What's a name in your country that nobody under 50 would ever have?

I was thinking recently about how I don't know a single person named "Jim" despite it being a very common American name historically.
ur-mom-gay-lolol@reddit
The old Turkish names. You’ll be hard pressed to find a young Albanian with a name like Enver, Muhamet, Ahmet, Xhevat, Xhemal, Ibrahim, Isa, Mahmut, Hatixhe, Ali and others
Dizzy_Arachnid4292@reddit
Alojzije, Zdenko, Joža, Đuro
Either_Television143@reddit
Reading these names saddens me unexpectedly...it reminds me how my familys' once lively village has now lesser inhabitans every year. I hardly hear a cockrow there anymore :( It got awfully quiet thete.
BardhyliX@reddit
Shaban, Hasan, Adem, Shefik, Hysen, Xhelil, Xhelal, Muharrem, Hatixhe...
Some still do but usually they're very rare and old-style names from the 40s and 50s (mostly arabic origin names as you can see)
FreeThem2019@reddit
Adem and Xhelal are still fairly common among Macedonian Albanians. Hasan to a lesser extent, but the rest are virtually out of use among newborns.
BardhyliX@reddit
I couldn't look at a kid seriously if their name is like "Shaban" I associate that with old people too much.
kuhinjski@reddit
At one point during the 60s Dragan was one of the most popular names i guess and now it would be just weird to see a little kid named Dragan
determine96@reddit
Radivoje ?
By the way is there even such name in Serbia xD
I'm asking because there was a short Bulgarian video ones and the character said something about Radivoje from Serbia, but when I think about it I haven't heard or can think of Serbian named that.
BlastEndendSkrewt@reddit
My grandfather was Radivoje, nicknamed Radoje
Swimming_Bear_3082@reddit (OP)
Really? I thought every other man in Serbia was a Dragan
kuhinjski@reddit
Older people yes but for younger people no. Funny thing is that Dragan was first a popular name to call your horse.

There is also female version, Šahbaza.
SoftwareArtist123@reddit
İskender. It is the Turkish equivalent of the name Alexander so it was incredibly popular once but since it is the name of one of most popular dishes in Türkiye; nobody gives it to their children now.
RomanMSlo@reddit
Obviously, it's too similar to the Russian ballistic missile system.
SoftwareArtist123@reddit
I didn’t even know that 😂😂
Efficient_Resource15@reddit
Vasile, I think it's entirely seen as a peasant-ish name noe and people avoid it
v-s-g@reddit
Стамат
Nikoschalkis1@reddit
You have Stamatis as a name damn.
deyannn@reddit
And Ставри as a form of Stavros. Though I did meet a Stavros who is under 50.
vbd71@reddit
And Panagiotis too
GasCold2074@reddit
You, in Greece have it. We have it as a name but no one under 50 has it.
AdvancedAd3228@reddit
Does it mean something? We have a shitty politician in Serbia with that name in a base of his surname.
vbd71@reddit
Someone who stops evil, IMHO
AdvancedAd3228@reddit
This slime did just the oposite of that.
Stealthfighter21@reddit
It means something in Greek
_sleepy__kitty_@reddit
I fucking hate that guy... 😭
v-s-g@reddit
It doesn’t mean anything - simply an old name that I doubt anyone nowadays will name their kid like this. There are plenty of names like this that our great grandparents used to have that simply sound from a different era.

All Turkish women's names ending in "-zade." They still exist, though they are rare. For example: Gülzade. In the past, they were much more common.

Used to be quite common and my grandpa was named Vergil, but you don't really hear it often anymore.
Maybe not go as far as 50 but you'd be hard pressed to find anyone under 40 with that as a first name now
kuhinjski@reddit
Vergil Vandijcu is Romanian confirmed?
RaiLeddit@reddit
Along with Codin Gacpau and Ion Gravenbescu
kuhinjski@reddit
They do be having that Romani skin colour tho. Idk how we havent noticed.
Lonely-Ad8869@reddit
Damn such a cool name, I bet it will make a comeback
Strong-Aspect-8614@reddit
Also Zenoviu was once used but less so nowadays. Other cool names in this line which are still popular: Cezar/Cezara, Claudiu/Claudia , Traian , Marius, Tiberiu , Octavian , Adrian/Adriana, Flavius/Flavia , Ovidiu , Horatiu , Titus.

Way too many names to list really. They just sound so old timey when I hear them, kind of like Ebenezer in english.
For women, basically every single name that ends in -ka has been left in history. Only 80y old babushkas would have names ending in -ka.
Penka, Minka, Tinka, etc.
For men, pretty much every name ending in -cho has the same old sounding effect to it.
Raicho (yes like the pokemon, yes it's a legit bg name), Petko, Stanko, etc.
