Where are you going on holiday this year, if at all?

Obviously many people won't be able to go due to time or financial constraints, but if you are going away this summer or later this year, where are you off to?

Tunisia for a week
moffb88@reddit
Never again was horrifically ill there

Been to berlin already this year, got Barcelona Ibiza Amsterdam then Lapland in January
TheLoneSculler@reddit
Barcelona in August, Turin in November

Was lucky enough to get gorgeous weather in Rome for a week in April earlier this year. I don't want to fly anywhere else for the rest of the year just in case the jet fuel situation worsens, so I'm going to Edinburgh in July and London in September for 6 nights each.
slightleee@reddit
Glastonbury next month hopefully. In the motor home. Some great cycling and walking there. So much to explore in the UK. I haven't been past Manchester yet. We live in Poole. We are simple folk, I don't want the airport hassle, transfers, etc. Not for a week anyway. We haven't been abroad for about 8 years. 3 weeks in Canada. I'm happy in a field, chilling at the end of the day with a book and bottle of wine.

I wanna revisit Malta, I went with family originally and fell in love. I want to go solo and hostel it and meet people when I’m there next time. The vibe of the country is so good that I found it hard not interacting with other young people there, particularly in St Julians. The Med sea is the best in the world, hands down.
magicmango2104@reddit
Did you happen to visit Gozo whilst you were there? I went every year as a kid/teen and we loved it. The people were so kind. They got their 1st traffic light one year and every taxi driver wanted to show us. Id love to know if its still as lovely.
AlucardVTep3s@reddit
Yes I did! I got a video my mum took of me walking down the stone ramp into the water and slipping on my ass, cut up all my left elbow but I saw these tiny cute little crabs by the rocks! The water caves are great too, so many little fish and clear water!
magicmango2104@reddit
Ive got so many lovely memorys there. We went with my grandparents, they had been going every year for 25ish years before they stopped going. We always stayed at the same hotel and got to know alot of the staff, a few left and used to come and visit us when we went back. Such a lovely welcoming place.
BallEnjoyer6@reddit
Probably not popular here, but doing a month in the US as my twins have yank grandparents.
audigex@reddit
I don’t think most people are really judging travel to the US - it’s not like they’re opening concentration camps or something
I’m just choosing not to go myself. The world’s a big place, I can go somewhere that’s not doing its best to be a douchebag
Necessary_Train4507@reddit
I’m in a similar boat. Not the biggest fan of having to use my annual leave and hard earned money to go there.
BallEnjoyer6@reddit
The people we know out there are anti trump so I just feel bad for them rather than wanting to boycott. I get why others are though.
AlucardVTep3s@reddit
Have fun mate😂Which state you off?
BallEnjoyer6@reddit
It’s DC so not even a state weirdly enough.

I’m sitting at Bodrum airport now waiting to come home after two lovely weeks, although UK has been a lot warmer. Might come back in late June, but have another Turkey resort booked for end of September and then Red Sea in November.

We decided to holiday at home this year. I don’t want to be left wondering how I’m gonna get home if something happens.
But we’re quite cautious.
deecee-247@reddit
Going to Amsterdam for a week at the beginning of June :)
Have also just put my resignation in to a toxic Jon (without something else lined up) but it will be nice to have the personal time as I've been dealing with a lot of mental health issues for the last year.

Came back from Belarus and Lithuania in May, Next month going to Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
Earlier in the year I was in Estonia and Finland..
Planning to either re-visit Belarus, or Moldova from September..
lookhereisay@reddit
Just had a week in Sussex (saved up for 2 years for my husband’s 40th surprise present).
Then in July off to Cornwall. Tagging along on a trip with my parents. Staying in great aunties cottage as she’s off to melt in Benidorm and we are more than happy to house sit.

Good old Butlin’s in October!
Planning to go to Chester and Isle of Wight next year. (And Butlin’s as we do that every October half term)

Italy, Croatia, Greece & Montenegro on a cruise :)
MishaBee@reddit
I've just come back last week from a similar one, but we stopped in Turkey rather than Montenegro.
NortonBurns@reddit
Taormina, Sicily - tomorrow morning.
It's cooler than London right now, so that's nice too.
For 20 years we went to visit the folks who lived in Tenerife - which was lovely. Cheap & cheerful too, as we only paid for flights & booze. They came back to the UK, so we want to see new places. You're only old once.
lidlberg@reddit
Will be off to Tuscany in July to see Andrea Bocelli live, followed by another trip to Italy in September for a big birthday (spending a week in Puglia and a week in Umbria).
Saltysockies@reddit
Cornwall for a week, home for a day then off to Wales.
I got a dog 4 years ago and she's a anxious little thing. We don't want her to get stressed without us so we've only been travelling around the UK.
It was a downer at first but now I'm actually getting to see more of my own (expensive) country and I'm loving it.
Hopefully Scotland next year.

We're going down to Wookey hole for a couple of nights with the kids if that counts? Of course will also be going into cheddar and Wells.

Work depending, I'll probably go back to the Peak District. If not, Edinburgh since the flights are so cheap!

Nowhere yet, and I don't know where to go tbh. I've never been abroad before which is unusual as a 30 year old. I have a few months free after I graduate university and a house deposit in savings... Thinking of just spending it on somewhere exotic tbh

A few short 2-4 night camping trips here and there mingled together with a few adventurous day excursions. A bit of Wales (Gower or Wye Valley), bit of north Devon, bit of Cornwall. Day trips would be some hiking destinations or a nice long beach day somewhere.
Can't spring for the flights and accommodation like we used to (family of 4) and I also am becoming less inclined to bother with the hassle. We'll probably go abroad every two or three years for something interesting but there's plenty of this country to enjoy, it also helps that we mostly enjoy outdoor activities and we're not good weather melts and are happy to venture out if it's not perfect sunshine.

Great Yarmouth in August. Never been before.

Thailand ina few months. Going island hopping.

We got back from Greece a few weeks ago and within 48 hours of returning I had booked flights for next summer as the post holiday blues hit so hard

Canada - 10 days skiing
Germany - work
Lichtenstein - ptobably one day but considering two
Switzerland - a funeral, but also later on about a week of tourism
Czech Republic - it's rn route for a couple of journeys so will spend some time in Prague.
We are considering an eastern European country for some ski lessons before we head to Canada.
Salty_Nothing5466@reddit
We moved on very quickly from Lichtenstein as it’s so small and we had explored in an afternoon, would head somewhere else if you can for the second day!
PolarLocalCallingSvc@reddit
So weird thing about Lichtenstein. I've never been before and I've planned a full day and the trains etc.
But then a few weeks ago I really d apost somewhere on Reddit from a British person who said they spent like 4 days in Lichtenstein and could've easily spent more!
It is part of a through route we are doing which is the main reason for not staying longer (I have work to get back to), but I do feel like we'll be just two more of "those tourists"!
Salty_Nothing5466@reddit
My husband was thoroughly disappointed that Lichtenstein castle was not in fact actually in Lichtenstein, and the football stadium was closed 😂 have a wonderful trip!
PolarLocalCallingSvc@reddit
I couldn't give a fuck about football so I'm 50% less likely to be disappointed 😂
Necessary_Train4507@reddit
I spent two days in Liechtenstein and absolutely loved it. You can definitely suffice with one day if you want though
John316-LIFE@reddit
Nothing fancy because I’m heavily pregnant and we have two young kids. I think we might go to Edinburgh for a few nights. The kids love the zoo and the castle. We will do day trips to Largs several times this summer.
MrBread0451@reddit
I always go on what me and my gay friends jokingly call a "big gay bash" where we get some hotels in Manchester and go out to all the gay bars and stay up as late as possible. The fact we don't do it often makes it so much more interesting and exciting.
MrBread0451@reddit
I tried to not say anything explicit but now I sound like a straight person pretending they're gay lol

Have already been 2 months ago on holiday. Does this count? :) Anyway, the plan is to go again in autumn to Sri Lanka and Bangladesh and/or India, so definitely not typical holiday destinations.
Agitated-Spell7065@reddit
I’m not fully decided yet, but if I do manage to get away this year, I’m leaning more towards something simple and meaningful rather than super crowded “hotspots.”
Honestly, Sri Lanka is one of the places I’d personally consider over and over again — not just for beaches, but for the mix of mountains, culture, food, and how much you can experience in a short time. It’s the kind of place where a well-planned route makes a huge difference.
If anyone’s looking at Sri Lanka, using something like GoTourRide.com can actually make it easier — you can pick a private driver with a vehicle, follow a proper itinerary, and avoid the stress of figuring everything out on the spot. Makes the whole trip feel a lot more smooth and flexible.
But still thinking… might depend on budget and time
Many-Permission-902@reddit
I work in aviation so my summer holidays are not normally in the summer. But I am hopeful for a break in September and then I am going to Austria for a break before our Christmas craziness starts
beeurd@reddit
I've not been abroad for years, we went to Devon earlier this month, that's good enough for me.
StrangerThings1106@reddit
Orlando, Florida for two weeks to visit Disney World, Universal Orlando, Kennedy Space Center and to do some shopping, see some gators and visit some beaches.
GlitchingGecko@reddit
The Titanic Museum in Orlando was very interesting, if you're looking for something to do inside on a hot day. 👍🏻
StrangerThings1106@reddit
Ooh, added to the list 👌 Thank you.
RiverCalm6375@reddit
Florida. Don’t come for me.
medievalskye@reddit
I went to Mallorca earlier this month, it’s the third time I’ve ever went abroad (the first being when I was young so I can’t really remember it) and I liked it. I don’t have a lot of money at all (especially because I also paid for my younger sister and mum) and going earlier when the weather wasn’t as nice was a lot cheaper which was good. I’d love to be able to go when it’s summer eventually, I’m going to try and save for next years June/july :)
