What city in the UK, besides London, do you find to be the best for a pub crawl?

Depending on where you go in London there's pubs on virtually every street corner so you definitely can't go wrong.
I do wonder which other cities fair quite well in this regard. Portsmouth isn't too bad for this either in my opinion though the areas where a lot of the pubs are condensed to can be quite rough.

Christ, if you’re impressed by London you’ll be amazed by anywhere that’s actually good.
Newcastle and Manchester are both superb.
Top-Mathematician261@reddit
The trans Pennine express
stepage@reddit
Between Huddersfield and Manchester is the best pub crawl. Bar in every station. Full day event

There’s so much more to life than pubs
JoeyJoJoeJr_Shabadoo@reddit
And other Reddit threads exist for those other things.

How boring

St Albans
StraightAd3047@reddit
What's the route??
JoeyJoJoeJr_Shabadoo@reddit
You just fall out of one pub and fall into another one, they're everywhere.
OmniWise@reddit
I came here to say this.
terryjuicelawson@reddit
Bristol is good. Some nice areas with a lot of independent pubs and breweries. You could do a lap of the harbourside, from one end of Gloucester Road into the centre, just do Clifton, probably just do King Street and be bladdered by the end.
Accomplished-Pen-69@reddit
Liverpool, surprisingly good pubs, bars and cheap!!!!!
wombatbridgehunt@reddit
Pub golf around St Andrew’s is a great one - tons of nice pubs in tiny area, 18th hole at The Jigger Inn
ORana03@reddit
Otley Run in Leeds used to be good when I was at Uni 2017-2022. Not sure about now.
Albert Road pub crawl in Portsmouth is also pretty good. Bit expensive and the lack of fancy dress is sad but so many pubs to try.
Perfect_Jacket_9232@reddit
Glasgow, York, Edinburgh (specifically Rose Street), Brighton.
gponter79@reddit
Liverpool for the wide variety of pubs/bars you can visit.
Farscape_rocked@reddit
Newcastle upon Tyne.
It's small and friendly and full of pubs. I did an A-Z pub crawl there once.
MissingScore777@reddit
Yeah people think it's all stag dos and Geordie Shore but actually Newcastle has lots for every taste. All types of alcohol serving establishment are well covered. You can have whatever type of day/night out you can think of.
BRIStoneman@reddit
Bristol's quite good for that.
You could work your way from one end of King Street to the other and stop in at 9 pubs, then head up the canal to St Nick's where there's 4 or 5 more clustered around The Mother's Ruin, then head up to Corn Street or across to the Left Handed Giant
dimesdan@reddit
Bristol and Bath were pretty good when I did them last pre-pandemic, and have done a pub crawl twice (ten years ago) around Oxford and that was enjoyable.
TheRealJustSean@reddit
I wouldn't even say London is good for a crawl. At those prices? I'm having a pub sit and stay and nurse that one ten quid pint all night
Commercial_Reward_78@reddit
Oh no, the mythical £10 London pint rears its ugly head again! Where have you lot been drinking… The Ritz?
Billy_Daftcunt@reddit
London is no different to many UK cities. £5-£6.70 pints is quite typical (I recently paid £7 for a pint in Newcastle)
wedontneednoeduc@reddit
Newcastle is good. Always relaxed even when there's door staff so you can wander from place to place rather than have to stay put once it gets late.
Resipsa100@reddit
You ain’t gonna beat the Chelsea Potter with Hendrix the Stones and the Who etc near Chelsea drug store.I bumped into Keith Moon in the Chelsea Water Rat.
JimmyBallocks@reddit
Keith Moon is dead now though. I think a few of the Who and Stones are. Pretty sure Hendrix is too. You might not see them any more.

Newton Haven, had a great night but it's all a bit blank since The Mermaid
HellPigeon1912@reddit
Used to be Leeds, but the Otley Run has gotten too popular now and it's more crowded than Disneyland.
Fun of a pub crawl wears off when it's a 45 minute queue for each pint
Farscape_rocked@reddit
I've never understood the Otley run. Why would you want a pub crawl over that distance?
continentaldreams@reddit
Why wouldn't you?
Farscape_rocked@reddit
Ok I've googled it now, it starts in headingly not otley.
11 miles is not ideal for a pub crawl as you end up visiting too many pubs and therefore not finishing, or spending time travelling instead of being in a pub. Headingly to Leeds is ok.
continentaldreams@reddit
Ah I see where you're confused. Otley Road is the namesake, not the town of Otley!
HellPigeon1912@reddit
I have been told by someone a couple generations older than me that going way back (70s-80s) the Otley Run did actually start in Otley, because back then student accomodation went all the way out that far.
Over the decades, as the student community moved closer in towards the uni, the pub crawl shifted with them until it was eventually "formalised" into the group of pubs on the Otley road that make up the pub crawl today.
That's all word of mouth so could be total nonsense however. And I agree that starting all the way in Otley sounds like a much less pleasant experience!
HellPigeon1912@reddit
It's really not a very long distance. Most of the pubs are clustered together, there's just a couple of points where it's a 10-15 minute walk from one pub to the next
Appropriate_Trader@reddit
Headingley is amazing between late May and September. Then avoid like the plague.
continentaldreams@reddit
The aim is to start earlier than most the second the pubs open - you beat the crowds every time. We also skipped the bars that pretend to be on the original run but aren't.
Madog-Hellgeese@reddit
Worcester and Shrewsbury (Town not city) are great for pub crawls considering their size
SpudFire@reddit
Town, not a city, but Tamworth punches well above it's weight for a pub crawl. The Tap is the highlight but there's other great pubs in the town centre and a couple of others a short walk away
Standard-Still-8128@reddit
Wakefield used to a massive pub crawl about 20/30y ago used to buses of people arriving literally you'd see 30/40 buses lined up from all over the UK
EyeAware3519@reddit
London wouldn't even be in the top 10 to be honest, everything is too spread out. Broad Street in Birmingham used t be good but I think it's gone to shit recently.
SavageRabbitX@reddit
Wokingham 22 pubs or bars just in the town centre
skehan@reddit
Slightly left field but Norwich is great for a pub crawl, very walkable medieval city with lots of ale/cider pubs as well as more modern and craft beer like ones.
ColumbosHairyFarter@reddit
The Glasgow subcrawl is great.
Their underground is one line and it's a circle. Start in the city centre and get off at every subway stop and go to the nearest pub. 15 stops. 15 pubs. Carnage.
Iwantedalbino@reddit
Not sure it’s still possible but the alphabet crawl in Glasgow was good 20 years ago.
Dennyisthepisslord@reddit
Depends what you like to drink. Sheffield has dozens of breweries so for real ale it's a strong contender
Competitive_Test6697@reddit
Subway crawl Glasgow is great.
Edinburgh you can finish at the worlds end, which is good fun.
l0stlabyrinth@reddit
I'm actually going to Edinburgh for a weekend this month so this is good to know. Should be a fun trip
huntinwabbits@reddit
Seconded, both these are superb for pubs.
LewisMileyCyrus@reddit
there's 174 pubs within a mile radius of St James' Park, and twice as many Greggs
l0stlabyrinth@reddit
Brighton is pretty good for this. There's a decent amount of pubs condensed into The Lanes alone and there's two Wetherspoons pretty much around the block from each other. Combine that with the fact you can get takeaway cups from a few places along the beach and it makes for a good boozy day out.
Not the cheapest place in the country to drink mind you, unless you're sticking to Spoons, but I've always had a good time there
