It feels like the season where the show fully figured itself out. You have the darker material involving Xena’s past and guilt, but it still keeps that fun, adventurous tone the series was known for instead of becoming too serious all the time like in season 6.

This was also Callisto at her absolute peak. Every appearance felt personal because she embodied the consequences of Xena’s past better than almost any villain in the franchise.

The Hercules and Xena crossover era was also fantastic during this period. It really felt like both shows existed in the same world naturally instead of just forcing crossover episodes for the sake of it.

And honestly, Season 2 has basically every kind of Xena episode people love. Dark emotional episodes like “Destiny” and “The Price,” comedy episodes, mythology stories, campy chaos, romance, body swaps, action, and character development all in one season.

When I picture classic Xena: Warrior Princess, Season 2 is pretty much exactly what comes to mind.
