Dragwhal@reddit
Peaked when SCP containment breach came out and been downhill ever since
LimitedPiko@reddit
Scp Secret Laboratory is still pretty great.
assasin1598@reddit
Honestly SCP 5K is fun, hopefully they finnish it.
Koyunw@reddit
will they swedish it though?
Thin_General_8594@reddit
It peaked with the original 4chan post, same with the backrooms lmao
HulaguIncarnate@reddit
Wtf is a did accessibility bot?
Username_Mine@reddit
Please someone provide an answer, I gotta know
peepeeinmypajts@reddit
Did itself is not real
TheWellKnownLegend@reddit
It's a bot that people with Dissociative Identity Disorder can use to tag their messages to show "who's speaking," basically.
SuperDeathChrist@reddit
There are good writers and creators out there in the Wiki, but my interactions in the Discord were Banal, the only exception being the creative writing channel where I talked with a nice person working on their first SCP and a discussion I had with people when I wanted to make my own SCP but failed to get into it… my biggest beef with the whole freeform nature of it is you can write such a messed up moving story like lets say House of Montauk, This Dr. Clef Fella is repeatedly raped, manupilated and tortured by a Gaea Cultist/Demon whatever and ends up having a kid with her (SCP-166), he proceeds to escape heavily wounded and scarred with his daughter, her daughter is taken from him so and so… And then some guy comes up with a story or article making him a shit-grinned dickhead, who is probably satan btw because lol. Like I dont get it, why not take like Dr. House angle? Make him interesting? Pull him out of the clutches of flanderization! Im going on an hyperautistic tangent… I guess the lack of true canon and the introduction of multiverses and whatnot opens many doors while ending up without a destined path or characteristix resolution.
PomegranateHot9916@reddit
its funny you can't have anything SCP related in your name on an SCP community discord server.
even more funny that the stated reason is "no-roleplay" when they have the DID bot which is 90% of the time, used by people without DID.
I'm sorry to say but the DID bot is actually a roleplay bot.
unkountoyou@reddit
What’s an scp discord for if you can’t role play?
RunInRunOn@reddit
You can roleplay, you just have to say that you have DID beforehand
Sethleoric@reddit
Is the SCP community the last true bastion of the 2010s Tumblr archetype? It seems like everyone else has mellowed out over the years and is willing to be edgy again.
TimelyWrongdoer4315@reddit
SCP died the second they started letting people put their OC's in it, the entire point of the first wave was this awful faceless corp that was doing horrible things to keep even worse things contaied, then it turned into Gear, Bright and other fuckwit who are the most special people ever.
PCmasterRACE187@reddit
correct me if im wrong but isnt the whole point of scp that its a big community project with anonymous writing
kieran81@reddit
"SCP died the second they started letting people put their OC's in it"
If I can Reddit out for a second, erm, aren't ALL SCPs original characters? Checkmate.
Okay for serious right now there was a big clamp down on a lot of the OCs and their importance really early on in the community's lifespan. It's generally seen as cringe/frowned upon, especially in modern SCP, to make your ultra-special dark edgy self insert SCP.
Right now I'd genuinely say some of the best shit is coming out of the Foundation's community. People just overhype early SCP because it was popular when Containment Breach was made, and CB is pretty much the normie funnel.
Is some of it cringe? Yeah, it's a bunch of amateur writers trying their hand at sci-fi horror writing in a counter-intuitive format. But I'd still say your average SCP is better than an average r/nosleep story.
BanzaiKen@reddit
No sleep is redditor Creepypasta. Although half of the reason /x/ hit so hard was because of people like Mr No Face writing back then.
yeetenheimer@reddit
Tell me you don't actually keep up with SCP without telling me you don't keep up with SCP.
TheBigToast72@reddit
The entire point of his comment was that he doesn’t keep up because the people are insufferable now. Thanks for proving his point.
yeetenheimer@reddit
Mmkay, redditor.
Timeon@reddit
You're a Redditor.
yeetenheimer@reddit
Yeah. I was just saying that because I got mad.
Timeon@reddit
It's ok. Come hug it out.
yeetenheimer@reddit
Alright, alright. Sorry guys.
SirLongus@reddit
Love to see a good ending
sculksensor@reddit
Modern scp is better than series 1 and OCs are seen as cringe now, especially since Dr. bright who normies loved ended up being a predator
Mr_Paper@reddit
SCPs are like made-up urban legends and the like, right?
mr_dr_personman@reddit
Imagine a library of creepy pastas made by the most uncreative and annoying people you can think of
Fishmongererererer@reddit
There was a good era of them. Early ones were just basic but fun. Then you start to get some really cool ones, interesting ideas etc.
But over time the ideas get more and more dorky and over the top. Like yes, the 300th SCP that ended the world but didn’t because muh reasons. Or the rest that just feel like the community is running out of ideas. And also more and more ‘sensitive’ so a lot of them end up pretty tame when they should be dark.
There are some occasional gems but those are rare these days.

SPC 8763 THE DEVIL'S CASTLE CAMELOT, CAIN AND ABLE'S [REDACTED] RECKONING, DOOMSDAY DEVICE 666 [REDACTED] [REDACTED]
(30 PAGES OF THE MOST RANDOM REDDIT/TUMBLR WRITING YOU'VE EVER SEEN)
sculksensor@reddit
Couldn't find scp 8763, but there is an scp 8762.
SCP-8762 is a middle aged man of indeterminate age who identifies himself as "Steve". No records of SCP-8762 exist in any known country, region, or sovereign state. Physically, SCP-8762 is non-anomalous and has the same physiological requirements as typical humans.
SCP-8762 has one noticeable, yet extremely potent anomalous effect: whenever SCP-8762 is within close proximity of any anomalous location or object, their abilities will temporarily cease; the reason behind this is currently unknown. Anomalous personnel will remain conscious, although any abilities will cease until SCP-8762 exits the anomalies proximity. SCP-8762 must be awake, conscious, and in a healthy mental state for this to occur.
SCP-8762 was first discovered at Site-01. Camera footage showed SCP-8762 wandering through the hallways for fifteen minutes, appearing extremely confused. After being noticed by several security guards, SCP-8762 was detained and interviewed. Extensive testing revealed that SCP-8762 was not associated with any known group of interest.
SCP-8762 emits no Humes, Akiva radiation, or any forms of anomalous energy, thereby eliminating the possibility of it being a weapon. After it temporarily neutralized SCP-001, it was designated as SCP-8762.
Picture of SCP-8762
kpingvin@reddit
I was worried it was gonna be like, "If approached he will utter the words 'I am Steve' and the only way to neutralize him is woth SCP-123482 (Chicken Jockey)"
Mean_Introduction543@reddit
You get some good ones now as well although they do feel a lot less frequent than in the early era. It does sometimes feel like every second one is a tumblr fanfic about being trans or some glaze about someone’s OC.
I’m not sure if this is because they genuinely are or because we just don’t remember the duds from the early era because I know they’re in there.
I will say though that this current era is still better than the era where every single one was 80% redacted.
gerkessin@reddit
A lot of them now end up just being short stories about personal trauma. Some of the writing is pretty good but it feels like these are creative writing submissions that got tweaked to the SCP format.
I do not read SCPs to experience the psychosexual trauma that a B.A. in english suffered in their freshman year.
I like reading about haunted vending machines and factories that turn your guts into sprockets and shit

SCP-[REDACTED]
Description: [REDACTED] balls [REDACTED]
Interview logs: *actually takes thirty real seconds to scroll to the bottom*
Final Addendum: LE SCARY CLIFFHANGER!!!!!
outland_king@reddit
Nothing pisses me off more than the articles that are 3 lines of half-redacted description followed by a novel of exploration notes or transcripted dialog.
If you want to write a story, then go do that somewhere else.
Xemxah@reddit
[Redacted] balls [Redacted] made me actually lol for like a good ten seconds. Thank you for that.
Exurota@reddit
Way back when it was a 4chan creation. It got co-opted by lamer flavours of autist.
LizzieMiles@reddit
Sometimes you get good ones still, you just need to check if it is above 100 score, those are usually the better ones
Hattmeister@reddit

bustermagnus@reddit
Not really like urban legends. They are entirely concieved and presented as fictional. It's more like fanfiction.
Far_Reindeer_783@reddit
I find it so incredibly funny that one of the authors there was so buttmad that "are we cool yet" was used by actual anarchists for their 3d printing gun group
I see the occasional harping about anti fascism so the disconnect is so disgustingly ironic
WebSufficient8660@reddit
Remember when SCP used to be cool and niche and wasn't flooded with hundreds of shitty OCs? When entries were grounded and tonally appropriate instead of the fucking wattpad garbage the now-braindead community gobbles up? Pepperidge farm remembers.
uber-abuser@reddit
early scps were either creepypasta slop or places for writers to self insert their shitty researcher ocs. nostalgia is killing your brain
Porn_Addict_7749@reddit
Two thirds of SCP is CP, anon

I am little bit afraid to ask, but what does the 'S' stand for?

It's also hilarious that they're so uncreative about telling stories, they have to resort to use politics as a story medium, because art is political or some shit like that.
But don't you dare speak against the boring ass 50 pages of writing, else you're a bigot and just not artsy enough to see the value in it.
SoupaMayo@reddit
That moment this Dr Bright guy started self inserting in every SCP files was the last straw for me
sculksensor@reddit
He ended up being a predator
Yeah the community doesn't like putting OCs in their stuff anymore
Mean_Introduction543@reddit
I think it’s important to note though the community ate his shit up before he was revealed as a predator though. His shit was always cringe but they loved it.
sculksensor@reddit
Yeah that was before. It's back to being cringe now
dogbulb@reddit
A good rule of thumb for SCP content is if the concept is pretty strong and doesnt require a bunch of cringe exposition from the handlers, you'll have a good time. 1733 is the golden standard for me.
Dd_8630@reddit
The wiki is amazing and continues to put out fantastic horror.
Everything else is absolute dogshit. All the fan work is just wankery.
sculksensor@reddit
Scp narration/ SCP CB videos arent the most popular scp content anymore, now it's slop channels that mischaracterize, simplify or straight up lie about the SCPs they cover
ReturnRadio@reddit
And people wonder why every series of SCP grts progressively worse and worse
TearOpenTheVault@reddit
People jerk off early SCPs like there wasn't a whole bunch of absolute trash there. The whole era of edgy monsters who edgily murder people in super edgy ways happened at sub 1000, while SCP-3000 is peak.
sculksensor@reddit
A lot of series I articles only hold up to today because of rewrites. Anyone whos read through series I knows shit was rough back then
DontForgorTheMilk@reddit
I was gonna say isn't anything above the 3000s generally considered low quality and "non-canon" to the wider, more sane, SCP community?
RegularlyClueless@reddit (OP)
There are a few exceptions, Rounderhouses stuff is pretty good
Pullsberry_Dough_Boy@reddit
Sibling unironically expects a large Discord server to be good.
outland_king@reddit
SCP has been shit since series 3000. These "people" even had the gall to rewrite classic articles to "enhance" them (remove problematic language and add their insufferable takes)
Its all failed theater kids and Uber leftist suburban millennial who cant write without injecting politics. Their idea of horror is a wet paper bag with a spooky face on it.
gary-cuckoldman@reddit
Stopped reading at “discord server”

Subjugatealllife@reddit
Occupy wallstreet really scared them in 2011. Right afterwards, all the regards that used to get bullied were handed power by institutions to sabotage the left, and they’ve been completely insufferable ever since.
Scarytoaster1809@reddit
I actually used to be in a Roblox SCP group when I was younger and it went through maybe 5 or 6 administrations and you had to request time off
Serious-Breakfast908@reddit
Roblox as RP platform is ass. It is not even roleplay it's just shitty gameplay mixed with themes and such. With microtransactions and junk that nobody wants, pay 2 win shit, or stuff that should be free so everyone can enjoy the game.
If you want true roleplay, you should try the space station 13 game, there is an SCP themed server and it is entirely free, the only downside is the low amount of players and it only opens on weekends, the engine is ancient but it's one of the most polished games I've ever seen. Made by the people for free, and open source, you can even download their entire github repository and check it yourself and open your mini-server to test things out. Good luck.
Scarytoaster1809@reddit
Lol you sound exactly like a pal who recommended me the same game a while back, hell he even showed me the scp servers
Serious-Breakfast908@reddit
It's strange because the game is very niche and it's hard to find out about it. There are a lot of freaks spreading the word just like me to keep it alive 😭😭😭
