Reminder : We all need to be stretching regularly

Hey there, my fellow youths 👋🏻
I turned 43 a week and a half ago and threw my back out on Saturday sitting down in the wife's computer chair.
Not a bad chair either. A pretty dang good one, but set lower than my spendy ergonomic chair that I use regularly.
Just as my butt hit the chair, I felt a pop in my lower back and that was it. I was stuck. It hurt. I was scared of moving.
Then the muscle spasms started and I immediately rolled to the floor onto a yoga mat where I was effectively stuck in puppy pose (see pic) for the next hour or so.
I've been patched up and given meds to deal with the pain, taken the week off from work, and am planning on a normal routine of stretching from now on.
I know this most likely could have been prevented had I already been doing stretches, but I'm pretty stubborn and don't care about my well-being nearly as much as I ought to. Hello wake up call.
I hope for better backs for you all. 💕

Our little frenchie is the king of stretches! I never realized why they called it downward dog until we got him. He also does a mean "Cobra" too.

Downward dog lol. I really need to start stretching again. Haven't done it since around 18. I'm 42. My muscles are sore tight and miserable

I've worked out regularly most of my life. Recently I had to get a foam roller for the days I wake up with a stiff back and hips. It works great and I've incorporated it into my warm up routine.

Movement is kinder to my joints than stretching alone.

Stretching is just one piece of the puzzle. You’re losing strength.

Plus that loss of muscle mass isn't doing you any favors at keeping that fat from building up.

I started pilates last year and it has really helped. You really need to develop and keep core strength. It helps with back, knee, ankle pain.

When I don’t stretch regularly my lower back, groin and hip flexors get so stiff I feel like I’m 70
