Almost every song. I hear it and immediately flash back to either when I first heard it, or to a memory associated with the song.
MiscMel70@reddit
Actually it’s intro to TV shows that snatches me back.
The into to Gun Smoke & intro to MASH.
I’ve randomly caught these shows on throw back TV & now I’ll even go to YouTube to hear them.
I literally go back to under 10 years old, in Georgia, lying on the sofa on a hot summer day with the drone of a box fan going, my beloved grandma dozing in her fav chair by the window, and the smell of her Azaleas coming thru the door.
Jesus is almost like I’m physically there. I have a visceral reaction.
There are a few songs for me as well but they don’t transport me totally like these do
Pitiful-Asparagus940@reddit
this is gonna date me for sure.
but two songs in particular I heard when I rode the school bus to/from school (so it wasn't my choice!)
Loving You - Minnie Riperton

Funny, I loved this song and at the time didn't really know who Madonna was yet. Every time Lucky Star came on I thought it was going to be LHIFTB and then felt let down when it wasn't.
Let it be known I love both those songs.

Born in the USA. My best friend’s father was a Vietnam vet and they lived over the fence from us. He played that song non-stop the entire summer the year it came out and I have a really vivid memory of sitting in my backyard with my mother on my swingset. It’s one of those memories I can hear and smell.

Born in 1973, there are definitely two. "Let 'em In" - Wings and "Fly Robin Fly". Nostalgia for riding around in the back of the blue Dodge Dart with the NY Islanders window cling (took me a while to figure out the NY wasn't a sloppy M with a hockey stick).

“Hot Child in the City”
My sister had a bunch 45s (she kept them in a little case that looked like a pink fuzzy jim Henson puppet lol) and our family had one of those cabinet looking record player systems that basically looked like and acted like furniture.
That song was popular well ahead of my time, but that record was one my of my favorites. I also liked her “YMCA” record and my favorite was her full-sized double record of the soundtrack to “Grease”.
My brother had a birthday 45 record they got somewhere that said his name but we used it for all of us. “My name is Zoom, and I live on the moon… I came down to earth just to sing you this tune! Hey Jason, it’s your birthday! Today!” That was a fav too … anyone else know that one?

It was the last secular song of my childhood that I heard before my parents “found Jesus” and banned secular music in our home. That moment is just burned into my brain. My sister and I were jumping around, dancing and singing with one of those old Get In Shape Girl ribbons.
My mom came in and turned off our tape and told us no more music, no more dancing. That it was evil etc.

Don’t Bring Me Down by ELO. When I was 6yo I inherited my sister’s tiny little FM radio when she went to college and I remember hearing that song through its tiny little speaker while I danced in my bedroom. That driving beat, the guitars, the harmonies, freaking everything about it still gets me.

A lot of songs take me back to different points.
The first one that popped in my head is “Slip Slide and Away.” It puts me squarely at Skateboard City, the first (I believe) concrete skate park in Houston. Since the song came out in 77, that would put me in 6th/7th grade. I can visually recall skating and hearing that song.
“Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves” has me sitting in my sister’s bedroom in which she had hippy beads instead of a closet door, and had painted Hang Ten feet going up her wall and across the ceiling. I’d be like 6-8 years old.
“Love Rollercoaster” had us listening intently for the supposed murder/scream as a 10/11 year old.
A ton of others linked to high school experiences.

UB40's Red Red Wine and Bobby Mc Farin's (sp?) Don't Worry Be Happy.
They were playing on the radio while I was working at the shore in NJ one summer - August 1988 - driving an Eddie Bauer Edition of a Ford Bronco. Lol
Xavelle@reddit
Red red wine was playing at the restaurant my friends and I went to for lunch one day. Idk why that memory has stuck with me but everytime I hear it, I think of lunch that day.

Conga by Gloria Estefan and the Miami Sound Machine. I was briefly in jazz dance and it was the song we used in our recital. Idk why but every time I hear it that's where my mind goes. The weird thing is recently I've been hearing it a lot in random places, I NEVER play it myself.
