Sociologists moved the goalposts literally before he ran for President (likely not because of him though). GenX was 1961-1981 up until about 2008. Now it's 1965-1980.

The years of GenX usually quoted are based on the demographic pig-in-the-python birth rates.

Traditional generational theory is 20 year cohorts, and shared cultural event impacts.

Stauss and Howe, and other academics, place GenX as 1961-1980, the 13th American generation or Gen13.

I hear and acknowledge your anger. There are many older citizens holding into control without considering the cost.

While I agree that some elders need to step aside in politics, some are valuable contributors to society. This, like most anything, would be need to be decided on a case by case basis.

I recently read this book called "the fourth turning" essentially talking about how the generational cycles have been working in the past... the book clearly puts us on deck for fixing all the stuff that is about to break. in the author's narrative, we are the "managers"
