I guess this is a dig at e-bikes, in the e-bike sub. And it’s also wrong. Plenty of pedaling in this video. Plenty of e-bikes do not have a throttle. My class 3 e-bike is one of them. I still do plenty of pedaling.

Yeah I agree, I’ve come across people while riding anything from 250w Walmart bikes to flat out surrons and stealth bombers.

We’re all just interested in each others bikes, appreciate the unique differences between them and talk about the ebike industry. The dick measuring contest doesn’t exist like it does on Reddit.

Generally, don’t give anyone a reason to be a Karen and you won’t really run into them.

I thought I was gonna get in a lot of shit by old people but they’re the most fascinated by it so far lol, they’re like “you mean this thing can go 40mph, get 30 miles of range, and cost 15c to fill up?? Wow this electric thing ain’t so bad” and then they’ll get excited when I tell them about the recumbent ebikes cause they’re usually unable to ride a normal bike.

With that said I ride normally, signal in traffic, ride predictably, and when I’m on a bike trail I go slow like the rest of the normal bike riders. Basically, if you’re a dick people aren’t going to like you - but the “ebike vs emoto” mentality doesn’t really exist irl.

Honestly if they were doing power wheelies and weaving between riders I’d understand, but the way they got their feet down it seems more so just balancing while coasting with the parade, all while maintaining distance and slow speed.

My mom and I have this conversation all the time. I just went home for a week and a half to LA and we’d fucking see this shit a bunch of times just in our part of west LA. That’s always my point that I make. $2000+ for an ILLegal electric dirt bike that goes as fast as a low displacement motorcycle or smart car at ages younger than you can even get your permit. She hates when they’re in the middle of the road doing wheelies and being dipshits and I just don’t understand how a 14-15 year old gets a hold of this shit other than the parents are functionally brain dead.

I got caught behind this group while in town seeing the city on my e-bike. I was so incredibly confused, lol. I have to say – it seemed fun, but they were incredibly disruptive. Lots of people going very quickly at night without consistent lighting, crossing roads and flying along bike paths. Many walkers and bikers had to pull over or risk being run over. I was glad to see how popular e-bikes were in the city, but kind of embarrassed to be seen with reckless riders…it kind of just felt like those big groups of dirt bikes and atvs that you get in cities.
