I don’t support killing in general. But you’re implying monarchists and other types of rulers didn’t kill entire families for hundreds of years before the French and Russian revolutions? Not even just directly through their sicko shit. Through also mass starvation, imprisonment, lack of care, wars, mass production, etc.

Yes the systems that replaced them did similar things. But that doesn’t make the original system any inherently or morally superior.

The argument to killing the royal family is “we are surrounded by dozens of royal families that will invade us, fight tooth and nail against us, to put some son or nephew on the throne. So they must be wiped out entirely.” Look at the Russian Civil War and how many countries aided the Whites against the Reds. When the French Revolution failed what happened? France’s neighbors immediately imposed a monarchy again— this time some uncle if I recall.

Again I think it’s evil. But so was the system they were replacing. A thousand year dynasty of oppression that ground people into dust. Is it any small wonder why the system that replaced it mirrored it?
