I just looked up the price for a walk in bath tub installation cause I think at 47 I deserve bubbles and a chair.

Just created a new ally bucket cause I’m tired.

And why not??

Our house has a walk in tub that's jetted and bubbles and all the stuff. It was there when we bought it. We used it some but hardly use it at all now. Actually we mostly use it as a dog washing station now because it's big and has the wand. I'd be happy to remove it and put some shelving in but that's just me.
Sub_Zero_Fks_Given@reddit
It's better to get a stand alone hot tub. They can be worked on. In house ones won't get touched by a spa store nor a plumber. You have to contact the manufacturer.
Source: Have been a hot tub dealer for 10 years and get asked if we work on them very often. Neither we not the plumbers can do anything to help them.
Moxie_Stardust@reddit
I'm over six feet tall, I just want a tub I can actually lie down in...
Alternative-Wish-441@reddit
I’m a hare under 6’ (used to be 6’ but hurt my back and shrunk). I feel your pain.
lasciviae@reddit (OP)
I hear you so hard. I want you to have a float tub of your dreams. Save. Age like a bad bitch. I’m manifesting a 9 foot jawn for you. ❤️ starfish my friend.
fave_no_more@reddit
Can i ask what a rough idea looked like for the tub?
Normally i would say oh i know it varies by market, etc, but uh, jawn gave you away. Go Birds.
QuesoChef@reddit
You’re taller than me so may not work, but I lay down and my legs go up the wall.
I figure I’m doing double duty: a nice soak and legs up the wall yoga pose. Shift occasionally so my feet get some warm water. Cold toes is the only downside. But I still soak 2-3x per week.
AllThe--SmallThings@reddit
At 36 I'm already eyeing shower stools at Target. No shame, you've earned the chair.
Eeyor-90@reddit
It’s worth it. You can properly wash your feet and relax while sitting under the hot shower stream. I got one because I had foot surgery; I wish I had purchased one much sooner.
Ok_Profession_990@reddit
Man I want one SO BAD!! Im an amputee and being in water like that is the only thing that helps my phantom limb pain. It's like my leg bones are getting ground together and my toenails being ripped off
Eeyor-90@reddit
If you have a yard, you can get an inflatable hot tub for around $500. They aren’t as good as a regular hot tub, of course, but it is a nice compromise, especially if you’re renting or can’t afford a renovation. I’ve seen people set them up in a garage, but I would worry about mold and mildew.
lasciviae@reddit (OP)
I don’t have your experience but I thank you for sharing as your feedback…. I feel it ❤️. I have pain management issues. I’ve possibly had 6 soaks in the last 15 years. At most. I’m manifesting a most delightful soak for you. Take a middle age sigh with me….we earned it.

I used to install those.
I would never get one
mariposa314@reddit
I have a shower seat from the medical supply store. I don't care how ridiculous it might be as a 41 year old. It was a game changer.
Organic_Popcorn@reddit
Why didn't I think of this before? I'm going to look for one right now.
I was at Walgreens waiting for my meds, and of course there was an "elder" section with diapers and raised toilet seats. I actually looked at it and thought, "Oh my God, that would be great for my knees."
Key-Shift5076@reddit
All these tall people and meanwhile I prefer toilets that my feet don’t dangle on..wild how many different versions humans come in, and how I’ve never thought about the difficulty of having a toilet too low only too high.
Coriandercilantroyo@reddit
Yeah, I hate when I get assigned handicap accessible rooms at a hotel for this reason.
chicagotodetroit@reddit
There’s also toilets too shallow. I’ve heard of men whose tips accidentally touch the inside of the bowl when they sit.
ShillinTheVillain@reddit
The old round toilets are really bad for that. The elongated bowl is far superior.
chicagotodetroit@reddit
My grandma had one and pooping at her house was so nice. No more legs falling asleep.
TiggerOh@reddit
I had knee surgery in my 30's and had to get a raised toilet seat (and a shower chair cuz i had to keep my leg outside of the shower) because I was unable to bend my leg for weeks. Both items are actually pretty amazing and I kept using them way past when I actually needed to.
mariposa314@reddit
Lol! We bought our house from an older boomer couple. They splurged and installed tall toilets for themselvesat some point. It's real treat to already have them😂
ShakeItUpNowSugaree@reddit
I live in my grandparents' house and it has the taller toilets. I don't realize how nice it is until I go somewhere that doesn't have them.
willows_edge@reddit
Add a squatty potty and your colon will thank you, too.
Raoul_Dukes_Mayo@reddit
I had one in my 30’s because I broke my leg. Super regret getting rid of it.
arnie_apesacrappin@reddit
Just want to throw this out there for anyone considering a shower seat.
When I broke my foot, I went with the $50, 350-pound rated one from Amazon. I fell in love with having a shower seat, but:
After the first one needed to be thrown out, I spent $120 on a solid teak shower seat. It is miles better. Solid wood, good fasteners, no plastic. It also stays cleaner. It may not last until I die, but right now it feels like it could.
chicagotodetroit@reddit
I have one in my cart right now lol
I was debating on a full size or a corner seat. Leaning towards the corner seat to save space in a smaller shower.
Birdytaps@reddit
Came here to suggest teak 👍
InsideBase9235@reddit
Same here! Makes shaving sooo much easier.
Key-Shift5076@reddit
Have just realized that most people aren’t sitting on the edge of their tub to shave their legs and bits because they aren’t fun-sized and have longer legs than me.
Dandibear@reddit
Also makes it easier to detail your feet or get up in your nethers real good.
Add a hand sprayer shower head and you'll have the cleanest genitals of your entire life. Particularly refreshing when you have swamp ass or have been sick.
ShakeItUpNowSugaree@reddit
My bathroom at my parents house just had a shower, but it had a molded-in seat. It was a beautiful thing and I'd very much consider it if I ever live anywhere with a 3/4 bath again.
holyshpit@reddit
As someone who almost passed out during a long super hot shower (what my friend calls a lobster shower—because she comes out so red after one 😆), this might be my sign to say “fuck it” and just buy one of those for myself.
mariposa314@reddit
That's why I got one. I was nearly passing out with enough frequentcy that I had to do something.
heethersmeether@reddit
My shower chair has completely changed my life. I can't go back.
lasciviae@reddit (OP)
You’re a baller ❤️. I support and applaud your bad bitch aging.
SilverAsparagus2985@reddit
This is on my dream install. I’ve been eyeing one since my early 30s. 🤭
Bridgezilla@reddit
For people who hate the thought of being naked while it fills or empties, you can get robes that are made out of toweling material and just let them get wet or use extra actual towels and let them get wet. It feels better as long as you use the hand held shower once in a while to keep it wet with warm water and don’t let it go cold. This is what I learned from doing “sitz” baths. Yes it is annoying to deal with the wet cloth afterwards but it’s more comfortable.
Fast_Soil1376@reddit
I thought to walk in tubs were such a great idea until this one thing occurred to me:
You have to sit naked, wet and cold waiting for that thing to fully drain before you can open the door and get out.
To me, that seems a terrible way to end a relaxing hot bath. So, a deep jacuzzi tub with a water heater large enough to fill it w lots of hot water is my plan.
Tamination@reddit
I used to sell these; they drain in 60 seconds. They have 2 x 2-inch drains.
germyfur@reddit
This is why I want a Japanese-style tub. It’s an efficient way to get a good soak.
molniya@reddit
OK, I haven’t seen one of these, but what’s the advantage of having it be walk-in? Stepping over the side of a bathtub never seemed like a big obstacle; I think mine is under 2’ high.
burf@reddit
Doesn't seem like a big obstacle until your joints wear down or you get a chronic injury that limits your ability to step over things a couple feet high.
Also, bathtubs are a pretty common place for even able-bodied people to injure themselves. Tripping over the side of the tub is probably one of the causes.
willows_edge@reddit
Must be nice to still have good knees and hips...
80s_angel@reddit
This never occurred to me. I used to want one but no thanks.
thirdangletheory@reddit
My mom had a Safe Step installed and it fills and drains super fast. I've used it a couple of times. There are other considerations before I'd recommend one though.
blueplutoredsky@reddit
Same for the fill up. You got to get in before it fills up. I think overall it would just leave me angry 🤣
Crash217@reddit
That thing takes a ton of water too. Going to take a long time to fill!
jackfaire@reddit
My best friend and I rent from his mom and she had out bathroom remodeled with a walk in shower.

We have one that came with the house, got to be honest as a 6'2" guy, I hate it. My wife likes it though.
lasciviae@reddit (OP)
Boo? Not mad if this is your throwaway….meanwhile we’re keeping the tub.
backtheduckup@reddit
You'll use it maybe twice and then after the water bill say fuck it
badwolf10_31@reddit
How much?
lasciviae@reddit (OP)
I have a coupon😁. Aiming for a fuck it, save for 5 k. I’m good with figuring the rest out later.
I’m so fixated on an edible at the end of the 40 + work week with the general public in bubbles. I deserve this.
WE deserve this!!
Age like a bad bitch.

I found my people.
rodneyenmac@reddit
For the fancy ones between $15k and $30k
Sebastian_dudette@reddit
Yeah, parents got an estimate for one about 10 years ago. It was $25k.
Stuffleapugus@reddit
Like a sunken in tub or a tub with a door like for old people?
lasciviae@reddit (OP)
Yes. 😘
lasciviae@reddit (OP)
But old people shit frfr. 🤷🏻♀️
Stuffleapugus@reddit
I like your style. Got off an edible and was like, "Why would I want to swing my leg over a tub after a long day?"
lasciviae@reddit (OP)
Naw, edible cause we make our minor sacrifices, including draining like a raw chicken after a soak. no intentions for swinging shit. To old. I have a fluffy robe. I hope everyone that sees this has a fluffy robe.
YOU ALL DESERVE FLUFFY ROBES!!!!!
Stuffleapugus@reddit
For real!
Fun-Grab-9337@reddit
Curious so how much is that gonna run ya?
buckut@reddit
i have one. i bought my house from an old dude. the bathroom is all decked out in handrails, like 3" bars, two by the toilet, couple more by the closet door, one on the wall by the tub, next to the telephone.
i havent taken a bath tho. i dunno, its cause i gotta sit there til i fills up, then i cant get out til it drains. im 42, im not risking it by hopping the gate either heh. so i use the seat mostly when i give the pup a bath.
QuesoChef@reddit
You need an above ground pool ladder.
mickeltee@reddit
I’ve been wondering how these work. Do you just sit in them naked while they fill up?
Dark_Shroud@reddit
Basically yes, same for draining the tub to get out.
Lafemmedelargent@reddit
🤣 I needed a laugh. Thanks, OP.
What_Up_82@reddit
Right lol! May your dream come true OP, really.
