He probably means punch in time at his hub or distribution center. So you do your punch get to your truck and loading, pretrip, ect and you are paid for that.

California Law is supposedly you get paid for every moment you are performing required work duties.
Pre/post trip inspections, waiting for refueling or washing the truck, all should be paid. You should get paid the same whether you are in traffic. Waiting for a load, or a drop? Just the same, all payable!

It’s more about the usage rate and lack of cleaning. If you have a bathroom getting used 20 times an hr, it needs to be cleaned several times a day or you need more bathrooms. Those Porto John’s are rated for 10 workers for 1 week between cleanings. So that Porto John should be cleaned every day. But because of penny pinching companies that treat us like sub humans just to save a few bucks… I’m not saying some truck drivers arent irresponsible and nasty… but it’s the companies responsibility to provide some basic human needs like a bathroom. Especially when you take 2-3 hrs or more to get us loaded or unloaded.

If they put port a potties out that will be enough. And to be fair a lot of drivers did this to themselves but blowing mud and diarrhea shit bombs all over the seats and walls pissing on the floor and just being gross. It only takes a few to fuck it up.

Put port a potties out and reduce how often they get swapped out with clean ones. When a driver complains they will claim "we called the company last week".

I worked for a WA based LTL as a linehaul driver. Several of the dark terminals we had no access to restrooms, because we were going to steal everything. I'd just shit behind the empty line. Or an empty trailer.
