What's the best home security system for the UK?

Hi all! I am a new homeowner in London and have been looking to get home security cuz I keep seeing news of burglaries.. I don't want anything too complex - a door alarm and a few cameras. I live in a house in a suburban area. I've read reviews on Ring and SimpliSafe but I'm not sure what to go for..
What home security system/alarm do you have? Are you happy with it?

Stop reading about burglaries.
Its a very rare event.
Just make your house less appealing to burglars than the one next door. So, good locks on the doors, venetian blinds, dont leave accessible windows open and no ladders in the garden. And a motion sensor light for dark spots around the perimeter is good, just make sure it doesnt annoy your neighbours

If you have a garden get some geese. No one will ever come into your garden without you knowing about it. They also bite which is a bonus.

What do you expect the system to do for you?
You can capture clear footage of burglars’ faces and the police will do nothing.
If you lay a finger on a burglar you can get years inside.
If you definitely want cameras then self-hosted Ubiquiti is king as it avoids cloud services. Or you can cheap out with hikvision etc and an open source DVR.
