N115BZ - Embraer ERJ-190AR (ERJ-190-100 IGW) - Breeze Airways - KBTR - 5-25-2026 - Something of a now rare thing to see with a US registration these days I believe. I've always liked how the E190/E195 looked, and afaik MXY is the last US operator for the type. Del. to Air Canada as C-FLWK in 2007

Great airplane. Easily my favorite airplane out of my entire career as an FA. Spacious galley for the size, 1 FA per, so nobody gets territorial. Service split is usually at the exit row, so it's like working on two different airplanes. Big windows, easy doors, no middle seats. Before they patched most of the bugs, it was very good for a mechanical cancel in base... many a bonus turn canceled because the plane booped its head. Vent flap trick good for an extra 5-10 minutes of block time on every flight. "Arctic Breeze" function for the lead FA - independent temperature control so you can keep it as cold as you like.
The downsides: plane would boop its head in outstations with contract maintenance so you might never get back home, overhead bin space is limited (that extra width on the A220 really does have some advantages), so you usually run out of bag space pretty quickly. Extra length and CG position means the back galley can be downright violent in turbulence. Service door is a halfling door, and it can get a little tight during catering.

I love Breeze! Honestly amazing service for a low cost airline.

Apparently they're kind of shit to work for, but I've never heard any complaints about their service.

Same playbook as JetBlue when it started, but a little weirder. Basically zero labor protections, "work rules" not a contract (level 2 IROP - no rules!), substandard pay, "play in the gray" mentality (change the rules - selectively!) - you'll love working here... or else. Their initial FA plan, only keeping them for 2-4 years, is absolutely meant to head off the kind of unionization efforts they saw at B6.
Probably not a bad place for a first airline job (B6 was mine), but otherwise, "culture" is a poor substitute for work rules and protections.

I believe it. Most of the LCC suck to work for.

Agreed! They make flying out of CHS super easy and convenient

Avelo placed an order for 50 E2s. They are going all in on Embraer!
bonzothebonanza@reddit
Soon to be the first US operator of the E2 as well! I wish E2's were more common in the States.
fly_awayyy@reddit
Too big for Regionals and too small for mainline as Delta even changed course from the A220-100 and instead converted all their orders to the -300 since it’s uses marginally more fuel but with a lot more revenue potential.
mr_bots@reddit
Specifically the E2s are too heavy to be covered by the pilots union scope clause. Embraer still manufacturers the E175 as it’s the only scope clause compatible jet in production so they essentially have a monopoly on a captive audience for the NA regional jet market.
fly_awayyy@reddit
That too forgot about that. They would never carve out and give scope to a E190 E2 because the plane literally would fly mainline routes with how capable it is. Then the E170-175 E2 weighs too much as you stated.
ecniv_o@reddit
I find it odd that Embraer knew full well about the weight limit of the scope clause, and how successful the E175 E1 was to their business; and yet the E175 E2 was designed to be too heavy?
I see they're continuing to manufacture the E175 E1, but now the E175 E2 is dead in the water. Most curious.
878886@reddit
They gambled on the unions folding on the weight limit to allow the E2. The gamble did not pay off.
DaWolf85@reddit
They've insinuated the plan is probably to keep flying the 737-800 alongside the E2s, so not quite all in, but certainly a big commitment nonetheless.
Mentour made a great point in his video about the collapse of Spirit that these types of airplanes are great for LCCs, because they can fly routes that the majors can't compete with due to scope clauses.

Great airplane. Brazilian engineering at its best

Embraer my beloved❣️❣️

A few are operating as scheduled service. Most of the remaining aircraft are used for charters.
