6 GCSES grade C and above including English and Maths 3 A Levels French C Art B Biology B BA (hons) 2:1 Bumming Management
northerncodemky@reddit
They really do do degrees in everything these days don’t they. Was it more theoretical (preparation, balancing out roles etc) or were there practical aspects to it to?
Mental_Body_5496@reddit
🤣🤣🤣

Would your A levels and degree not supersede the qualification requirement of any GCSEs?
Lynvor@reddit
Depends on the job, some degree jobs I've seen actually still want GCSE Maths and English as well as your degree.
Reddit____user___@reddit
That’s remarkable isn’t it.
I’d imagine most degree candidates to be mostly literate and a bit handy around the old sums😁
Dai_Bando@reddit
I think it's very telling that they do still require proof of gcse. I work with people in their 30s who can't compose an email, write a coherent sentence or k ow when to use apostrophes. They don't even seem to have found the spell check function on their laptops. These people have degrees. I notice my foreign national colleagues have a much better grasp of the written English language than the natives. Very sad to see.

Not necessarily, if you had A-level History, Spanish, and Art, a failed maths GCSE isnt superceded by that if maths competency is required
edhitchon1993@reddit
I always include mine as "11 GCSEs grades A* to C including Maths and English"
I have to do this for my company's audited competency management scheme (and yes, despite my having a master's, they did once check).
Familiar-Candidate-7@reddit
Wow I honestly have no idea what GCSEs I did or the grades I got. It was 25 years ago. I’m amazed that your company checked. No one has ever bothered to ask me since I applied for sixth form. Interesting to know
edhitchon1993@reddit
They're German.
the_real_deal_feel@reddit
Just out of interest, was the check ‘you providing the certificate’ or did they do their own checks? After 23 years I can’t find my certificates for love nor money.
edhitchon1993@reddit
I had to provide the certificate when I first started, but since then I just send a scan.
Fortunately I've been subject to schemes that check since I left uni so I know where my copies are.
HamsterEagle@reddit
Don’t forget to also include whether you passed your Cycling Proficiency test and what Swimming Certificates you have.
decentlyfair@reddit
I only did one gcse as I failed o levels and did a levels as a mature student, I have a degree and about to get a masters(subject ti dissertation). I am 61 and I still put that lonely maths gcse on my cv.
As to whether you should or not, if you got a few GCSE’s maybe state how many but clarify you have maths and English.
Ennochie@reddit
I'd do two things:
Big_Ad_8327@reddit (OP)
Don’t worry, pal. Any energy that could’ve been spent on social media grammar particularities were reserved for my first class literature dissertation, and subsequently my masters literature dissertation and the final assignments I’m currently working on. If you’ve got a red pen you could mark this post for me in terms of SPAG and send it to my home address tho :)
Ennochie@reddit
Don't ask for input if you don't like the replies.
Big_Ad_8327@reddit (OP)
Don’t be snarky if you can’t handle it when people are snarky back ;)
sihasihasi@reddit
Meh. I dunno. You're asking for CV advice, using a writing style that would likely get your CV chucked in the bin.
Big_Ad_8327@reddit (OP)
So I’m ordering red pens for both of you? Got it.
SweetKhorne@reddit
Just include a single line saying something like "X GCSEs passed, including Mathematics".
No downside to including it, particularly when it's a specific requirement for the job. AI might review your CV rather than a person, so make it obvious that you tick the box.
peppermint_aero@reddit
This is the way. Don't worry about the timing - it'll be obvious it was a lockdown thing.
TheCookieMonsterYum@reddit
English and maths.
Queen_of_London@reddit
Yup, I include a line like that at the end of the qualifications section, but it's "x GCSEs including English and Maths."
Some jobs do include English and maths GCSEs as requirements even if they also require a PhD in English or maths.
PHayesxx@reddit
I just put GCSEs achieved in grades A*-C in… then lost the subjects.
For some jobs it’s important that you have a C/4 or above in English and Maths.
thehonestchild@reddit
You just need English and Maths GCSE for most things so just put them
72dk72@reddit
I have always listed all my qualifications regardless though like others have said. I just Day 9 xGCSE including English and Maths. A level, HND all the way up to my MBA are there.
DIY_at_the_Griffs@reddit
Don’t forget to take your Record of Achievement to your job interviews.
HashDefTrueFalse@reddit
"[N] GCSEs graded A*-C, including [those relevant to the job, with grades]" Anything else screams inexperience (IMO).
No need to detail resits on a CV. They'll ask at some point in their hiring process if they care. Most places won't. I'd just leave GCSEs out of your college section as the above covers them.
THROWRAsaltylemon@reddit
What is the grade the job is requiring and are they also requiring a degree to apply?
