Is it just me? Am I on the moon here?

Here I am 48 F. Do any other women our age just stop growing leg hair? This is a genuine question. I know all too well the pain acquired just by sleeping etc.
NoDiscipline4640@reddit
Yes and armpit. Sadly, the mustache and goatee are in it for the long haul.
Lauren_sue@reddit
I used to shave my legs constantly and it’s a shock to not have hair anymore there—- or underarms.
PuRrple_FoXx@reddit
Nope! Not just you! I shave my legs every few months and even then I don't have to.
BigMomma12345678@reddit
I wear crew socks daily and it seems that maybe friction is rubbing off the leg hairs covered by the socks, but otherwise same amount of hair, except for head hair thinning
Additional-Alps-253@reddit
I think I shave my armpits maybe once a year now. My leg hair grows so slowly that I just take out the scissors when I see a few long hairs.
Natural_Ad3054@reddit
I shave my legs for summer once or twice. Haven’t had to shave pits in over 10 years - I love that! Waxing the nether region is easier and more spaced out now too.

Look for missing leg hair on your chin

anyone else developing a habit of touching under your chin to check for random stragglers while watching TV? I need to find my people
HeyMissMurderMittens@reddit

Rude and uncalled for.
But very true and funny.
ShartlesAndJames@reddit
I speak from personal experience, so for me they are motherfucking factual statements.
PumpikAnt58763@reddit
I've had this one single black hair on the bottom left side under my chin. Had it since I was 30ish.

I’m jealous you only have one
StephDos94@reddit
That’s where it went!

LavenderSpaceRain@reddit
Pros: Much less leg and arm hair. Waaaaay more time between waxing armpits and lady bits.
Cons: You. Can. See. My. Freaking. Scalp. Through. My. Hair. GAH!!!! It's ok in the summer when it's humid...but my gosh in the winter it's bad enough that I'm considering a freaking hair transplant.
2PlasticLobsters@reddit
And of course those bald patches happen in front. I've been considering moving my part to cover it better, in other words, a comb-over. Yay.

Yes, it starts to really thin out just in time for us to learn how to deal with the new beard that starts growing.
rpbm@reddit
I have PCOS. my beard isn’t new. 🤦♀️ even though my testosterone levels are now normal for a woman, the hair remains.
Stigger32@reddit
I wish I could use some of the copious amount of hair sprouting from places hair shouldn’t sprout. And stick it on my head.
At least being tall you have to either be taller than me to see it…👀
ILoveLipGloss@reddit
I noticed in my early 40s that my leg hair was getting more sparse & was like "cool" - until I noticed that the hair on my head was doing the same.
LavenderSpaceRain@reddit
RIGHT??? Same!
88secret@reddit
Most of my leg hair stopped growing and shifted to my chin.
RealisticSpecific371@reddit
Haha, same
MVHood@reddit
It stops growing to the point where it loves you into false sense of security about shaving protocols … and then you accidentally look at your legs with your readers on and you realize you have a couple spots on both legs where you have leg hair an inch and a half long.
Majestic-Pilot3718@reddit
That would be a blessing! I swear mines growing faster.
Lollygagger105@reddit
Same. And I have random really thick hairs that grow on my arms too
LizWaits410@reddit
Postmenopausal 49F here and I haven't had to shave my legs in prob 10 years. Armpits and nether regions have finally caught on too. I wax those every 3-4 months. Hopefully the hair on my head doesn't catch up.
Agrippa_Aquila@reddit
I still have strips of hair on the inner front of my calves, but the rest of my legs are smooth. Now if the hair on my toes could get with the program, I'd be a happy camper.
MeasurementQueasy114@reddit
I wish. I have to shave lower legs at least twice a week and wax thighs and bikini every few weeks. I’m 58 and well into menopause. But the random face and neck hairs have stopped. So that’s a plus.
Conscious-Big707@reddit
I shave my legs once a year now.
Vivian-1963@reddit
Whether you need to or not. Lol
Jane-The_Obscure@reddit
It's pretty much the only benefit of the physical changes of age. I grow it, but very slowly and much less..
Of course, my beard is coming in nicely, but that's a whole other story.
Vivian-1963@reddit
Lol, keep those tweezers handy. Bodies are so weird
StarvinDarla@reddit
Its circulation. I did the same thing and that's what my doctor told me.
Rare_Slice420@reddit
Both my legs and armpits stopped growing hair. However, my chin is another story.
Dost_is_a_word@reddit
Me too
TaxiLady69@reddit
I'm a 49 year old woman as well. I haven't had a period in 2 years. I'm still a hairy beast with hobbit feet. My husband always says that I am super lucky that I am blonde.
Artistic_League_1124@reddit
I haven’t shaved my arm pits or legs since my periods stopped. Yay menopause!!
2ndChanceAtLife@reddit
57F-there’s less of it but honestly without my glasses on, I can barely see them anyways. I wonder if other people notice my hairy legs during the summer but really don’t give a damn. I’ll shave for special occasions.
Prize_Vegetable_1276@reddit
I have had some bad vision loss after a retinal detachment. So, I can't really see hair on my legs, so it isn't there, right? lol I was riding as a passenger in the car and in the bright sunlight I could see how hairy my legs are. Yikes.
2ndChanceAtLife@reddit
Yeah, I’ll be in my capris at work with a coworker in my office…. Relaxed & having a conversation. Prop my legs up on another chair and…. Yikes where did those hairy legs come from? Damn LED lighting at work…. LOL
pupper71@reddit
Yep I have very little leg hair these days, and only bother with shaving on the super rare occasions when I'm going to be wearing a skirt/dress and it's too warm for tights.
nygrl811@reddit
Still grows but is a LOT thinner now. I have about 8 hairs between both pits, and some spots on my legs that are fully bald.
Unfortunately my head is facing a similar drought. All hair growth seems to now be concentrated on my chin.
AffectionateSun5776@reddit
Red light grows hair
Greenwitch5996@reddit
Yep, mine migrated from my legs to my LIPS🤭🫣
Winter-Macaroon-4296@reddit
Mine didn't make it past my chin.
Needmoreinfo100@reddit
My husband slowly stopped growing leg hair, found out that it is a sign of peripheral artery disease-PAD. You seem young to stop growing leg hair from hormonal reasons but it could happen. You can test at home for PAD by using a blood pressure cuff. Look it up online.
AccomplishedTour6942@reddit
I'm a guy, I never shaved my legs, but it looks like I do now. The hair on my arms sometimes grows to 2-3" long, and I sometimes find the thing poking me in the right eye is an eyebrow hair from above my left eye. My beard and chest hair are as full as ever, but the hair on my legs is wispy thin to non-existent. The hair on my head got wispy thin too. I was already balding, but I had to switch from buzz cutting what was left to shaving my head, because the hair was too fine for the clippers to cut.
biscuitsmomma@reddit
I have heard about this and keep waiting for it to happen to me. Wouldn't mind not having to shave. I'm 56.
Emotionally-english@reddit
it’s one of the positives of menopause.
doryllis@reddit
My dad’s family was nearly hairless and my mum’s the opposite.
My mother used to joke about her late life “pubic’s march to the knees” (a pun on Sherman’s march to the sea)
I now have armpits that stick to themselves during night hot flashes and painfully peel back apart because I have like 2 armpit hairs and no leg hair. It’s like I’m going back to prepubescence.
So weird.
Dewellah@reddit
I've never been a hairy person. I've always been told that it's because I have Native American ancestry mixed in my heritage. (My grandmother who I'm named after). My brothers can't grow a full beard, just patches. I have a few hairs that grow around my ankle area and it's always been that way. If it gets less as I age, then I'm cool with that!
My oldest son is now 32 but when he was around 13 years old, he asked me why his leg hair only grows thick around his ankles. I'm very short (5ft tall), my mom is around 4' 9". I told my son that we're part Hobbit and that's just how our hair grows. 😆 🤣 I think he believed me for a short period of time. Lol
BTW - with his dad being Irish and Italian, he has fully hairy legs now but he was concerned about our Hobbit lineage for a period of time. 😁
I use aluminum-free deodorant and also put powder on top of that. It eliminates the stickiness perfectly. I've always done this though (due to my hairless issues all my life).
doryllis@reddit
I am allergic to so many things now that I haven’t used deodorant in at least a decade. It might be worth baby powder though. My usual solution is shirts with armholes/arms that protect my pits. It gets hotter though in the summer.
We were also told it was due to our native heritage, but we can’t find any natives in our “official family tree” Nor does that heritage show up in ancestry genetics so far.
One side of the family tree goes blank in 1910s with a 10 year old no where near relatives of the same name, so maybe?
No-Leg-3298@reddit
Yes, and armpit too. Menopause.
nancylyn@reddit
Yes, also I have no armpit hair. Basically I don’t have to shave at all.
Alternative_Table_29@reddit
Same
Alternative_Table_29@reddit
My leg hair stoped after I used an Epilady in college. The hair is still there, it's just very thin and, mostly, stays short.
Livid-Technology-396@reddit
Not to be gross, off color or anything, but I know a female that lost the hair in her pubic area post menopause. Also the hair on her head has thinned out a little.
DontTrip333@reddit
I'm perimenopausal right now. My head hair has thinned by almost half. If it wasn't curly you'd see right thru it. And down there every hair has its own zip code
Livid-Technology-396@reddit
It’s a dirty trick played on women by genetics. Another female acquaintance of mine has thinning hair to the point of she’s looking for a wig or some hair regrowth meds. Guess what. Her husband doesn’t mention it, as he’s like me, and would die before saying anything to his wife that might hurt her feelings. Now that I think about it, my wife never said one word to me when I lost my hair. I finally took the clippers and buzzed it down to about an eighth inch.🤣
crankgirl@reddit
I have a circular bald patch in my pubic region. Other than that absolutely no hair loss at all. Armpits and legs are as hairy as they ever were and my chin and thighs are joining the competition.
BirdieGirl2824@reddit
Same!! OMG I thought I was the only one.
Kanya_Mkavry@reddit
I have barely any leg hair left, except for one of my shins where I used a prescription hormone cream like 8 years ago. The rest of my body hair is still growing like mad, especially this one hair on my chin that was over an inch long last time I plucked it.
untao@reddit
Not just you. I barely have to shave my legs anymore AND suddnly all the peach fuzz on my arms has also just gone. Unfortunately my eyebrows also seem to have lost almost half the hairs they had in my 30s so I guess it's a mixed blessing.
jellyismyjammyjam@reddit
I miss my eyebrows the most!
Prize_Vegetable_1276@reddit
Yes I had a unibrow as a teen. :( Now I my eyebrows are so sparse and funky (64F). Granted I did puck the heck out of them in my youth.
madoneforever@reddit
Lack of toe hair can be caused by insulin resistance.
Prize_Vegetable_1276@reddit
Yes, it can.
CurrentFew6275@reddit
Yes!! I'm Italian..I used to have dark thick hair on my arms and legs. During menopause, most of it fell out and it hadn't came back. Unfortunately, the hair on my head has thinned out too. Welcome to the club!! 😊
azchocolatelover@reddit
I noticed my armpits and legs pretty much stopped growing hair when I entered the postmenopausal phase of life. I'm a fair-skinned blonde, so my leg hair was never really visible, but it's even less now.
I do still shave occasionally, mostly to do a bit of exfoliation.
WinnerAwkward480@reddit
I had a g/f that was a fairhaired blonde. The hair on her legs were so fine , like lil wisp . Even when she would skip a few days , there really was no stubble . Where as a raven haired Italian lady I knew would have a Brillo pad by 4pm .
DidAnyoneFeedTheDog@reddit
49F and due to genetics, I'll probably be waxing my armpits and legs until I stop going out in public.
_iron_butterfly_@reddit
Same here... I dont have to shave daily anymore. In my 20s... I swear Id have a 5 o clock shadow.
Gullible_Front6085@reddit
I'm 45 and I still grow leg hair. Same thing with my 55 year old wife
blissfulhiker8@reddit
I’m in my 50s too and don’t know what they’re talking about. I thought the not growing leg hair happened much older.
Terrible-Spot4193@reddit
I’m in my 50s and definitely still grow leg hair! I wish I could agree with all of the rest of these commenters
jellyismyjammyjam@reddit
51 here. About 2 years ago all of my arm hair and most of my leg hair just disappeared. Armpits are pretty much the same. And that’s my least favorite thing to shave. I truly have maybe 20 hairs on each leg, all spread out randomly.
Madchiv@reddit
During lock down I conducted an experiment purely for my own curiosity and completely stopped shaving everywhere to see if I could grown armpit and leg hair like my partners. I was pretty disappointed.
666ForMySorrow@reddit
Mine was always pretty light but yeah, it's pretty much disappeared by my 50s.
Anonphilosophia@reddit
I was SO hairy in the 6th grade, I told my mom I wouldn't wear any of my new summer clothes unless she let me shave my legs. I remember some of my friends thinking I was wearing pantyhose (which would have been a BIG DEAL) that's how hairy I was.
Now, I can barely see it, and "other areas" are sparse too.
StereotypicallBarbie@reddit
I’m 47… I remember my mum telling me she stopped shaving her legs in her late 40’s!!
I was so looking forward to that day! Not happened for me yet but it’s definitely a thing.
Soft_Construction793@reddit
I hardly ever shave my legs. My arms also used to have some hair but now hardly any.
I have to worry about having a mustache now instead.
untao@reddit
no! I was hoping the lack of body hair meant the moustache thing is a myth and/or not something I'll have to deal with.
Agreeable_Charge1084@reddit
Unfortunately I am 60 year old female and chin hair still grows
hikingyogi@reddit
I stopped shaving it regularly about 5 years ago. (I'm now 59) and have noticed that it is slightly more sparse. I shave it if I'm wearing a dress to a special occasion or when it gets over an inch long.
Also, about 25 years ago I tried an at home waxing kit that almost took the first layer of epidermis off and in those areas it's never really grown back.
mjh8212@reddit
I’ve never had much hair on my legs I shave to my knee and that’s it. I do notice I can go longer without shaving my legs the hair just barely grows back. I’ve always shaved my arms cause they were hairy more than my legs and now the hair really isn’t there anymore. At this point I’m shaving my face more than my body.
Ok-Till-5285@reddit
I have never had to shave regularly but after chemo I maybe shave pits and legs 3 or 4 times a year maybe. Just don't grow hair. I thought it was due to chemo, but I was 44/45 when that journey started and am 60 now so maybe it was normal hormone changes. I don't have hair on my arms either. My thyroid since chemo is perfect (before I was borderline hypothyroidism) so it is not that.
sfdsquid@reddit
I developed Hashimoto's hypothyroidism and one of the symptoms is losing hair. On the bright side, I only have a few stragglers on my legs.
Yay.
Reader47b@reddit
I haven't stopped growing leg (or arm!) hair, but that's one of the few things I'm looking forward to as I age.
Icy-Cardiologist-958@reddit

Omg! Yes! 😂
DontTrip333@reddit
45F. Mine is still growing strong. But I gave up shaving 9yrs ago after my husband died. I might shave once a year, but hate it so much. The scratchiness of grow back is a sensory nightmare for me. Im always in pants or long dresses, nobody is seeing them, but truth be told I don't care if they do. Far contrast to the teen who would shave her legs twice a day (again with the sensory. I truly can't stand the feeling of new growth)
Feeling-Republic-477@reddit
This is me too. I’m 52, the leg hair isn’t as thick but it’s very much there and I hate it but I don’t shave it but every so often. Lol the hair gets long (in my opinion) and when they get to the point where wind makes them wiggle and I think something is crawling on my leg, that’s when I shave!
1Fully1@reddit
I have stopped growing leg hair. I can go a month or longer without shaving. I go swim regularly, but it just isn’t an issue. It’s got to do with circulation, I think.
Comfortable-Ad-8324@reddit
Arm hair nearly non-existent now, legs, only hair is just above ankle and then stops mid shin. Armpit hair, barely. Pubes still there, have to tidy on the regular. Weird AF. 53 here.
digawina@reddit
Wow. I never noticed my arm hair is gone!! Legs and armpits, yes, because I don't have to shave much anymore. But never even thought about my arms. I just checked and, sure enough, just skin. Wild.
Comfortable-Ad-8324@reddit
I honestly just noticed this myself about 4 months ago. Teenage me is DELIGHTED with this, as I always thought my arm hair was too dark/too much. Hardly an even swap for the hot flashes, but ill take it.
Icy_Outside5079@reddit
They left my legs and pubes and migrated to my chin! I'd rather have to shave my legs.
Mugwumps_has_spoken@reddit
True - I spend more time plucking hair out of my chin or neck than I do shaving my legs or armpits (which is maybe once a year for those). I go chasing those chin hairs multiple times a day
Icy_Outside5079@reddit
You do all that, think you're good, then get in the car and see that 1 long hair you couldn't see in your make up mirror. The struggle is real.
Mugwumps_has_spoken@reddit
that one hair that wasn't even there twenty minutes ago! you swear it wasn't. you know it wasn't because you just touched your face in that spot and it wasn't there. How the hell did you grow a 2 inch hair in twenty minutes? where did it come from?
Or those tiny hard bumps you scratch and out unfolds said two inch hair. WTF man? our bodies are weird.

Yes! I was pregnant with my son when I was 37 and lost all of my leg and arm hair. I chalked it up to weird pregnancy hormones. That was almost 5 years ago now and I pretty much don't have any arm hair anymore and my legs barely have any and it grows very slowly. I've been saying for years how weird it is. No hair loss anywhere else though.

Get checked for high blood sugar/diabetes. Losing the hair on your legs is a symptom due to damage to the blood vessels in the legs (esp lower legs).

AdhesivenessOwn8111@reddit
Menopause has caused me to have less hair on my head (I used to have super thick hair, now you can see scalp if I don't style it right). Plus I have no hair left on my legs or underarms except for a few strays once in a while. That's genetics in my family, my mom's the same way. Saves $$ on razors :o)
Bastilleinstructor@reddit
Yes. But, and this is the weird part, after a year of a GLP1 to treat PMOS (pcos) and aid in weightloss, Im having to shave once or more a week again. Formal_Plum_2285@reddit

My (47F) leg hair has gotten darker and thicker over the years. Chin hairs galore. My gynecologist said I'm just naturally hairy after ruling out any issues. Lol
I get my thyroid tested every year because it is larger than normal. Ultrasound showed it is fine but I still get the blood tests.
Intrepid_Practice956@reddit
I lost all my hair to chemo. When it came back, my legs and pits were patchy. Actually the 'pit, next to the boob that tried to kill me, is bald. I don't exactly know why...radiation? Surgery? Don't know. But its nice I don't startle people by flashing pit hair. The other one is very light.
Its been about 4 years now and its still like that, plus chin hair.

Yes this has happened to me too. Still have a few one or two hairs sometimes. It’s great. Less thrilled about my thinning eyebrows.
science_nerdd@reddit
It is loss of estrogen and testosterone. It is called perimenopause
Branch_Same@reddit
Still have leg hair but armpits are bald
No_Conversation7564@reddit
Same here but it moved to my face.
mookypop@reddit
Opposite for me. More growth on legs.
mika00004@reddit
The hair on my legs is almost non existent now. When I was younger it was dark and I had to shave everyday.
I would gladly have it back in order to not have the random ear hair ( in just one ear ) and facial hair.
PumpikAnt58763@reddit
58f here. I've notice a few stray black hairs occasionally. The next morning I shave the entire lower leg. A few hours later, I see the same 3 hairs! I'm trading in my Venus razor for a good pair of tweezers.
burdnerd@reddit
It’s a circulation issue you should get checked out especially if you have shiny waxy looking skin
Nikkorkat@reddit
Stopped shaving my legs 13 years ago. I have maybe five sprouts?
PurplePenguinCat@reddit
I haven't shaved my legs since my wedding almost 7 years ago. And even then, I really didn't need to. Just seemed like I should. But yeah, I pretty much stopped growing leg hair about 10 years ago.
TootieSummers@reddit
Not a woman but I noticed that my body hair has stopped. I was fully expecting chest and back because I had some in my 30’s but it’s stopped completely.
Not the same for my ears and nose unfortunately lol
No_Masterpiece7066@reddit
I stopped shaving several years ago when I pretty much gave up giving a F about what anyone thought. Admittedly I am a staunch feminist and lesbian and do pretty much whatever I can to completely deconstruct from the shit that’s been imposed on women for generations. Anyway, I have much less hair that grows now.
Creative_Class_1441@reddit
I am a staunch feminist heterosexual and I stand in solidarity with demolishing the feminine construct. I only shave my legs when the wind blowing the hairs starts to irritate me lol!
mtysassy@reddit
Oh gosh…I wish!! Since it’s summer here now, I’ve had to start shaving my legs again! I generally go from mid-October through April without shaving my legs and it’s wonderful!
weenie2323@reddit
I'm 57 and never had a lot of body hair but now I have zero anywhere, but still have plenty of head hair.
SeparateCzechs@reddit
Get your thyroid function checked. I stopped growing leg and armpit hair in my early 40s. I also stopped growing most of my eyebrows and half my eye lashes.
Turns out, I had thyroid cancer. An aggressive case of Papillary Thyroid Cancer. It ate my thyroid and got into my lymph nodes.
The girl I was who was bullied by the captain of the Varsity cheerleaders for the hair on my shins (and grounded by parents for four months for shaving my legs) wished that the neck down alopecia could have come sooner.
Familiar-Coffee-8586@reddit
I’m sorry for your puberty trauma 😢 kids, and parents, can be so cruel.
I hope your cancer is long forgotten and you have peace in your retirement! You deserve it!
MaximumJones@reddit
As long as the hair doesn't migrate to growing on your feet you will be ok.
Unless you are a hobbit, then hairy feet are completely normal.
HuntIntelligent8820@reddit (OP)
😂 Thank you for this.
North-Astronomer-597@reddit
I wish. But, my grandmother didn’t have hair on her legs maybe from wearing compression socks all the time.
PahzTakesPhotos@reddit
56 here. I started perimenopause at 34. I don't know when it happened because I stopped shaving my legs ages ago. But if there's hair now, I sure don't see it (or feel it, I just checked). The hair on my arms is really light, but it always has been.
I wish the damn things would stop cropping up on my chin. It's like plucking a chunk of rebar every three days.
Creative_Class_1441@reddit
Lighter leg hair but all the energy went into growing beard hair. I still have leg hair but it definitely is not as dark or thick. I only shave once a week in the summer. The beard hair and armpit hair are sadly unabated.
MusicalMerlin1973@reddit
Dude here, but yeah, lower legs have been rubbed smooth by socks and pants.
CowboyLaw@reddit
Another dude here. My chemo pills basically slowly killed off most of my body hair. I miss it. I feel like I had just the right amount—enough chest hair to run your fingers through without looking like I was wearing a sweater. Enough leg hair to look…right, I guess? All gone now. I have just a touch of forearm hair left.
MusicalMerlin1973@reddit
You past that or are you still fighting the good fight?
CowboyLaw@reddit
I’m good. I mean, I probably get to take the pills for the rest of my life, but I’m the big R word (not the one I got called on the playground, the good one). But hey: the alternative to taking the pills is fucking dying, so…I’ll take the pills! Plus, I can finally buy them from Cost Plus Drug when I want to, which takes the 30-day supply cost from $9K to less than $100. Isn’t American health care fucking grand? Thanks for asking, and I hope you get your leg hair back. I know the feeling of loss, my man!
MusicalMerlin1973@reddit
The leg hair or absence thereof does not dictate the state of our man cards. As long as the hair on my dome persists I’ll be happy enough. (We’ve been aiding that with tea tree shampoo, conditioner and tonic).
Sorry you’re going through this, but yeah the alternative sucks worse. Take care of your health and situation. My eldest SIL was on maintenance chemo keeping her girl cancer in check. She outlived the average lifespan with that particular form by quite a bit. Her doctors kept pulling rabbits out of their hats. Alas, she wore flip flops out to the car in the winter, slipped, fell and broke her hip. They had to take her off the chemo in order to operate to fix. She was gone that next fall.
CowboyLaw@reddit
That was quite the ride! So sorry for your sister and you and the family. That sucks.
WestCoasthappy@reddit
I have just a couple little splotches on my calves and a little patch under one arm. Eyebrows are only 1/2 there, receding hair & a bald spot. Sigh. Wigs are my friend- I look 10-15 years younger with one on and I feel much better about myself. I thinks Drs are learning to take this more seriously now and HRT can help as well as full dermatological work ups.
fruitless7070@reddit
It's a sign or peripheral vascular disease. I'm not a doctor, Jim! But that's usually the first thing that comes to my mind. Sign of decreased circulation in your legs. Or you're just lucky!
tzigon@reddit
As your doctor for a referral to a cardiologist. Loss of leg hair is a symptom.
ParisGreenGretsch@reddit
49M here. Used to have super furry legs, now it's lightl. I also stopped growing hair on my head, but I'm sure it'll come back any day now.
ZarinaBlue@reddit
I did until I went on estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone.
Then it came back.
Apprehensive-Bag-900@reddit
My doctor was discussing adding testosterone to my estrogen and progesterone, but then I started complaining about my facial hair lol.
Current-Object6949@reddit
The hair grows barely and in spots
PixieCanada@reddit
Less hair everywhere except my f’n face. I could pluck three times a day!
I’ve also noticed recently that my eyebrows have grown to be unruly, like an old man’s eyebrows. Just sitting here waiting for the unruly nose hair. I know it’s going to happen, I just know it.
Severe_Feedback_2590@reddit
Sadly, no. I do have less leg and arm hair than I used to and it seems finer (I am very ok with this because I had a lot of arm & leg hair, felt like a gorilla). Same with armpits. Bikini OTH, oof.
Apprehensive-Bag-900@reddit
I'm 48, been in menopause for 2 years; peri started in my mid 30s. My leg hair used to be crazy, but now I can go a week, week and a half without shaving before it becomes uncomfortable. I'm half Italian, been waxing my mustache since I was 12. The flip side is my facial hair is on overdrive now with the weird long chin hairs out of nowhere and my mustache goes from fine to very noticeable in about 20 minutes. Also all my friends are experiencing thinning hair, not me.
Senior_Reaction2974@reddit
I'm 68 so a bit older... But yeah over time you lose your arm hair, leg hair, under arm hair eyebrows... And the hair on your head gets thinner.
Ectoplasmm@reddit
44f.
If I don't shave, I'm turning into Chewbacca in 5 hours.
Thank God for hair laser removal.
angtodd@reddit
My Wookiee sister. I hate shaving.
Ectoplasmm@reddit
Girl lemme tell you I hated that with all my heart. My discovery was that laser thingy. Life changer.
Can't believe I've spent that much time shaving off these bitchass legs for sooo long.
I'm still mad lol
FoxPowerful4230@reddit
Upvoted for the correct spelling of Wookiee.

OMG. I'm picturing you all as the girls I hung out with in high school and it's HILARIOUS
Trondant13@reddit
My leg and armpit hair is virtually non-existent. However, I have to pluck chin whiskers all of the time. I'm in my 50s.
PinkyLeopard2922@reddit
Those damn "hairs of wildly inappropriate color and thickness" on my chin are infuriating.
designer130@reddit
Leg hair still growing but I lost my arm hair lol
Corgilicious@reddit
Mine did stop. And then when I started HRT, it has come back with a vengeance.
Intelligent_Quiet424@reddit
This was my experience as well.
McVinney512@reddit
Leg hair has slowed down. That random chin hair comes out with a vengeance
Exact_Insurance@reddit
I have noticed a LOT less leg hair yes..only have to shave about once every week now. I am 55
Melissaschwart@reddit

Legs no, but my eyebrows no longer grow. I haven't tweezed in almost 2 years. Not complaining 😀
bmbmwmfm@reddit
My leg hair stopped. And I have always had dark brows, but now I'll get Eugene Levy inch long snow white wild ones ... Regular brow no longer grows so idk where these crazy ones are coming from. They're not turning white, they just spout like a Chia Pet already white.
Kairiste@reddit
I have a couple of light patches but that's about it. Not even worth glancing at.
ljinbs@reddit
I wish. I lost all hair during chemo. My leg hair came back stronger than ever as did chin hair. 🙄 Yet my eyebrows are still sparse. 😩
DangerousPraline41@reddit
47F and I have a lot less body hair in general than I used to, and that for sure includes my legs.
positivepinetree@reddit
My leg hair has all but disappeared. It coincided with chemo for ovarian cancer in 2020, so i thought chemo somehow caused the hair to stop growing. Maybe it’s just a part of aging. Same with my eyebrows.
kadora@reddit
It can be a sign of low testosterone or poor circulation.
Mental-Artist-6157@reddit
It's your hormones specifically testosterone. I'm 56f, started losing leg hair on the lower legs & arm hair started getting sparse in my mid 40s. Didn't know I was in early peri, gained a bunch of weight after a bad break up, wanted "my revenge body back." I restricted food & over-exercised, lost 90 pounds in 7 months, crushed my hormones. I'm on MHT now, slowly coming back to life.
ChickenArise@reddit
This was it for me
Head_Trick_9932@reddit
Almost 50 and do I wish lol. I’m so over grooming all together! I’m not a candidate for removal or I would have a long time ago…dang redhead.
Enjoy, I’m jealous lol!
Wiziba@reddit
I lost all my body hair to chemo in 2024. Felt like a freakin dolphin. After I finished the really toxic crap it started to grow back everywhere except my lower legs, where it comes in only in two matching patches about 3” inches diameter, one per leg. Oh, and the armpit I had irradiated. I don’t use a regular razor anymore, just one of those facial dermaplaning shavers.
It’s been a year. I think this is just how it is now.
Sigvoncarmen@reddit
Same ! and I called myself the dolphin too . I have the matching patches on my shins as well. Wishing you the best :)
Engchik79@reddit

Happened during the pandemic for me. I shave maybe every few weeks. I wished that was on the list to share when you hit pre menopause.
SolomonGrumpy@reddit

Nearer to my ankles the hair has thinned and stope growing.
Dunno why.

I've noticed I hardly grow any the past few years. I only have to shave my legs once a week now! It's great.
Capital-Cheesecake67@reddit
My leg hair definitely less sparse than 20 years ago.
Jonsie-426@reddit
I'm on the verge of being 61, and have 2 or 3 leg hairs, and about the same under my arms, but mine is a combination of meds and autoimmune. My hair on my head is thinning rapidly too.
lacatro1@reddit
I dont have leg hair. I shave my legs maybe once a year. My arm pit hair is very sparse as well. Every 3 months for that.
ToneSenior7156@reddit
I’m 57, very fair, and have great hair on my head. I have not had to shave under my arms or my legs for a year or so and even then I didn’t really have to. I don’t need to shave my legs, very fine light hairs there if any. I only shave because I like the way it makes my legs feel in the summer. I just figured it’s my dwindling hormones.
SMBamberger@reddit
56 and I only have to shave my legs every few months. I used to shave weekly. I don’t have to shave my armpits either. But I have to pluck the chin hair nearly every day. Oh well.
bluesunlion@reddit
It migrates to your chin.
71Crickets@reddit

I should have started waxing years before I finally did. I get facial waxing and lower leg waxing now and I am never going back.
imoldas_fck@reddit
Truly does. Horrid when they turn silver and stiff!
bluesunlion@reddit
Serious answer: my leg, pit, and pubes are going strong, but my head hair is getting thinner.
doggiemomof3@reddit
I haven’t had a hair on my leg or under my arms since age 53. That part is great….the bad part is my eyebrows have all almost completely fallen out.
Independent_Baker712@reddit
47yo and Italian here to say it’s slowing down for me on my legs. I just noticed this a few weeks ago. It’s wild.

GrayLightGo@reddit
Less leg hair, more chin hair.
AssignmentGreen4257@reddit
I still grow it. Just not as much. It relocated to my arm pits, which never really grew hair until recently.
junglebetti@reddit
Yep! Unfortunately my eyelashes and eyebrows are also dwindling. Re: post-sleeping pain, my massage therapist recently told me to stretch before getting into bed and most importantly stretching shortly after getting out of bed.
Gaylina@reddit
Nope. Nearly 65f and all the hair- pits, calves, head, and lady bits hanging around like it's 1999.
Top-Pudding-4139@reddit
I'm 48 and haven't seen any decrease with body hair in perimenopause. Instead there's just more on my lower face. My mom is late 70s and still shaves her legs.
youretoosuspicious@reddit
I have almost no leg or arm hair, my mom was the same way later in life. It’s weird but no medical issues have turned up yet. Head hair seems to be normal, possibly increasing, so far.
Left_Connection_8476@reddit
I'm 53, 3 years post menopause and still get all my same leg hair.

SAME.
Coconut-bird@reddit
57 and I feel like all my hair has just gotten thicker and found more places to grow. I've always been on the hairy side and am so ready for the thinning body hair I keep hearing about.
knt1229@reddit
I never grew leg hair. The only part of my body I have ever needed to shave was my underarms.
HairRaid@reddit
All my leg hair migrated en masse to my armpits, except for a few stragglers who stopped behind my knees and decided they had found a healthy & supportive place to grow.
rosesforthemonsters@reddit
I haven't needed to shave my legs for 10 years.
Roseliberry@reddit
So, not a diagnosis but peripheral circulation is directly affected by elevated blood sugars. What this means is if blood sugar is too high it damages micro circulation and toe hair is often the first to go, followed by leg hair. Hopefully your HgbA1C is fine but worth looking into.
lovebeinganasshole@reddit
Lost the hair on my legs and arms when menopause hit. Didn’t miss either, the arm hair bugged me a lot as a teenager.
mittychix@reddit
Leg hair and bush unchanged but I stopped growing armpit hair, no more hairs popping up around the nips, and my eyebrows are thinning. Getting an impressive beard and mustache though!
Roseliberry@reddit

Mine definitely grows slower since menopause/post-menopause.
Comfortable-Bed-6814@reddit
Nope, you are not alone--that is what has happened to me since I went through menopause. It takes forever to grow any discernible hair on my legs. And, for me, it comes in very thin and soft.
SignificantRecipe715@reddit
45 here & I stopped removing leg (+ armpit & pubes) 10yrs ago due to constant ingrowns.
Now I'm tempted to remove & see how it grows back, same or more sparse.

Hardly any hair grows on my legs anymore and my eyebrows are thinning. Will be 48 in July.

56, yes both arm pit and leg hair stopped growing much. I shave once a month just in case, but I could go longer.

A lot of women begin losing leg hair during perimenopause, especially among some ethnic groups including Native Americans. My late mother very gleefully told me that she had lost her pubic hair in her old age. I regretted having ears that day.
