I live in and travel between TN- N. AL would love to get into sailing but don’t really see much community where I am. I travel for scuba diving a few times a year but it’s hard to focus those trips on sailing when I already have a purpose for my trips. Any insight?

Grew up sailing on Old Hickory Lake outside Nashville. Just saying.

I think you can charter a sailboat in the BVI for SCUBA diving, at least I've seen a couple down there, you will need a captain but you'll get a lot of experience.

Bluegrass Sailing Club is active on Kentucky Lake and a very nice club. Knoxville has an active club. Or come on up to Louisville. We have two active clubs - Derby City Sailing Club (keelboats) and Louisville Sailing Club (dinghies).

Find the nearest decent sized lake and thats your best chance to find a small sailing club. Usually one design boats like lasers and thistles are popular on smaller lakes. Bigger lakes you might even find people with larger cruising keel boats that might let you crew.

There are clubs around. Search Percy Priest Yacht Club. Near Nashville. Not sure about other clubs.

Kentucky Lake, Pickwick Lake, and some of the other large reservoirs on the Mississippi/Tennessee River system have an active sailing culture.
