Sidewalks should have four separate lanes

Lane 1: Slow walkers
Lane 2: Fast walkers
Lane 3: Lane 1 but for slow walkers coming from the opposite way
Lane 4: Lane 2 but for fast walkers coming from the opposite way
No more side shuffles, no more cutting into the bike lane, just peace and order for every way and every speed of walker

A lot of downtowns used to have much wider sidewalks than they do now, but someone decided to repurpose much of the width for cars.

You've just pushed the r/fuckcars button, and now I'm mad about cars

Those are the four lanes they have. They are simply unmarked and it is up to all participants to stay in their Lane by knowing the rules.
In very large cities you will find this exact order taking place during pedestrian Rush hour.

Crazier idea: you should be allowed to kill people who walk too slow

My town is building some extra wide sidewalks on both sides of the road. It every walker walked on the same side as traffic headed in the same direction. It would essentially be 4 lanes wide (2 on each side of the road). Actually pedestrian highways are being reality. Look at Atlanta's beltway.

No sidewalk, no bike or car lanes, no traffic signs. Just road. Walk slow or fast, bike, drive wherever in any direction.
You're still legally liable if you hit someone or something.

you’re just describing a highway and i promise you people would still walk three abreast in the middle of all of them. nobody has the situational awareness for this.

Crazier idea- sidewalks should be a battle royale pvp zone.
Someone is slow? Shove them into traffic!
'On your left' - stick in your spokes!

The problem with every single implementation of combat is that there's always going to be someone who brings a gun and completely ruins it
Ban guns first

'maybe we'll even get ninjas back'
What did ninjas ever do to you?
GoatsWithWigs@reddit (OP)
Exactly, bring them back because they're fun
