Reliable brands/bikes

Hello! I’ve been trying to get an E-bike recently and every time I think I found one I do a little research and people are telling me to steer clear of whatever bike/brand I’m looking at. It’s getting kind of tiring just blindly looking so I thought I could come here for help.
Here’s a quick overview of what I’m looking for to help out the context
Purpose: commuting to/from work (around 20 miles one way) and joyriding
About me: I am 5’9 and weigh around 180lbs. So something comfortable for that size would be awesome
Price: anything under $1,200 (I AM OK WITH BUYING USED! With the specs I’m listing I don’t know if I’m delusional looking for good specs at this price. So if I am let me know. Just please be nice about it 😅)
Range: 25+ miles (I would be using the full electric more than pedal assist for context. The higher range the better. Like if I could shoot for a range in the 30’s-40’s even all the up to like the 60’s that would be wonderful, But I’m mainly looking to fit in my price point.)
Top speed: 20mph+ (again. The higher the better of course. I would love to have one that went 30mph+ or however fast. But I prefer range to speed though. And of course price is the #1 factor)
Misc: I am looking for a bike that has a full electric mode. I know some are pedal assist only so I do want to clarify I am looking for one that I can use even without pedaling.
If anyone has suggestions for good e-bikes that are in this price range please let me know!!
And if you know any good brands/bikes out of this price range with those specs also let me know!!!
Thanks Y’all! :)

Can you charge the battery at work?

I can yes👍
BodSmith54321@reddit
Well if you can charge at work, Lectric has a few Xpress 1 bikes left for 1k.

RIDE1UP PORTOLA ~ $750
Pull the trigger now, the sale is ending!

I got so excited, I just brought the Portola myself! 😂

He probably needs the larger battery model.

My friend has this bike! It's fun. Roadster V3 also is amazing if you want torque sensing and a full sized bike frame. It also has a throttle. I got the geared version as it's better for power management.

Based on your needs, I recommend the PUJH PU256. The discounted price of 1199 perfectly meets your budget. Furthermore, its high-density lithium-ion battery pack offers a range of up to 100 miles on a single charge, enough for approximately five commutes. It features five assist modes, including the pure throttle electric mode you're most interested in. Of course, occasional use of the pedal assist system does have some health benefits. With a top speed of 38 mph, it's more than enough for your 20 mph+ needs. Therefore, I believe this motorcycle will meet all your requirements.

I have an aipas m2 pro and I love it and at under 1k I feel like I got a great deal and it’s a solid bike

The biggest reality check for doing 20 miles one way entirely on throttle is that almost any e-bike under $1,200 is going to be completely dead by the time you reach the office, meaning you'll absolutely need to charge it at your desk for the ride home. Because you'll be putting heavy daily mileage on the motor, I highly suggest avoiding the obscure Amazon brands and sticking to established, reliable companies like Velotric, Aventon, or Lectric that actually offer long-term parts and support. A full-size commuter frame is also going to be way more comfortable than a folding bike for a 40-mile daily round trip. I created a list for you as the starting point for you:

Best ebike brand I've dealt with: Happyrun
Another really good one: Coswheel
Worst ebike company ever dealt with: Aniioki

I’ve had two Ride1up Roadsters and an Aventon Abound. I like both brands. Aventon seems slightly more polished and comfortable and their throttles work pretty good. Ride1Up is slicker in my opinion but some of the details are perfect and the throttles aren’t super useful, at least on the Roadsters. But all in all I’ve never had problems with either brand and have enjoyed them

Aventon, Lectric, Ride1Up are all brands that I have experience with & were recommended to me by a specialty ebike shop for repairs & battery quality. Aventon has some of the best part availability if something breaks. All these brands have bikes in your budget. I would try to be a first owner from manufacturer so that you can use a warranty when any of these bikes. Ride1Up replaced my entire back wheel assembly after I broke a spoke and cracked the rim.

Buy a mid drive from upway.co.

Coming to Reddit was a mistake for reviews lol. People will shit on anything. I’m guilty of it as well though. One negative review spoils the thought process. I stopped looking and use Claude to compile what the majority says. I agree with Lectric. Have owned their EXpedition 1.0 and recently got their XPress2. They’ve been sold for customer support and haven’t had any issues. It’s Direct to consumer like Aventon and Volotric but I can say they’ve been sold so far and you can’t beat that price.

One more thing to think about buying used is the battery. If they live in a cold weather climate and keep it in their garage, it’s not good for them. How many cycles it has. When the battery is half the cost of the bike in some cases around 500 US, that is a major factor to think about.

Can only speak from experience. Take a look at a used Scott Aspect eRIDE

I recommend Lectric too. I talked to an e-bike mechanic, he thought they were a good bike.

The internet will always shit on brands. I never had an issue with Lectric though.
