This is roughly the same price as the Modern Warriors deal. $50 cheaper than it has been, and he’s got 40 in stock. Shipping is $15.99 for me to VA, with no tax bringing grand total to $1,115.98.
I’d still consider this BIN. For any VA folks that have yet to buy a rifle- get this, 15-20 PMAGs from PSA, and a halfway decent suppressor. Throw in an enclosed emitter Holosun and you’re all in for way under $2000. You can form 1 this to an SBR if you so wish.
Also- obligatory 208 fucks. They’ve been awesome to me and my friends and family with the coming AWB. Got at least 8 friends/family running a similar setup to the one above and they love it.

I have a Kuna. Nexus lower. FRT setup. Form 1’d with a can on it… and it’s my favorite gun I own currently. Honestly, for me I’d say it’s even really close either in terms of “fun”. It’s essentially a civilian legal subgun.
But, with that being said- my 11.5 URGI is the go to training rifle. Kuna is fun. But if SHTF, you want a reliable AR.
This is one of those purchases where it’s not “which one”? I think every collection needs a shorty AR whether it’s a 10.3, 11.5 etc and then a longer one to reach out and touch something.
If you’re in VA, you need both of those guns like yesterday. If you’re in a free state, buy the deal. I don’t see them being this cheap for long. Same thing happened late last year with the 16” DD. Now they’re back to typical prices.

I certainly agree about needing a shorty AR in the collection, and will be throwing a dedicated can on whatever I get. With that being said, is this 10.3” a good choice over something like an 11.5” or 12.5?
I am not in VA, but am in Maryland. So, I wouldn’t be surprised if we aren’t too far behind VA.
My thoughts: the Kuna is readily available in the $1k range. So, even though I set aside the funds for the Kuna (or Stribog), and wasn’t in the market for a shorty AR…the DD is the better “deal” and has me contemplating delaying the Kuna a couple months.

The DD is absolutely the better deal.
The Kuna has a ton of demand right now because of the VA issue alongside the Nexus lowers turning it into a “must have gun”.
Everyone will have a different opinion… but unless you’re a super secret operator, chances are the ballistic differences between 10.3 and 11.5 won’t matter.
If I were you, I’d jump on this deal. You get an insane rifle for literally less than the upper usually is. I’d buy this. A reasonable dedicated full auto capable can (Stacy’s mom K etc), Form 1 to SBR, and drop in an arc fire trigger. After optic and can, all in for less than 2k on what’s essentially the rifle used by most of special operations command for CQB and urban environments.

Main reason is 11.5” has better ballistics while only having a marginally longer barrel. You get increased effective range while not losing much maneuverability. Look up a velocity by barrel length chart on Google and you’ll see that there is a big increase in velocity going from 10.5 to 11.5.

Noob question. If the muzzle device on this is pin and welded, would I need to send it to gunsmith to get a suppressor on it?

As others said it's not pin and welded. If it was a pin and weld and it was just a traditional muzzle device (no threads/attachment on the outside of the muzzle device) then it would need to be removed to attach any supressor. If it was pinned and welded with a muzzle device tied to a specific system (e.g. a Plan B flash hider) then you would need the appropriate adapter on your suppressor and it would attach over the muzzle device.

fwiw i think there are some states that actually do have some sort of rule like that.
excluding those states, the overall "no sales tax" thing is a result of a 2018 court decision, South Dekota vs Wayfair. simplified, the way it works is: after an online merchant sells a certain dollar amount of goods to residents of a particular state, they have to start charging the sales tax and remitting it to that statem but until they cross that threshold, they are not legally compelled to do that.
so that's why here on /r/gundeals you see many of the dealer posts might occasionally list out in a comment what states they are currently required to collect taxes from, and if it's one of the big stores like berelli or optics planet, they've already crossed that threshold a LONG time ago so no one expects to get anything tax free from them.
you might also occasionally run across comments from people saying "dang, store X didn't charge me tax last time but now they are!" sometimes people get mad at the store about it, as if the store just chose to start taxing them, but the store has no say in the matter, it's just that between that personal last purchase and this one, that store crossed the nexus threshold and had to start charging tax.
