If you want a copy of the Army's next shortest lived service rife, this is the cheapest I've ever seen them. This is about as expensive as the .308 version.
BiggyIrons@reddit (OP)
Heres some hybrid ammo for the low low price of $4.25 a round lol
https://www.sigsauer.com/277-sig-fury-150-hybrid-hunter.html
DanteMustDye@reddit
To my understanding. This still isn't the hot legendary ammo that will defeat lvl4 armor that the army uses. Seems like a complete waste
BiggyIrons@reddit (OP)
Yeah I just looked at the velocity, it gets \~3,000FPS out of a 24” barrel.
speezly@reddit
It’s almost like Sig is doing something borderline illegal to get the Army to adopt their retarded pistols and rifles
BiggyIrons@reddit (OP)
The ammo we have access to isnt what the military is supposed to be using. That stuff isnt even in mass production yet but is going to meet the spec. Also it was the military who put out the rec, Sig just made a gun that meet that spec and sold it for less than the competitors, and offered some high ranking people some jobs lol
mmmhmmhim@reddit
got damn think i’ll stick with 270 lmao
1610925286@reddit
That will show those armored deer
BiggyIrons@reddit (OP)
Maybe Boe Jiden was onto something, maybe the deer are wearing Kevlar vests
Legal-Practice2445@reddit
What kind of mileage does it get?
Bortjort@reddit
85 dollars to the mag
AutomataDeObama@reddit
Thanks just picked some up for my .223, excited to see the .054 increase in performance
BiggyIrons@reddit (OP)
HANK! DONT CHAMBER .277 IN A .223!
Bubbly-Celery-4096@reddit
Thanks for saving me time. This was my next exact step after seeing this post
BiggyIrons@reddit (OP)
You can find regular ball for \~$2 a round, still bad but not as bad
_thefutureisdead_@reddit
Cheaper to run a 50 Cal lol
ocatataco@reddit
lol
cbslinger@reddit
Still convinced a Chinese spy got into our military decision-making process. If America loses our next big war it will be because of spending so much money on an awful rifle like this when the next big war is going to be won with drones anyways.
TheGreatSockMan@reddit
I hope multiple go to jail over it. It’s the UCP of our generation
speezly@reddit
They will just all flee to Israel and we will send them more money
speezly@reddit
Replace China with Israel and you might be onto something..

ArmFun4566@reddit
No, just good old fashioned knee-jerk reaction decision making. Our guys found out the hard way that getting outranged by PKM gunners in the desert forever wars sucked balls, so instead of doing something smart like getting a new DMR platform and making plans to have more guys equipped with it in each unit next time we go play in the sand, we get this horse abortion of a rifle, they were also supposedly worried about Russian and Chinese body armor like either of those countries is ever going to actually issue the good armor to more than their top 5-10% of front line troops and spend the rest of the budget of hookers and booze (If it even exists/performs as advertised and isn't an outright lie)
Scientific_Coatings@reddit
Corporate America*
McKoijion@reddit
Sig Sauer's CEO served in the IDF, and you're out here looking for a Chinese spy?
Harrythehobbit@reddit
I remember Ian saying that if he was a foreign agent sabatoging US weapons procurement, convincing the DOD to adopt a heavy, low capacity, fragile, and massively overpressured rifle would be the way to do it.
panzerdarling@reddit
The US military is also just kinda infamous for loving its A Man And His Big Heavy Rifle complex that can be gamified into precision shooting competitions. The Garand, the M14, the M16A2, the stillborn M1A EBR revival in Iraq/Afghanistan, annnnd now the M7.
Combine with some good old fashioned graft on Sig's part and it's very very easy to see how this would happen without any intrigue.
Harrythehobbit@reddit
Yeah I don't think anyone actually thinks this is the result of sabotage, it's just a way to point out how absurdly I'll advised it is.
UserNameNotSure@reddit
It's just how Sig does business, they grease EVERYONE and everything. "I got a buddy over at Sig"
Sledgecrowbar@reddit
Always a possibility, in this case, the history of the head of sig usa is a strong argument that the answer is right in front of us.
BasicEnchilada@reddit
Exactly, we dont need a new rifle, we need better drone detection and interception. Spending cash on something no one asked for IS peak Government though.
BlueJay--@reddit
Nah, just old fashioned American dipshits.
jesuriah@reddit
Now you too can own a civilian copy of the second or third worst U.S. service rifle in history.
poodlydoodles@reddit
As an m1a owner, I feel justifiably targeted.
Ironsight85@reddit
This is exactly what you guys said about m16's lol
CHESTYUSMC@reddit
The difference was that the M-16 was lighter, more accurate, could carry more ammo, was more resilient to weather, and had better capability for modularity.
What problem does this solve exactly? Lol
RonaldWRailgun@reddit
I never served so take my answer with a huge grain of salt, but I've had a couple of buddies who served and told the age-old anecdote of "shooting a whole mag into an insurgent before they stopped them".
Regardless of whether we believe that or not, the problem that tries to solve is, indeed, to field a more effective round, especially at distances.
Whether that's a valid concern or not, I have genuinely no idea. I still think they should have gone with, basically, a MRRG-A (and they might still end up going that way, if the rifle is as bad as they say, although part of me suspects that the critics are exaggerated, like it happens with every new gun ever fielded at the beginning).
highrocko@reddit
that's the problem with anecdotes like this, unless they were CQB, watching the shots hit, and then after everything was done, did a detailed autopsy, we're really not going to fully know if 556 really does suck or if the shooter is shooting at a distance, and they THINK they put hits onto the insurgent, when maybe far less of the rounds hit where they thought it hit.
But we do have more and more bodycam and reports from civilian side police, due to more and more police carrying AR's in the car and police doctrine getting more and more to utilizing the long gun whenever possible. And honestly, the few bodycam where cops place good hits with their AR, the perp goes down pretty quickly.
1378CRC@reddit
Yep, ask any hunter and they will claim that the bullet must have went right through it, instead of missing completely
BiggyIrons@reddit (OP)
Even if that’s true, it would be solved by using ammo this isn’t designed to pen light cover, but most of the time they say that because they missed most of the magazine and only landed a shot or two.
Old_MI_Runner@reddit
Designed for longer range of engagements that occurred in Afghanistan but unlikely to occur in our next ground war. But they kept the barrel short for CQB so high pressure round is required that creates its own set of problems.
BiggyIrons@reddit (OP)
Funny that you think our next war won’t be in the Middle East again.
Vintar@reddit
We don't believe we can teach servicemen to aim for the hips, so we better spend a few billion dollars so they don't have to aim at all
/s
Pickle_riiickkk@reddit
To be fair, The DoD intentionally used an out-of-spec gun powder and went against eugenes original designs (they felt chromed chambers were for the birds)
Basically the DoD told the engineers that they could engineer more gooder and it cost lives
BiggyIrons@reddit (OP)
The M7, M14, and whats the other, the Lee Navy?
ArmFun4566@reddit
To be fair the M14 is probably the most significant military small arm of the 20th century. If the ordinance department hadn't taken nearly a decade to add a magazine to an M1 garand and somehow fucked it so completely we wouldn't have the AR platform as we know it today. If the military had gone with the H&R produced T48 FAL instead of the m14 there is no way in hell you'd have been able to convince them to adopt yet another rifle a decade later, not to mention the logistics of changing calibers AND not having rifles and machine guns chambered in the same cartridge for the first time since before WW1. Armalite wasn't doing especially well as a business before the US picked their design up and probably would have fizzled out had that not been the case.
jesuriah@reddit
Yep. Funnily enough,it's also a 6mm projectile, that had similar issued to the M7, specifically throat erosion.
BiggyIrons@reddit (OP)
I wouldn’t mind eroding some throat if you know what I mean
zerogee616@reddit
At least the M14 has the excuse of basically just being an upgraded M1 and not regressing after the military already learned its lesson with Project SALVO.
CHESTYUSMC@reddit
What could possibly be worst than this or the M-14???
jesuriah@reddit
Lee Navy
BiggyIrons@reddit (OP)
Maybe the M15, which is a worse version of the M14
Carbs_Are_Satan@reddit
I’ve bought a lot of things because they were good looking, but I think I’m gonna pass on the reliability and accuracy issues. I’m also gonna pass on having 2 charging handles. That may not be the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard of compared to guns that were so bad they were basically inoperable, but it’s still hilariously stupid.
AlexSandman8964@reddit
FRT available for these rifles off the shelf?
BiggyIrons@reddit (OP)
Mostly. Any regular AR-15 FRT will work, but you need to get a trip bar for it which are pretty easy to get and fairly cheap
UCFKnights79@reddit
I actually do think this is a great price if you buy strictly as an investment.
BiggyIrons@reddit (OP)
Thats why I got one. Im betting on this rifle going away in the next decade. If push comes to shove, and we have to defend Taiwan from China (or what I like to call West Taiwan) we'll field this for about 6 months before Big Army realizes how bad of a decision it was and begins issuing everyone M4's again.
Papa_Zyn@reddit
Wouldn’t pay $1200 for one of these turds
EntertainmentTotal41@reddit
Yes you would.
TheGreatSockMan@reddit
I’d rather buy an AR10 that does the same thing, but better and almost certainly built by a better company
BiggyIrons@reddit (OP)
You can get a Gen 2 SCAR for this price, or a gen 1 for 1k less, and its going to do everything this does but better and its made by a better company. I only got one because its going to be a collectors piece one day. Its like shorting stock but with guns lol
Papa_Zyn@reddit
Nah, tbh I think I’d consider it at $800 but this serves no purpose to me that an AR10 couldn’t fill with a very nice optic and 500 rounds of ammo
CHESTYUSMC@reddit
Definitely not, and I’m one of those idiots who has spent over 2k for AK’s 3 different times like a fucking moron…
I’d honestly buy another AK for my collection lol
swoope18@reddit
Pass
Crafty-Strategy-7959@reddit
This + an FRT = bank account suicide
guacamoleburger@reddit
Put everything on credit then file for bankruptcy 💅💅
Legal-Practice2445@reddit
This entire sub is bank account suicide
Sasselhoff@reddit
Yeah, but it's fun bank account suicide...soooo?
NewCommunication1306@reddit
I briefly had a .308 version with that set up. Idk if it’s just the gassing on the .308 variant or what but it was so violently recoiling it wasn’t even fun. I’ve shot plenty of F/A G3s and FALs and they were stout but controllable. These are just not enjoyable guns.
Rich-Candidate-3648@reddit
That gun is unpleasant to be near forget shooting it. I was so excited for it then I shot it. Accurate for sure but I was so glad to give it back when I was done.
Sledgecrowbar@reddit
A short stroke piston 13" 308 designed for military reliability, i.e., overgassed to run when dirty, is about as unpleasant to shoot as you could design.
BiggyIrons@reddit (OP)
I have a SCAR and thats was fine to shoot, even before I installed an adjustable gas system. I also have a 6.5CM barrel for it and that was a dream
FrostyBit7602@reddit
😂😂😂
HairyPoppinzz@reddit
7BC for the win
youtouchmytralaala@reddit
Is it available in a not dog shit caliber?
BiggyIrons@reddit (OP)
They come in .308
BiggyIrons@reddit (OP)
Yeah I just looked at the velocity, it gets \~3,000FPS out of a 24” barrel.
McKoijion@reddit
This is the kind of rifle that Charlton Heston would let you take out of his warm, alive hands.
LoneRogue2018@reddit
Does this thing still break down hard when you over insert the mags in .01 inches too deep?
Im_Fishtank@reddit
Personal experience here but no, I tested with the PMAG it came with.
Although I only use Lancers when at the range.
AutomataDeObama@reddit
That would never be a problem in a combat situation. Our troops are trained to gingerly place each magazine into the magwell with their head against the rifle and slowly insert until they can hear the catch engage. Non-issue.
Underwater_Grilling@reddit
Just like my ex wife ehhhhh
No_Theory9958@reddit
Agreed, just like your ex wife

Been waiting for these to be sub 3800, had to pick one up finally
BiggyIrons@reddit (OP)
Id like to personally apologize to your bank account
EfficientBum@reddit
No thanks
CommercialEagle2566@reddit
Aw yes. The weapon that is heavier and carries less rounds but is supposedly better for military purpose. Hard pass
