Hi everyone! How is the cadet interview process for PSA? Interested in questions they ask and what they look for. Do you get flight benefits if you get accepted?

I applied right when I got my private pilot certificate, I’m about to finish up instrument. Are we supposed to update our applications as we progress? I didn’t see anywhere on the portal to do so.

When did you apply and how long did it take you to get an interview?

I just joined their Cadet programmed last november. The base level Cadet interview is more of a get to know you than an actual interview. Senior Cadet any CPL should be able to pass no problem if you just study IFR regs and Jep charts a little bit. No flight benefits after senior cadet though unless they offer you the contract which is a long list from what I hear.

I’m a cfi cfii Mei. Does that mean I’ll be going thru as a senior cadet?

Yeah, you'll do both in one Zoom call and they'll have questions on HR stuff and the technical stuff.

The Cadet interview is honestly a joke. It's just super basic questions like "What got you into aviation", "What are your aviation goals"..... It's damn near impossible to not get accepted.
Senior Cadet is what you do after you get your commercial and that's whare it gets more technical. You'll have to decipher Jep charts and things like that. You get flight benefits after that.
Cadet instructor is after you get your CFI. It's an HR interview and the last one you do. If accepted you'll be building hours and waiting for a class up date.

So I’m a cfii Mei. So that means I’ll be going straight to cadet instructor? Or after time? Thank you so much!

They are looking for reasons to disqualify you, not to hire you, so your main job is to avoid giving them any. The questions will be mostly behavioral, focusing on things like "tell me about a time you made a mistake", "how do you handle conflict with a coworker", and "why do you want to fly for PSA". They care far more about your personality, attitude, and decision-making process than your current technical knowledge. They want to know if you are teachable, if you can take criticism, and if you will be a safe, reliable pilot who can eventually become a captain. Your every answer should show them you are a low-risk, high-potential investment.
Bring up your entire life experience, not just your time in an airplane, because they want to see a well-rounded person with maturity. Showcasing how you handled challenges in a previous, non-aviation job can be more powerful than just talking about a crosswind landing. They know they will teach you how to fly their jets, but they can't teach you to have a good attitude or a solid work ethic. You have to prove you already have that. Regarding your other question, you will get full flight benefits once you are officially an employee in the program. My team actually built a tool over at interviews.chat that's been helping candidates walk into these kinds of discussions and clearly show they're the right person for the job.
