Not enough information to determine responsibility. Can’t see lane configuration with turn lanes, shoulders, etc, can’t see stop lines, not enough info known to determine ROW. Without the big picture, any comment on fault is a guess in this forum. However, the turning movement of the black car after a 4 second pause, and just before the roadway excursion, is interesting… turned into the path of the truck.
You're responsible to everything in front of you. He was going too fast, following too close, and possibly just wasn't paying attention until the last possible moment to avoid a collision.
Not only that, but the truck waiting to enter the highway on the other side moved forward suddenly like he was gonna pull right on out there in front of the black car. It looked like the driver who had just avoided the pickup then hit his brakes again to avoid that truck.
My thoughts exactly, that fuckhead never should have tried pulling out, especially while towing a trailer. Black car did hesitate way longer than they should've, but thats because they just got cut off and are probably in a bit of shock.
Looked like that car was in the left hand turn lane almost stopped then changed his mind, pulled out into the left travel lane right in front of the truck saw that he was about to be hit and swerved back. The truck had to swerve right into the ditch.
I swear at the 15 second mark a naked driver or passenger, still attached to the seat, pops out and hits the ground hard. Between the middle of the splash and that pole in the foreground.
Guy running toward truck suddenly turns and points there, then girl turns too.
I would argue that he was in fact not too close, just didn’t observe that the car wasn’t going to speed back up in a timely manner fast enough……or at all.
Side note, that ditch has an absolutely insane amount of water.
I think their point is the truck might have had sufficient following distance, if it had started slowing down at the same time the car did. I agree with this take. Doesn't make the truck driver any less at fault, but I'd bet the trucker assumed the car was turning without a signal, and would be getting out of his way. With that assumption, the trucker didn't start trying to slow down until it was too late.
The car? Did you miss the moron in the pickup truck pulling a trailer that turned onto the highway causing the car to have to come to almost a complete stop to avoid hitting him?
Following the law the big truck was following too close and probably going too fast. Following common sense the truck pulling the trailer was the 1st at fault that caused all the rest to happen.
As a truck driver I'm going to go and say that trucker was not paying attention otherwise he would have started breaking as soon as that car with the trailer came out. That was foreseeable that the car in front of him was then going to break to avoid it
3 idiots. Turning truck needs to wait and not force his way out into the roadway / try to intimidate a car into stopping. Car needs to maintain speed and ROW. Truck in ditch needs to slow down, maintain proper distancing and be paying attention to the 2 idiots in front of him.
I'd blame the car. They stopped in the middle of the road. Everyone said they were cut off by the pickup with the trailer, but they stopped AFTER the truck had continued. Whole thing could have been avoided if the car had simply kept driving.
That is a horrible spot on a 2 lane highway with no speed reduction. Car drivers turn into that gas station frequently at the last minute. I will never turn left into that station because I fully expect someone will rear end my car.
The driver of the pickup truck pulling a boat trailer was deemed at fault. The 71-year-old driver was charged with careless driving and failing to remain at the scene of a collision after pulling out in front of a southbound vehicle, forcing an oncoming transport truck to veer into the ditch to avoid an impact.
all 3 were idiots. but only one is at fault. trucking is generally easy. the only hard part is you need to be ready to avoid 10 idiots at the same time without an accident.
I know exactly where this gas station is on Hwy 69 about 45 mins from the city of Sudbury Ontario Canada. Just went there last week to get gas, that is a very busy gas station which is in a reserve so very cheap gas prices.
Trucker should have started to slow rather than trusting the car in front of him would keep going rather than getting startled and stopping in the middle of the road.

Right. It's odd that this is even a question.
scubaorbit@reddit
Correct. That said the driver of the Black car is a fucking idiot and should not leave the house unsupervised. But there's sadly no law for that

The black car that got cut off by the fucktard pickup pulling the trailer and then almost got assholed by the fucktard in the semi?

Which was extremely lucky for driver. Dissipated energy over a decent distance instead of an empty ditch functioning as a deadly roll over mechanism.

Car stopped for 3 seconds, so that's the following distance on that truck

Yeah. Pretty much everyone in this video has some fault. Some more than others though.
Responsible_CDN_Duck@reddit
The car lost the front driver tire after hitting the trailer, and was trying to pull off the road.
