Best work distro to dual boot

Hello everyone,
This is definitely a repeated question but I would like to just make sure before I make the choice since I am a little bit of a perfectionist. I am getting a real nice PC with AMD 9070xt and 7800x3d. Unfortunately windows is still a must to play every game out there without thinking about OS compatibility but to get some professional work done I was thinking of Fedora. I work as an AI Engineer and I mostly work with python. Do you think its a bad choice? I had a really good experience with Ubuntu but Fedora seems to be a nice change! Plus our lord and saviour Linus Torvalds daily drives Fedora so he must really know his stuff. Any help is appreciated 🙂
Have a great day!
Ps: I am terrified of Arch but the thought of being able to flex by saying I use arch btw is also tempting 🙄

any modern distro should work. I like Tumbleweed. Rolling, tested, bleeding edge, automatic snapshots. But that's me, there are quite a few distros, depends what is your need.
As for games not working on Linux, I recommend finding alternatives. no point keeping Windows up only for those few titles.

You actually think its not worth dual booting? Is linux gaming that good?

I am a gamer for (many) years, and after changing to Linux I never looked back. Sure, some games do not work (cod, fortnite), but I was never fan of those. I have war thunder, enlisted, hell let loose, ms flight sim, elite: dangerous, and many other to scratch any itch I need. Performance and stability is top notch (and I'm not making it any easier with a custom hyprland), and all other aspects like media, coding and so on is just there for me. I havent seen Windows for more than 3 years, and that makes me more happy that it should.

Just dual-boot Fedora and Arch, I don't know why you'd need two distros, but if you can't choose, then you already said you'd dual-boot, what's the issue?Â

They want to dual boot Windows

I'm aware, I was being deliberately ignorant for humorous effect. The point of the joke was to act as though the idea of dual-booting windows was absurd to the point of near unthinkability, so obviously it wouldn't be considered. Hence the length.Â

I don't think it's that good of an idea to work on your personal pc for safety reasons but both Ubuntu and Fedora should work well from my experience, especially if you install the Linux in a different drive (prevents dual boot issues)

Distro choice is personal, but for work as a developer I prefer Fedora. It has a large selection of modern packages. It has the best of Arch and Ubuntu.
For repos/PMs I install: RPMFusion, Terra, Flathub, and Homebrew. Even more personal and specific, I have Arch permanently running in a podman container as my id/group with home and /tmp dirs mounted, so I can use pacman and the AUR for apps not available on the other repos. (I know about distrobox, but that's overkill; what I'm doing is super simple and how I like it.)

I did Fedora Windows dual boot for a while, until I realized I haven't booted into Windows for a good 2 months, and the only time I did was to bundle an electron app for Windows.

any OS fine, my suggestion is use separate disk.

So the most crucial thing here is the installer, as that sets up your partitions when installing. So I would go with a distro that has a userfriendly installer. Fedora is an excellent pick there actually.

When you say you are a perfectionist, please be aware that no one is going to "grade" you on your distro choice.
Feel free to try whichever you wish and change your mind until you find the right one. You don't have to guess 100% accurately in advance which one you'll prefer as if you only had one shot at this.

If you go for arch, begin with a derivative go for cachyOs easy install almost everything configurated and gui for everything. The EndeavourOS which is almost arch with easy install a few packages and more terminal usage (but its ok) and then if you want the full expérience, go for arch.
But cachyOs and EndeavourOS are wonderfulÂ
