how yall feelin about my top 3 next car choices?

i graduate soon and i want a more enthusiast car when i can. my impreza is insanely fun but i fucking hate working on my boxer😠although the 5 speed makes up for it. super fun car just slow, it’s super reliable tho so i’ll keep for a good amount of time too (it’s got like 20k on the engine from previous owner) but when it’s time is up, here are my top choices based on how successful i am in a few years.
(‘worst’ case to best case)
2015 Civic SI
Evo X GSR (only god damn trim with manual)
Focus RS
the evo would probably feel the most familiar+it looks the best. the focus would easily be the best daily since its newer and from what i’ve heard more fun because of the cool ass awd system. and the civic is if i’m not as successful as i hoped, still love that car though. last NA k24 civic ever+the best gas mileage i’m pretty sure.
obv if i can’t afford any i’ll stick with my impreza. so what do yall think
jrileyy229@reddit
You're looking at a few years into the future... It's a waste of brain cycles. Cross that bridge when you get to it
Chas_1956@reddit
I will be crossing a different bridge before I need three more cars.
Creme-Crusader@reddit (OP)
this was a rather useless comment. doesn’t hurt to plan out big purchases or know what other cars you want
jrileyy229@reddit
You basically said "3 years from now I'll buy one of these cars based on how much money I have... Or I'll just keep driving the boring car I have now"
Okay, cool. Great plan. So when you ask "what do you think?"... What are you expecting the results to be?
Creme-Crusader@reddit (OP)
to talk to people about cars. to interact with the car community. i want to hear people’s opinions because i enjoy talking about cars. god fuckin redditor neckbeards i swear
jrileyy229@reddit
And you think you communicated that well? If you wanted to discuss these three cars, you may have wanted to actually mention that.
You wanted an opinion on your plan, and you got one. Planning to do one of 4 possible things... Three years into the future... When your life is about to change drastically... Is a waste of brain cycles.

"how yall feeling about my next 3 car choices" seems pretty cut and dry to me. wanna pull your head out of your ass and have some fun?
Dirt077@reddit
Why can't people just fantasize? Just let the man have his fun, even if plans are likely to change. Not like he's signing a loan agreement.
Ok-Raise-4853@reddit
I remember when reddit used to be like a forum you get to talk about stuff like this. Now you got this insufferable neckbeard who got nothing else to do
Boring-Source2395@reddit
Agreed the neck beards are buzz kills man plus they tend to be the ones that are also moderators so figure that one out
Iacoboni04@reddit
Honestly shocked somebody said these things will appreciate in value. Um, no, they wont.
-Goatzilla-@reddit
Yeah, I was shocked too. Who the fuck thinks a Civic Si will appreciate in value? Lol.
Iacoboni04@reddit
If I am being charitable the person who wrote that probably thinks EVs will take over and thus ICE cars will be a hot commodity. But logically we know that wont happen anytime soon and there are many other ICE cars than a Ford Focus RS or 2015 SI people would probably pay top dollar for.
numenik@reddit
I’d get the RS

Meta discussion:
- These are plans you're thinking about a few years out, but you're looking at cars that are 10 years old *now*. If you can afford some of these, open your search to newer cars that are less likely to have issues. Embrace modernity. I'm going to be painfully real with you-- the market is evolving and if you're looking for a daily, don't wrap your choices all around very rare cars, and don't get hung up on a manual transmission. It's fun, it's fine, but it's dying in the US market. Focus your energy on avoiding CVTs. Embrace turbos, and don't get hung up on NA engine. Hybrids have even gotten pretty darn good. In short-- cast a much wider net.
- Specifically with the Focus RS, I'm actually surprised looking now that some of these are coming on the market for *only* $25-35k because when they were new... 9 years ago... they commanded a massive premium over MSRP. Probably (and this will be true of the Mitsubishi) they're being flipped because they're not good on the street-- they're too focused on being a car you tracked on the weekends but legal to drive on the street. They're fun to drive if you have a fun road. They're a huge pain in the ass to drive if you're commuting in stop and go traffic.
Whenever you're ready to buy, figure out what your budget is and re-adjust *then*. There are fun cars out there that will be less difficult to maintain and easier to drive on the street as a daily. If you have budget for a daily *and* for example, an Evo X GSR or a Focus RS that's fine-- but the upkeep of 2 cars, insurance, a garage, etc. can be no joke.

don’t worry i’m always changing it up, it really pisses off my friend bringing up my new idea lol. but your advice is incredibly solid, i don’t mind cars being old at all and i prefer it 99% of the time if its well maintained but cars like these will most likely raise in price. i’ve got other ideas for what i can find but these are my top choices. there’s others that are newer. the newest car i have on my list is a mazda3 manual, a lot more boring but a damn good car and i’ve actually been able to drive one. but your advice is very good thank you
wedditmod@reddit
Bro get a manual if thats what you like. Its awesome.
Get a car that you like to drive. Who cares how practical it may / may not seem to others.
Just enjoy life. (Obviously stay well within your financial means, do not going broke enjoying life).

2015 Honda civic si 0-60 in 6.8 Ford Focus 0-60 4.7 Mitsubishi Evo X 4.5-4.7
All these cars haven't been sold in the US for at least a decade so I'm assuming this is for UK? Or if for the US, just short lived models. That would have me a bit worried.
How about a 2019+ Miata which can make 0-60 happen in 5.4 seconds and have more fun with corners while getting good fuel economy? Although to be honest, even though I've owned my 2021 MX-5 since new, I have no idea what kind of gas mileage I get since I leave mine on average MPH not MPG. Plenty of go fast parts available since they race these more than any other vehicle.
These days, Mitsubishi only makes rebadged SUV
Dirt077@reddit
All 3 likely to appreciate over time. I would pick the Evo because it's less common
Creme-Crusader@reddit (OP)
the evos probably my favorite too but i’d have to feel how it drives compared the focus plus those are much easier to find too lmao
Dirt077@reddit
Yeah definitely would want to drive them all. I've driven the civic and an RS. I personally preferred the civic just for the engine and transmission, but the RS was way way faster.
Probably worth checking out a Golf R as well, if you're looking for awd sporty dailies.
Creme-Crusader@reddit (OP)
true i do want to avoid germans just a little, i do all my own maintenance, mods, and tragedies so that would be a pain. never see the Rs either always just the GTIs. i know they’re actually pretty damn reliable too all things considered
Dirt077@reddit
They're super reliable and not too hard to work on imo. But I mostly work on German stuff. Very very tunable.
Zestyclose_Paint3922@reddit
Ball knowledge.
ChemistRemote7182@reddit
I distrust the Focus's AWD system, I do not distrust the system used in the Evo as there is decades behind it, same deal for your 5 speed Subaru.
Tuques@reddit
2/3 are choices I like
PopUpPulsarNx@reddit
I put 10 years and 100k miles on a 2004 matrix xrs. My vote would be for the honda, since a zippy NA car is going to be super cost effective to run for thousands of miles. Easier to work on and get parts for.
mmfla@reddit
I think Evo’s will continue to run as collectors cars and will go up in value to the point that a regular person won’t want to buy them.
Civic would be where I would go.
