Men today spend more time pursuing beer than women?

This provocative assertion was made by my girlfriend few months ago while drinking beer and to entice me, to, well, pursue her (I liked her, but didn't know if it was mutual).
But i think there is merit to this statement

Beer is cheaper.
Beer won't sleep with your neighbor.
Beer won't get sassy.
Sharing a beer with your friends is more socially accepted than sharing a woman with your friends.
Do you want me to go on?

But beer is not always cold ;)
heatseaking_rock@reddit
You should stop drinking tea.

Meh, tbh I think we put too much responsibility on the men to do all the pursuing. If I was a guy, I would have spent my 20s perpetually single too 😅
P-l-Staker@reddit
I think there's a bit of selection bias here. Lots of girls are absolutely vicious when it comes to flirting and are happy to make... a very bold... first move. Let's put it that way.
Those girls are almost always taken. Girls who just sit on their arse and do nothing are more likely to be single and thus moan.
Infamous_Dish_4348@reddit
Yeah good looking guys get pursued a lot, I’d wager the majority of women would make the first move if they really like the guy unless they’re extremely anxious or conservative

The issue is a constant across every country, all men want Margot Robbie but they're aware of their looks so they date their equivalent.
Women tend to have this delusional fantasy that the only thing stopping them from dating Henry Cavill, is the physical distance between them.
P-l-Staker@reddit
Meh. That's unfair. Blokes have the same illusions at times.
venit_enim_ad_me@reddit (OP)
only thing stopping me from dating Margot Robbie is that I don't find her attractive
Infamous_Dish_4348@reddit
The difference is women can get the guy above them… for a night or two
EfficiencySmall4951@reddit
Can confirm, I am good looking and have been hit on quite a bit. Still single as I'm too socially inept though haha

I'm happy to hear there are girls that make the first move. Thinking back to all my friend groups since primary school, we either got into a friends-to-lovers scenario or a guy chatted us up
ilovemangos3@reddit
I mean it’s pretty objective that people are more single than before, at least by the metrics i’ve seen recently

Honestly, I just think people get into relationships later.
A year ago, entirety of my friend group was solo, (all 10 of us). Then in a year, one by one, we all found a girl.

Younger generation drinks like 80% less alcohol, so fake.
iheartloud420@reddit
Maybe true for america but not here
venit_enim_ad_me@reddit (OP)
90% of people under 18 consume alcohol here
peev22@reddit
Not far away from the truth.

It’s safer, most of the men deal with a lot of rejection (mainly because of unrealistic expectations from the women), so it’s easier to drink beer instead of suffer the shame.
VanillaMean6791@reddit
Fr tho, same. I’m a woman and once I actually started shooting my shot, life got like 10x more fun and way less confusing 😂
A lot of dudes are shy or terrified of being “creepy,” so if we like someone and just sit there waiting, everyone loses.
ShitassAintOverYet@reddit
I don't pursue women because I'm aromantic. I do pursue beer because I'm a food science student and my thesis is focused on beer. Doesn't make her correct though, both alcohol consumption and dating are less popular with Gen Z.

Also you know how good beer is nowadays. You have variety and all different kinds of beer. This was her move to get your attention.
determine96@reddit
I mean, you don't need to chase the beer that much.
When with women, "you are too pushy, I need some personal space", one day after that "why didn't you call me yesterday, we women need some attention", "Ok, two days ago you said the opposite", "This was different, just that day I was blah, blah, and you're giving up two quickly, blah-blah", hangs up the phone, call my bro "Do you want to drink beer, bro ?", "Yeah, I was just about to call you, I bought two stacks"- and this is in brought terms the explanation of that phenomenon.

Young_Owl99@reddit
Today no, young generations don’t drink as much.
But historically of course.

Unable-Stay-6478@reddit
Yes, because beer can't nag. It actually helps with the incoming nag absorption.
So, dear beer... I love you.
