken outward of Berlin Brandenburg Airport for LH195 to Frankfurt, Friday the 22th of this month.

It’s German humor, people. It doesn’t have to be funny. Don’t expect stand up comedy
Inondator@reddit (OP)
It still made me chuckle when boarding the plane.
However, now I wonder what a Lufthansa crew in a bad mood looks like. 🤔
Farida_Dragonheart@reddit
look at their history circa 90-80 years ago
ceelodan@reddit
I snorted ngl
munichris@reddit
Lufthansa was founded in 1953.
ceelodan@reddit
They are celebrating their 100th anniversary, but yeah, technically the new (and current) Lufthansa was born in 1953
Farida_Dragonheart@reddit
but was based on the Luft Hansa, which was founded in 1926
callsignmario@reddit
Yep, her smile is so warm and welcoming. Much like my usual sunshine and rainbows demeanor... of German/Austrian decent.
backpackyoghurt@reddit
I love it when the LH crews draw or write something on the yellow board 😊
Silverado_@reddit
I may have to go to the r/ExplainTheJoke for this one
spazturtle@reddit
I think it's a 99 Luftballons reference.
Digger_Pine@reddit
Is it? the balloon says 100
Dreamer_070@reddit
It says 100 because LH turned 100 this year.
CassiCatto@reddit
🎶 Einhundert Luftballons 🎶
prady8899@reddit
It’s the funny moustache man salute
Inondator@reddit (OP)
Believe it or not, I only notice it now.
And yet God knows I like that kind of dark humour!
Benniisan@reddit
If that wasn't the joke you thought of, what was?? Cause I genuinely can't find anything funny here
It's a cool welcome drawing but... else?
Inondator@reddit (OP)
What's a Lufthansa crew in a bad mood?
Benniisan@reddit
From Frankfurt?
Pleasework94@reddit
There’s also the “99 luftballons” reference
Seanwys@reddit
It's actually just Banksy's Girl and the Balloon artwork
thesuperunknown@reddit
…is the humour in the room with us?
Qusarian@reddit
It’s German humour, so it probably cleared safety inspection before appearing.
Little_Legend_@reddit
Theres a DIN Norm for humor here. If thats not strictly obliged, we can actually face fines. Its commonly reffered to as "rule 34" if you wanna google it.
CassiCatto@reddit
Oh nope. No no no no no....
YourMother0HP@reddit
German humour is no laughing matter
Inondator@reddit (OP)
I did say it was exceptional, just that there was one! 😅
nlcircle@reddit
Just freely associating here, but does anyone remember the ‘99 Luftballons’ song from the German group Nena from the eighties? That may explain how the additional ‘Banksy’-balloon got the number ‘100’ in it.
syndrome379@reddit
Possibility also a reference to the LH 100 year anniversary this year.
nlcircle@reddit
In all fairness: that’s much more likely. But I was so proud to have found such a nice link to ‘die Nena’ after so much time.
ice744@reddit
Oh! For those non germans or those who dont get it, I think its a reference to Lufthansa turning 100 recently. The actual drawing itself is inspired by Banksy actually, and the 100 on the ballon is well...LH turning 100. They have a special livery theyve been painting one of every plane they have in. Looks amazing!
__iku__@reddit
Oh it is still there nice I saw it last night while doing maintenance on this very plane. There have been a few artworks Ive seen al very nice. Some funny, some very beautifully drawn. Gotta love it
Inondator@reddit (OP)
I took that picture last Friday on the evening.
__iku__@reddit
They sometimes keep it for quite some time. (Mostly because they use the wrong pen that doesn’t easily wash off 🗿😂
SocialHumbuggery@reddit
What's the comedic element? Explain, explain.
Inondator@reddit (OP)
The childish marker drawings! 😅
StatementOk470@reddit
Do you mean the drawing of the girl? Girl with Balloon by Banksy, originally meant to be a commentary on the West Bank Barrier? Hilarious lmao
Inondator@reddit (OP)
No, the "crew in a good mood".
Seanwys@reddit
It's something the Lufthansa crew do pretty often and it's usually the pilots doing the drawings
They've even featured these drawings on their social media multiple times
SocialHumbuggery@reddit
I guess that's German humor for you 🤔
OwnBreak9467@reddit
Isn't the "joke" that the crew is in a good mood and therefore less likely to deliberately fly into a mountainside today? Or is that too dark?
GeorgieTheThird@reddit
Germans take humour very seriously.
-Copenhagen@reddit
Yes. Humor is no laughing matter!
Cosmicstranger28@reddit
Banksy would be proud and um honestly, a Lufthansa crane balloon is ultimate German upgrade to street art
techysec@reddit
That’s so funny, I’ll laugh as soon as I can.

Oddly, no posts when it's sorted by best or new. Appropriate, I guess.
TheBluecrafter122@reddit
(hallo, neugermanischer peter hier; psst, that is the joke of that subreddit; that germans have no sense of humour, so no posts)
for more information, you may also consult r/GermanHumour and/or r/PeakGermanHumour
ByteWhisperer@reddit
No posts there, I guess that is the joke.
MynameisnotFrediel@reddit
Germans are hilarious, you just don't understand them.
Azurehue22@reddit
Thought this was 99 Luftballoons for a second but it said 100
Nuclesnight@reddit
I thought the joke was the „Crew in a good mood“ as that‘s a really funny one.
Inondator@reddit (OP)
That's what got me in the first place
ScottOld@reddit
Still quiting for them to put cow stickers ON D-AIRY
Inondator@reddit (OP)
Well, they drew AIDI on this one, that's already fitting!
