Building two PCs for 14-year-old beginners without destroying my wallet. What’s the best approach?

My two little cousins have been wanting for pcs for a very long time and I think I want to gift it to them for Christmas. For 1080p 60 fps how would you go about this? Im thinking about fb marketplace and hopefully finding a bundle deal on Newegg. Not trying to blow my wallet out the water but I want to hopefully stay under 2k, maximum 5k

This build will play any game at 1080p max settings with high FPS.
Or you could just get this pre-built

Yeah get these prebuilts for them

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/qVB9rG - You can beat the prebuilt price + extra 16gb of RAM (plenty of people selling on places like r/hardwareswap) with 7500x3d combo and 9060xt from microcenter

Everybody is saying pre-built, which I get, but they're missing out on getting to build two pcs with the kids and helping them learn.
Give them parts for Christmas and make it a Christmas week activity. It'll be fun as hell helping them.build their own PCs and they can talk about it to all their friends once school starts back.

Are you in America?

Yes

1080p 60, get them an RTX 5060 with a 7600x bundle from Newegg x2. Comes with 16gb of DDR5 RAM, a motherboard and the CPU. Should run you less than 2.5k if you buy two of the same machine plus a 1080p monitor for both of them.

Lol cmon between 2k and 5k is a huge range.

Meant to say 2k - to 2.5k

Access to a Micro center retail store? Sounds good for planning now. Also r/buildapcsales to keep eye on, woot deals(amazon), and of course Newegg combo builder on their site for cycling deals.

2k what, USD? Total or each? Does that include a monitor? What kind of games do they like? Would they rather play on the TV with a controller or at a desk?

Terrible year for it to be honest.

Honestly for 1080p 60fps you dont need to go crazy at all, especially for 14 year olds starting out.
I’d 100% go used for GPU/CPU combos. Facebook Marketplace gets way better deals than people expect if you avoid sketchy sellers. Something like a Ryzen 5600 + used 3060/3070 build would already feel amazing for them. honestly the dangerous part is overspending on “future proofing” and suddenly each PC costs more than your car lol

Christmas? Come back a month or two out. Prebuilts will likely be the best way to go.

Ill second this suggestion. Simple, there's no chance of one of them getting a duff second hand part. And you wont be called when they break somthing because they downloaded a suspicious file.

Probably Pre-Builts, used ones via Facebook Marketplace/Craigslist. Getting an identical pair may be tricky though.
Baddger_223@reddit
Im guessing its meant as max 5k..also do you need monitors, kb, mouse.sys's?
dubbledxu@reddit
What games do they play? That will help narrow down pretty broad topic
