Too good to be true? Lectric Expedition for $400

Guy wants $400 has owned it a year, says battery is good, but brakes need replacing. Is this a dated Expedition or a good deal? Thought it could be fun to whip the kids around in this summer.

used ebikes are almost always an HBC blanket. they look like a sweet deal, but they're actually just a pox.
getting it maintaining it is going to suck. something is probably broken. the battery is usually pooched. and then to top it off, its often actually stolen.
just buy new for ebikes.

Meh, if it's legit I'd take a chance.
At $400 though I'm searching the serial number on bike index before I fork over the cash though.

If the bike isn’t stolen and hypothetically the battery is toast he would still be coming in under new for all new batteries and Lectric will send a new motor and wheel without much headache. Any other brand I’d be more inclined to agree but these things are dead simple. Source I own 2 one brand new one used with 2500+ miles on it now

The issue is most of y’all looking for a bike for $500 with all the bills and whistles with 100 miles range with 30 to 50 mph speed and y’all think y’all gonna find that bike for $400. That’s most of your issue what do you want him to give you the bike for $40?

I’m just wondering if $400 is fair, high, or low. Not looking for a diamond deal.
LanguageCheap3732@reddit
If this isn’t stolen that is your diamond deal lol

Some people don’t care how much it’s worth. He probably just wants to get rid of it quickly. Does this take a key and has a charger? If so take it today.
snoogins355@reddit
Yup. If he has the key (2 keys come with it) and charger, he probably just wants it gone. I sold my old xp 2.0 for $550 recently to clear up space. It was folded in my shed for over a year. Good bike but I am not a fan of the folding design to get to the battery and needed more power and range for my needs
Legitimate-Choice636@reddit
I’m always looking for a bike for 500 a list that doesn’t work cause I’m pretty sure the issue that needs to be fixed is gonna cost you less than 100 bucks just like my current bike. What I’m building I bought it for 350 in the Dodge city doesn’t work. I have parts at home to start the cables back together and the fucking bike turned on and only had 400 miles on it and it wasn’t working and he sold it for 350 but if I was you, I would’ve been thinking no I shouldn’t buy that for 350.😂😂
frequentfoxer@reddit (OP)
Totally, that’s a perfect example!
AskMeHowToLose@reddit
Has it taken damage? What kinds of maintenance or repairs has the bike been through? Had it a year to depreciate that much?
I mean Lectric did have a good sale this weekend, so maybe they’re just looking for quick cash to offset some of their upgrade costs - and not a greedy reseller looking to squeeze every penny out of a used bike…
Hard to tell.
What questions have you asked the seller? What has the seller said?
frequentfoxer@reddit (OP)
I’ve only asked how long he owned it, if there’s a problems. He said it needs new brakes and he’s had it a year. I’m seeing the same bike new listed at $1,399…
Glowingtomato@reddit
$400 seems a little low but I know I've sold things for great deals just to get them out
frequentfoxer@reddit (OP)
Exactly…
Legitimate-Choice636@reddit
If you believe it’s stolen all you have to do is get the serial number go to the police station and see if that bike is stolen
Legitimate-Choice636@reddit
I think a lot of y’all in the Ebike community are still close when it comes to Ebike all these bikes are the fucking same especially the 48 volts, 28 mph Ebike most of these shit using the same fucking batteries the same fucking controllers the same motors and y’all still lost in the fucking Sauce bro

If the bones seem solid I’d jump all over it.

As a current MTB rider you just mean components correct? Looking for grinding, running and rust wise…or other things I need to look at differently for an e bike?
mikep120001@reddit
There’s little that can rust on them. They’re mostly aluminum. I’ve rode mine through mild rainstorms I couldn’t avoid. If you’re handy they can treat you well. I’d suggest getting their original order number for when you’ll need to reach out to Lectric. Things will fail but they’ll send part after part to keep you moving
Legitimate-Choice636@reddit
In my opinion, the frame alone is worth four fucking hundred dollars so it’s a good deal
Legitimate-Choice636@reddit
I see y’all don’t understand how ebikes work even if this bike doesn’t work for four fucking hundred dollars if you put another 400 to 500 into the fucking life and you got a good fucking bike
Significant-Pen-6049@reddit
If it's not stolen the guy has no idea it's worth way more .
