This is our newest unrelenting positivity post.
The state in question is the great state of Wisconsin.
To all our foreign friends give a shout ask questions send praise. To our Americans do the same.
Ask questions, share stories, make jokes. Just remember not to be a jerk.
Recall the famous phrase my grandma invented “if you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say anything that isn’t redemptively funny.”
Stay tuned for 39/50 after this one.
The states are in random order based on my whim at the moment. Today’s whim is cheese curds.

This is my state! I've been waiting! I'll provide some of my favorite facts.
Gaylord Nelson, a Wisconsin governor, founded Earth Day!
We have a state fossil, which is the trilobite!
Speaking of the trilobite, Wisconsin used to be under water, and there are fossils of shells and sea creatures in the bluffs...I've seen them!
Much of southern Wisconsin was steamrolled by the glaciers, but there is a portion that they missed, called the Driftless Area. This region is particularly beautiful imo.
Famous people from Wisconsin: Harry Houdini, Aldo Leopold, Liberace, Frank Lloyd Wright, definitely others that I'm missing

My daughter has a Wisconsin trilobite. Didn’t know it was official. Yet she has one and loves it.

I love it here man. Sunsets on the lake up north, supper clubs, good sports culture, living by Madison, people are generally nice, and beer. Lot’s of beer. If you’re sober this is probably not your state
goblin_hipster@reddit
We're blessed with great football, great baseball, and great basketball.

I like living here. The Driftless Area is the most beautiful part of the Midwest. (I will fight about this.) It's nice to have access to so much high-quality dairy and meat. The Milwaukee Brewers are on a generational tear. Madison has my favorite restaurant in the world. We have some of the best rural healthcare in the country, including a bunch of high-quality nonprofit hospitals. The French settlement patterns along the Fox-Wisconsin Waterway are historically interesting.

I’ve only skirted the northwest part but I did get something from the Benoit cheese haus and it was good
Also the apostle islands are one of my favorite places
Odd-Guarantee-6152@reddit
We moved there for a job and ended up staying years longer than we planned because we loved Madison so much!
Physical-Incident553@reddit
Kwik Trip, Lake Michigan, Green Bay, the driftless region.
Squidgie1@reddit
Door county!

Born in MN, grew up in WI, 30+ years in Chicago, and now in purgatory in Southern IN. WI will always be my home.

I also want to add that Wisconsin Dells is the water park capital of the world. It's a classic tourist trap town with amusement parks, water parks, souvenir shops, etc. And it's very close to beautiful scenic campgrounds and hiking spots.
Wisconsin's natural beauty is underrated imo. Of course I am biased because I grew up here. Conservation groups have restored some of the original oak savanna and prairie in southern Wisconsin.

The first time I (65f) rode in a helicopter was at the Wisconsin Dells when I was around five (we lived in Chicagoland at the time). It's one of my core memories. Good times!
Wisconsin also produced my husband, so I love it for that reason, too! I've visited with him a few times and have always felt at home there.

I travelled to Wisconsin from the east coast once in the summer.
They say the grass is always greener but holy shit the grass was literally so green.
A lot of it was pretty clean to, it looked very nice.
mickeltee@reddit
Y’all sure can drink!! And spotted cow is really good.

Love wisconsin. All the cheese, beer, and sausage I can eat. Great people. Great weather (yes, I'm weird). I still have some family up there and I'd love to move there.
Icy_Consideration409@reddit
Like the cheese curds.
Not the beer.
Packers are alright.
Madison is great.
Can’t not like Fonzy.

Moved to Wisconsin 8 years ago. The Driftless region is something incredibly unique in the Midwest (possibly the world?). Im surprised there's not been a national park carved out of one of the wonderful state parks in the area.
MoonieNine@reddit
My extended family and I from different states spent a week by a lake in Door County and we really enjoyed it.

The Milwaukee Irish Festival is awesome.

Best state! I miss Wisconsin
Kingsolomanhere@reddit
I have many fond memories of lazy afternoons fishing on a 500 acre lake near Spooner Wisconsin. The cabin was so isolated that even the locals didn't know it was there. It's definitely stepping back in time to a slower pace of living
SallyAmazeballs@reddit
Supposedly over 600 kinds of cheese are made in Wisconsin, and my life's goal is to eat all of them at least once. I can't find a comprehensive list, though. I just have to keep tracking down new cheese every year.
Imaginary_Ladder_917@reddit
A worthy goal

I was at a wedding and the butter packets said they were from a farm in Wisconsin.
"This is probably good butter." I thought to myself. I was right.
Also, the best lemon meringue pie I ever had was from some little diner in Northern Wisco.
ITrCool@reddit
- incredible dairy culture, including some awesome statewide dairy fairs. I went to one a few years ago and had some of the best breakfast I’d ever had
- friendly folks!
- beautiful rolling hills
- home to the Green Bay Packers, first NFL team to win the Super Bowl

I regret not getting to the Mars Cheese Castle when I was a truck driver. Truck stop was one of the first accessible coming north out of Chicago, and not that far away.
I always thought the Wisconsin accent was incredibly charming and sweet.
The countryside is really different from what I’m used to. It’s really undulating in some places.
And coming back to being a trucker, salute to Kwik Trip. Some are small, but they’re all over, so they all kind of relieve each other. It was one of my fav states to drive/work in.
DNSGeek@reddit
I always remember driving past the Mars Cheese Castle. Never went inside though.

I live near it, good cheese, candy, beer & wine, a little restaurant and bakery. Decent way to spend some time off the road when traveling 👍🏼
