are these systems worth the money

100%, not only will they prevent you from catching a flat tire citation or warning. They also help tires run longest by maintaining the proper PSI regardless of outside temperature.

exactly this, plus the peace of mind is huge when you're doing long hauls. had a buddy who got hit with three separate tire violations in one month because he was just eyeballing pressures - cost him way more than one of these systems would have. the automatic adjustment thing is clutch too, especially when you're running through different climates on same trip. temperature swings can mess with your PSI pretty bad and these systems just handle it without you having to think about it

I know some will say it's bullshit, but I literally had one of these reseat and inflate a tire that was off the rim. Not sure why the tire was off the rim when I picked it up but our terminal was a 15 minute drive away and the load wasn't too heavy, plus it was early AM so not much traffic, so I booked it to the terminal to wait for the maintenance guy to come in. Somehow, during that 15 minutes, the tire reseated and the auto inflation system got it back up to running pressure. After removing the tire and giving it a once over the maintenance guy said he couldn't find anything wrong with it. Drove that trailer 300 miles to the delivery and dropped it.
One of the craziest things I'd seen happen.

Had this happen to me too. Picked up a loaded trailer and one of the tires was flat and off the bead. Said fuck, rolled out of the yard and onto the dead end street and called loves to send someone out. The act of turning the trailer out onto the street and the system pressurizing it had reseated the bead and filled it back up in the 3 hours I was waiting for loves.
They said "where's the flat?"
"I'll show you... Idk..."
And they drove off. Tire didn't go flat for as long as I had that trailer so it must have been a crazy small leak.

We have this happen routinely on our tankers. They sit in a lot for a couple months and the shop guy picks it up to fix the tire, by the time he drags it 2 miles to the shop from the drop lot it’s back on the bead.
Our shop guy claims it saves him the most on calls that a trailer is several hundred miles away and now has a flat. After installing them and buying trailers with them the calls have basically stopped.
Look into the systems that check suspension pressure at the same time and automatically deflate when you are empty. Apparently it really saves on tire wear. If you run empty a lot. We have end dumps and tankers so typical for 50% empty miles.

Keep in mind, these systems only work with oil bath axle units, axles that use a grease lubrication system need to be converted over to oil bath. Otherwise air does not make its way through

Meritor Tire Inflation Systems (MTIS) are fuel savers. By continuously maintaining optimal tire pressure, the system yields an average 1.4% increase in fuel.
3000 miles per week. 7 mpg. 50 weeks X $4 per gallon fuel.
3000 divided by 7 mpg = 428 gallons fuel. X 50 weeks = 21,428 gallons fuel. X $4 per gallon. = $85,714
$85,714 X 1.4% = $1,200.00

Yes there is a reason that every Fleet runs them. One roadside tire change due to a slow tire leak can cost over $1,000.

just this month ive had two blowouts on the same axle where i wasnt able to drive and got taken advantage of for roadside service. ive spent 2,200 on tires and roadside this month. i think im going to go ahead and order it
