i JUST had that happen to me🤣🤣 said something to my uber driver and he didn’t respond AT ALL, not sure if he didn’t hear me or just didn’t wanna talk. I was like okay I better shut up now😔🙏
I think having a laugh, even a small bit of banter in a work meeting or watching something funny online. I know it's obvious but there is a lot of negativity around.
When I feel cold water go ALL THE WAY DOWN. I love this in the dead of winter too. I haven't discovered the formula for making this happen, but perhaps it's the sheer surprise that makes it so nice.
Also: hearing my feller singing my name or the cat's name along to a well known song.
I randomly compliment strangers and my husband says he loves that about me, the confidence to do that. A few weeks ago I went up to a young lady and said I absolutely love your cardigan and she said her dad had taken the mickey out her wearing it so she was going to tell him what I said. The smile you get when you compliment someone you don’t know if such a buzz. I will always do this.
The resident swans, family of almost grown baby ducks, my stalker pair ducks all tipping up at various points demanding to be fed. The swans can reach through the window if you ignore them and bash the side of the boat. I can be walking around the boat and if they spot me through a port hole they will make a bee line for the swan window. The baby ducks will run across the river to get to the window if they see me. Makes me smile multiple times a day. They cost me a fortune in swan/duck food but they are worth it. They is also an Egyptian goose that taps on the office port hole window and stares at me begging to be fed.
Watching my dog play happily, I love seeing him bound around and let his hair (fur?) down.
Also, when my husband holds my hand as we're walking down the road
My daughter saying anything (she’s classed as non verbal) I was have the worst birthday ever for my 50th, and at bed time she said for the first time (first time without prompting at least) “I love you” changed my birthday round at the last minute (especially as her twin brother also had a first - first f-bomb asking for “f*#king cake”) bear in mind they are 7
Also, when I get a smile or thank you from the people I look after always brightens up a shift
Thats so great to hear - I have three children, all autistic and my eldest two are non verbal at ages of 7 and 10, and we get the odd word at most - but my youngest whos 3 and recently diagnosed, has now started becoming verbal despite alot of sensory traits, and he's an absolute joy to finally hear one of children talk in small sentences and requesting things left, right and centre, saying thank yous and please and "hi mummy" and "hi daddy", just the best feeling.
Especially as my air conditioner blew up last July and I’ve not had the funds to even attempt to get it repaired in the meantime, so the last few days have been miserable.
I'm late 60s. A text/WA from one of my 20-somethings always puts a smile on my face. Even if it's my eldest staring with "Dad...can I ask you.." and my reply is "How much and what's the repayment plan"
Clean sheets on my bed, looking at the work rota and realising I’ve got a really solid team on with me, my bus arriving just as I get to the stop, having nothing planned for a day off.
My dad, flowers- finding a meadow especially. Seeing my old dog running and messing about like a puppy, sunshine, my children all laughing together, scream heartfelt hug from my mum. New clothes or shoes. Coming home to a clean and tidy house. Clean sheets hanging on the line. A genuine compliment.
A few things;
- seeing children playing and laughing
- doing a random act of kindness
- seeing a random act of kindness in real time
- meeting up with friends
- laughing uncontrollably at something silly
- perfect weather conditions; gentle breeze, light jacket weather , sunshine (not too intense)

Having a decent meal I genuinely enjoy. Doesn’t matter which one.
With so much focus on macros, proteins and calorie deficits (especially as we head towards the summer months) I think a lot of people are sacrificing the simple joy of eating something you love.
