Never have I ever, Xennial edition... Never have I ever watched one of the Land Before Time movies.

Now it's your turn. What's a "Xennial" thing you've never done?
sodontfuckitup@reddit
Never have I ever seen Titanic. No, for real.
Chuckles_McNut@reddit
nope- and pretty sure I never will...
beattysgirl@reddit
Ope, I just commented the same! Not even once.
Taint_Flicker@reddit
Me as well. Didn't think there would be so many of us.
BrattyTwilis@reddit
For me, there was no avoiding it. My mom was a Titanic afficiando and we ended up seeing it a few times while it was first run. It's all anybody would talk about for like the next 4 or 5 months and "My Heart Will Go On" was plastered all over the radio
blahb31@reddit
My sister and I have a pact that we will never see Titanic. We were turned off by all of the media and advertising and the "Celine Dion" song.
HereWeFuckingGooo@reddit (OP)
I've still never seen Romeo + Juliet.
dewihafta@reddit
Youre not missing much.
We tried to show it to our teen a couple years ago, since he was reading it in school. My husband and i had initially seen it in the theater, since I was a Leo fan at the time. (Yes, we saw Titanic, too.)
Got as far as the first shootout (the incident between houses) and had to turn it off. My husband and i were dying of cringe and our kid was like, “what the hell did i just watch?”
purpleteenageghost@reddit
I won’t accept this slander of a Luhrmann masterpiece.
beattysgirl@reddit
HipHopChick1982@reddit
I watched it in 9th grade Literature class after reading it (1997-1998), and only just found out recently that Paul Rudd was in it. Honestly, seeing it in school would have been the only way to get me to see it.
sugarturtle88@reddit
i grew up in a small town with a one screen theater and Titanic showed as the only movie for a month straight... i didn't want to watch it and confused my poor mom by asking her to ground me a few times over that month to convincingly get out of watching it... still haven't seen it and still have no desire to but love documentaries on the Titanic, I've just never enjoyed romance movies 🤷🏻♀️
Nola_Nativ@reddit
😳😳
MrsDonaldDraper@reddit
Never! I was so anti-Titanic that my friend and I went to a theater that was still showing LA Confidential on Oscar night out of “protest”. I didn’t and still don’t care about the Oscars, but LA Confidential deserved the win😅
GrumpyOldHistoricist@reddit
I just rewatched *LA Confidential* and let me tell you it’s as good as you remember.
histprofdave@reddit
It's a well constructed film but it's one of the most overrated movies of the 90s because of the hype it got. I'm shocked Kim Basinger won an Oscar for a movie she's barely in.
NeoZ33D@reddit
Nope. Never will.
ChiMara777@reddit
My 8th grade class went to see it on opening day. No clue why.
crowislanddive@reddit
Me neither!
No-Bottle-5172@reddit
Count me in! Didn’t want to see it then or now
RealityOk9823@reddit
I refuse to watch it.
TheStatusFoe@reddit
Same. I refused to watch a romance film in the theater. Its popularity erupted and everyone was talking about. Then it just became my hill to die on.
jjmawaken@reddit
My high school history teacher saw it in the theater like 10 times. I never went to see it once. Have seen the movie 1 time since then but not even sure I've watched the entire thing.
ut1nam@reddit
The score is amazing though. And the first 30 min or so really just gets you pumped for an adventure. I’d say it’s worth one watch.
TheStatusFoe@reddit
But then I cant say I never watched it... it was the same for Top Gun until recently. I have now watched that movie. Nothing special about saying that.
drwebb@reddit
Me too!
Left_Maize816@reddit
Never had the slightest interest. plus when it came out it was everything I didn't want to watch.
LunchMeatJones@reddit
Me neither. It's a chick flick. I'm not watching that.
Negative-Wrap95@reddit
Same. I have deliberately avoided it at all costs.
Now, imagine being a guitar geek and instead of 035 and Sweet Child o' Mine, it was little girls playing MHWGO on every synth in the store.
Steel1000@reddit
Same - a few years into it and it was like I can do this!
Accurate-Temporary73@reddit
I saw Titanic in theaters with one of my first GFs. I think sophomore year of HS and there were people sitting in aisles and everything. It was so over booked
TheVonSolo@reddit
Same. Back when it came out my girlfriend asked me to see it but I couldn’t because my band just booked a show out of town. She then asked if we could do it the next weekend but my band was then recording so we would be away the whole weekend in a studio.
She goes “it’s me or your loser friends” I told her that was an easy choice, my friends every time.
As she’s leaving I told her I would “never see that fuckin movie ever.” And I’ve held true to that promise.
OkMeringue2249@reddit
Everyone in here who’s never seen it just blew my mind away
I watch it at least once a month sometimes more
The-Good-Bad-Place@reddit
Same!
litchick@reddit
Yep. Zero interest in this movie.

Me either
underweasl@reddit
nor have i - it came out in the cinema when i was about 16 and was far too cool and alternative to go and see a slushy romance. Ended up going to see Up and Under which is some forgettable rugby film instead

Never have I ever been able to see the picture in a 3D magic eye poster.

Never have I ever tried a Viennetta cake.
therealpopkiller@reddit
Same on all 3 counts. I can see the 3D effect, just cannot for the life of me figure out what they’re supposed to be.
Obi_Wan_Benobi@reddit
Try looking through it, if that makes sense. The magic eye. Crossing your eyes then refocusing sometimes works as well.
Regardless, it’s probably a schooner.
BrattyTwilis@reddit
I didn't learn how to do Magic Eye until a few years ago and now I have to try every one I see now
thebackwash@reddit
I haven’t either and at this point I’m convinced that everyone is just pretending so they’re not the odd one out. 3D magic eye pictures are a damn lie. I will die on this hill.
HereWeFuckingGooo@reddit (OP)
It's a schooner!

And in reality it's just a bunch of shapes in that picture
defective_toaster@reddit
Haha you dumb bastard that's a sail boat.
HereWeFuckingGooo@reddit (OP)
A schooner IS a sail boat, stupidhead!

YourOwnPunkyBrewster@reddit
Me too!!! Still to this day I can’t!! I think I’m broken
crowislanddive@reddit
I feel seen, though!
-R-o-y-@reddit
Haha, I struggle with those too. I one was at an exhibition with my father and brother. They were jumping from one image to the next, but I couldn't see any of them despite trying. I did manage from a book at home strenuously.
sparkletigerfrog@reddit
How have you managed to avoid ALL of these things? :o
Thamnophis660@reddit
Never have I ever owned a G.I. Joe figure. Watched the show, saw the movie, had friends who had them...idk parents thought between my Ghostbusters and Thundercats I had enough toys.
FalseQuestion7864@reddit
There's more than one?
I'm pretty sure I saw the first one. O was born in 77, and I seem to remember seeing this on the projector screen in the media room off the cafeteria in elementary school. But I'm not sure. When did it come out?
dontletyourcrownslip@reddit
NHIE watched buffy the vampire slayer or Beetlejuice
HereWeFuckingGooo@reddit (OP)
Kuroiryuu@reddit
I’ve never seen the Alien trilogy. I know. Shame. I really need to get on that.
HereWeFuckingGooo@reddit (OP)
Immediately. If you can find it, watch "The Assembly Cut" of Alien 3. It's better than the theatrical release.
Kuroiryuu@reddit
Will do!
bullseye11b@reddit
Never have I ever seen the movie My Girl. The ending got spoiled when I was a kid and just never got around to watching it.
HereWeFuckingGooo@reddit (OP)
Whenever I lose my glasses I say, "Where is his glasses? He can't see without his glasses, put his glasses on!".
Seriously though, the ending is such a small part of the overall story that it's still worth watching.
higglesworth@reddit
Had a stuffed little foot that was my dude as a kid
jibegirl@reddit
Never ever have I watched Office Space
Wild_Owl_511@reddit
As a xennial girl, I never read a single babysitters club book and I’ve always been an avid reader.
Stitchin_Squido@reddit
Same. I was more of a fantasy book fan.
Wild_Owl_511@reddit
I'm glad I'm not the only one! I was also a very advanced reader - reading on a 12+ grade level in elementary school - so those books were kinda boring and easy for me.
Stitchin_Squido@reddit
Same! And as an ND girl, the social dynamics in babysitter’s club didnt interest me at all.
Taint_Flicker@reddit
Never have I ever seen Titanic
karaloveskate@reddit
Never have I ever watched return to oz.
switheld@reddit
oh don't. it is nighmare fuel
karaloveskate@reddit
I’ve heard that, but from clips I have seen it doesn’t seem like much.
HereWeFuckingGooo@reddit (OP)
It's really not. It's just a much darker tone than The Wizard of Oz, but it's on the same level as Dark Crystal or Labyrinth.
karaloveskate@reddit
More nightmare fuel than nightmare on elm street? Cause I saw that way too young
switheld@reddit
i never saw that one! too scary for me, but i kinda know the story. this one is less you're gonna get murdered in your dreams and more "weird creatures" jumpscare scary
don't google The Wheelers
HereWeFuckingGooo@reddit (OP)
karaloveskate@reddit
I’ve seen those wheelers. But as an adult so I felt nothing.
lgndk11r@reddit
or Princess Mombi.
Archaeo-Frog@reddit

nohombrenombre@reddit
But have you seen “The Wiz”?
HereWeFuckingGooo@reddit (OP)
So many people were traumatised by it but this was one of my favourite movies as a kid. I wanted to be Princess Mombi when I grew up. I was a twisted kid that loved weird shit.
MetsFan3117@reddit
Don’t!! My mom was strict with what I watched growing up and didn’t know how horrific that movie was. Gave me nightmares for weeks.
HereWeFuckingGooo@reddit (OP)
WHEELERS!!!!!!!!!!
lgndk11r@reddit
Please don't, it's terrifying NOW, let alone to little me.

TomPalmer1979@reddit
It does but it turned into a music site where up and coming bands can share their music, not really a social network anymore.

CosmicBureaucrat@reddit
Never have I ever seen the Evil Dead films.
VA1N@reddit
This was me until about 3 or 4 years ago. Decided to just sit down and watch them one weekend when the wife and kids were out of town. It was alright…I think most people view it from a nostalgic standpoint and it carries a lot more weight with them.

Never have I ever seen Faces of death
beattysgirl@reddit
To be fair, Evil Dead is nothing like the other two you’ve listed. It is a great movie, one of my favorites!
CosmicBureaucrat@reddit
Absolutely fair comment the only link between them is bragging teenage boys in mid-nineties West-Germany.
Negative-Wrap95@reddit
The original trilogy
translucentcop@reddit
I haven’t seen Evil Dead 2…yet.
Archaeo-Frog@reddit
Ditto
_buffy_summers@reddit
I also have not seen these movies. I have an ex-husband who had a few things he was obsessed with. These films were one; the band Kiss was another. It's been more than two decades since I divorced him, but I still refuse to listen to that band. Our divorce didn't make them good. Besides, if I feel like seeing something with Bruce Campbell in it, there's Burn Notice or Crimewave.
morganalefaye125@reddit
That was Motley Crue for me
onetwobucklemyshoooo@reddit
Kiss sucks, so that's understandable. Your ex husband probably sucks as well, but Kiss sucks on its own.
ZaphodBeeblebrahx@reddit
Fully, you are not missing anything by not listening to Kiss.
_buffy_summers@reddit
He was, and probably still is, an absolute worm. He learned nothing from our relationship, I know, because my youngest sister had a talk with his next ex after their relationship ended. He lied to her about everything, too.

VA1N@reddit
Never have I ever watch St. Elmo’s fire or Breakfast Club start to finish. I’ve been in the room when it was on, caught it midway through on TV, but for some reason never watched those two movies in a full sitting. Pretty in Pink used to be on this list but my wife was so offended by that claim that she made me watch it.

I've never seen The Big Lebowski, despite probably being a prime target audience member.
Eastern-Joke-7537@reddit
It holds up pretty well.
The movie is set in SoCal in the early 1990s.
I was a kid in SoCal during that time frame so that part was pretty cool.
fossilreef@reddit
The Big Lebowski is one of those films that holds up despite being a product of the times. It's just so absurd that it works.
QueenBean730@reddit
1980 here and never watched the land before time movies
Agent17@reddit
What about watetship down?
QueenBean730@reddit
Being in the uk I def have watched watership down but only once and that shizz traumatised me for sure. Didn’t watch the remake
defective_toaster@reddit
I haven't either. So that particular trauma I don't share with everyone else.
QueenBean730@reddit
Not sure if mine is trauma or not (thinking maybe) but yeah… there’s a few of us! Hugs xxx
Bella_LaGhostly@reddit
I saw the first one in the theater with my mom & experienced Bambi-levels of trauma.
I have never again seen a moment of any Land Before Time movie.
jesusmansuperpowers@reddit
First movie I ever saw in a theater
el_piablo@reddit
Same. It’s actually the first memory I can recall. I was 4.
malachite_13@reddit
Same! Well …actually my parents said they took me to Gremlins when I was a baby but the first one I was old enough to remember was Land Before Time.
CosmicBureaucrat@reddit
I never had one of those t-shirts that change colour.
YourOwnPunkyBrewster@reddit
Hypercolor!! I had one that turned from gray to beige…what terrible colors….but that’s all I could find at the store that day😅
CosmicBureaucrat@reddit
Perfect for boomer cosplay!
Left_Maize816@reddit
Looked like a waste of money. didn't they basically change color 2 minutes after putting them on because of body heat. all day long you'd just be wearing a shirt that didn't change color unless someone put ice on you?
CosmicBureaucrat@reddit
Products of the late eighties/early nineties that vastly oversold their entertainment value or usability? monocle drops in shock ;)

Anyone-9451@reddit
I didn’t even know that was a thing, I did however have snow boots that did I loved those things
-R-o-y-@reddit
Was that a thing?
CosmicBureaucrat@reddit
Very much so
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypercolor
-R-o-y-@reddit
Never even heard of it! I do know the car paint that changes colour when the light changes.
HereWeFuckingGooo@reddit (OP)
Wow, how did you miss the Hypercolor fad? I grew up in a town of 300 people in buttfuck nowhere Australia and even we had them.
sparkletigerfrog@reddit
No loss. All they did was show where you were sweaty 🤢
the_mighty_hetfield@reddit
HyperColor. Same boat, never had one. But judging from the kids who did it wasn't worth it. Started getting washed out really fast.
bskdevil99@reddit
You had to hang dry them, the dryer heat killed the effect.
paisleymanticore@reddit
I always wanted one of those, but alas, me neither.
Relevant-Bit-7394@reddit
Never have i ever watched sixteen candles or fast times at Richmond high.
CaTz_EyE@reddit
I watched Sixteen Candles multiple times before I turned 17. My sister was getting married on my birthday and I wanted to prepare myself for everyone forgetting it. I did get some presents, but it ass pretty much about her. Also, I did not have a hot guy come pick me up in a Porsche. 😭 After that, my sister told me happy birthday a couple of times since. That day became her anniversary I guess and she forgot about me.
Into-the-stream@reddit
Picking her wedding day as your birthday is such a dick move, it says a lot more about her than you.
As someone who also has a narcissist for a sister, I struggled with the hurt from her behaviour for years, and internalized a lot of it as my fault. I didn’t cut off contact, but I don’t interact with her if I can help it. It’s a lot easier on me this way.
Your sister is a douchbag.
JamieC1610@reddit
My sister did it too. She got married on my 20th birthday. I also have a cousin whose anniversary is the day before and one whose is the day after. The perils of a June birthday.
HereWeFuckingGooo@reddit (OP)
I haven't seen Sixteen Candles or Pretty in Pink. Fast Times at Ridgemont High is a great film though, I highly recommend it.
HipHopChick1982@reddit
My mom and dad had it on TV on a Saturday afternoon one time, and asked me to come watch it with them (I was in 10th grade at the time), they really felt like I would love it. 27 years later, it is still one of my favorites and they were absolutely right, I did love it.
HipHopChick1982@reddit
My dad (of all people!) introduced me to Ferris Bueller, the Brat Pack movies, and Fast Times at Ridgemont High in high school (1997-2001). These were some of my favorite movies throughout high school. Keep Titanic and Romeo + Juliet, these movies were way better!
EarlBeforeSwine@reddit
Me either
hacksawomission@reddit
"Richmond High" might be part of why you haven't seen it, if you were looking to.
dewihafta@reddit
Me either. Successfully avoided all of those movies, except for Breakfast Club.
Even with Breakfast Club, I never saw it until I was in my twenties. I had a long weekend by myself, and rented a whole bunch of movies I had specifically avoided, just to see if they were worth the hype.
The big one that weekend was Dirty Dancing. Weirdo that i am, i took great pride in missing out on that one.

Sixteen Candles aged particularly poorly.
morganalefaye125@reddit
I've seen it, but never have I ever liked Titanic
Phil_Da_Thrill@reddit
I’ve never watched I’ve never seen pulp fiction
ChiMara777@reddit
When someone says pulp fiction I always they are talking about the fifth element. I don’t know why, but I’ve never seen either.
hacksawomission@reddit
malachite_13@reddit
Pulp Fiction is fantastic!
SevereBake6@reddit
You should change that. I watched it multiple times and always enjoied it.
Sarah_Femme@reddit
I actually have a story for my NHIE:
NHIE seen the Neverending Story.
I was supposed to go see it, but my cousin saw it the weekend before. Apparently the scene with Artax left him nightmare level scarred, and his mom who took him didn't take it real well, either. Called my mom and told her it was 'too dark' for a children's movie and that was that.
When it came out on video and I asked again to see it, a bit older, she looks dead at me in the middle the grocery store VHS/BETA selection and says >!"No. THE HORSE DIES.!< We aren't getting it."
Most all the other movies I missed, I caught up with at a friend's house over the years. The trauma of your mom telling you the most traumatic scene of a movie from many people's childhood while waiting in line to buy groceries kind of ruined it for me...

turd_furgesonx@reddit
I have a memory of us going to see that on a school field trip. Just like I have a memory of watching the Challenger launch in school. But these days it’s hard to tell if it’s a real memory or something I’ve told myself happened.

Never have I ever seen a Harry Potter movie. Nor read any of the books.
I have played a fair amount of Hogwart's Legacy, though. Go figure that one. I love the lush environments in the game, and fantasy magic is cool. I just never went out of my way to consume any of the other Harry Potter "stuff". Enough of the universe was presented in the day to day, and chatter overheard from acquaintances, that I'm as familiar with the characters as I ever felt I needed to be.

I’m happy to report I finally watched all three back to the future movies from start to finish and now everything makes so much more sense 😂

You're so lucky!
Mine is Star Wars. Though I know exactly what happens in all of them die to the combination of Family Guy, Robot Chicken and osmosis.
Better yet my birthday is May 4th 😆
HereWeFuckingGooo@reddit (OP)
I think I'm almost a little worse in my blasphemy... I've seen all the Star Wars films except the last prequel and the last sequel. I've also still never seen the third Lord of the Rings movie.
Zeke688@reddit
The last prequel is one of the best movies of the entire franchise IMO.
HereWeFuckingGooo@reddit (OP)
I can't get past the obvious green screens. I saw Phantom Menace at the movies when it came out. Then I saw Attack of the Clones on DVD and thought it was terrible. I started watching Revenge of the Sith and it looked like a student film so I stopped watching.
A_Night_Awake@reddit
Please fix this, fellow 82. With that birthday it’s a must.
Nerdmitage@reddit
I have tried but I think just people being so incredibly obsessed with it has made it hard to get into it. It feels a little bit like willingly joining a cult 😆 and I'm definitely not that kind of person so it turns me off!
But I've loved the parodies and Spaceballs and all that. I think after seeing most parodies I'd be less into it as a serious thing. Maybe someday.
01kickassius10@reddit
Best way to approach them is just as a regular sci-fi or fantasy series, if you expect too much you’ll be disappointed regardless.
Also, you share a birthday with 2 of my kids
gabbobbag@reddit
Same. People are incredulous when they find out.

HereWeFuckingGooo@reddit (OP)

I did.
HereWeFuckingGooo@reddit (OP)
Thank god. The first one is still the best. I love the second one but not everyone does. They all kind of go downhill from there.
Rshields_388@reddit
The funny thing is i watched Scary Movie 1 when that came out. So when i was watching Scream, I couldnt really take it seriously. 🤣
6BigZ6@reddit
I don’t consider myself a movie person in any way, but these responses are really making me sad.
