This is a sign to talk to your dog about gun safety

It wasn't multiple shots. It was one.

Reporters here probably have no understanding of how a shotgun works so they translated multiple pellets as multiple shots.

That makes way more sense, was thinking maybe it was a semi-auto or something
Ernie_McCracken88@reddit
yeah plus I would think most dogs would panic after the boom and probably getting smacked by it

Craziest part was this it was a pump shotgun…

It's NYPost. The link they provide as their source says nothing about multiple shots, they just embellished that part completely on their own.

So you’re saying I am a liar and that the dog don’t really shoot someone multiple times with a pump
Shotgun?
You must be a detective…..

Nah. I am saying the title post, which is the NYPost headline, is lying. But sure, go off on me for trying to call out the misinfo.

Thanks for pointing out the NYPost's sloppy journalism. I was wondering how the heck "multiple" shots were fired.
Synectics@reddit
All good. Not gonna lie, I typically do not read the article, but that headline definitely had me curious. I just couldn't picture any dog triggering a firearm, setting off a big BOOM, and being curious enough to try again. Even dogs trained not to be gun shy would likely not try again.

Unless I see some surveillance footage I refuse to believe it

Makes "the dog ate my homework" seem much more believable for future generations of lazy schoolchildren

Was Cheyney reincarnated as a dog?

Similar thing happened to a guy in my area many years ago.
He was going bird hunting with his dog. Loaded shotgun was laying across the back seat. He reached to grab it as the dog jumped toward the open door. Dogs paw caught the trigger and blew half his hand apart. He had it reconstructed as best as the doctors could manage, but it remained in a fixed position for the rest of his life.
Obviously a case study in what not to do.

This is why you don't have a round in the chamber of your long gun while not actively carrying it. If you have time to get to your long gun, you have time to chamber a round. This is not a concealed handgun.

Well said!

Here I thought the title was about the bounty hunter going postal
