Some Ukrianian parliament members are calling for Zelensky to surrender to Russia amid rumors of a coming Russian invasion from Belarus towards Kyiv, arguing they have no defense. Funny how quickly Kyiv elites surrender when city life becomes slightly uncomfortable and they're on the front line.

Listen to one of today's episodes of Military Summary channel on YouTube, which has been a pretty good war summary channel throughout this Ukraine war, at about 9 minutes in:
He found news from Ukraine that 5-6 members of Ukraine's parliament are calling for Zelensky to surrender to Russia because they have no defense if Russia invades from the north via Belarus. There are government and military officials in Ukraine saying they have intelligence that Russia is going to invade from Belarus.
Some people bring up that Russia only needs to to go a few kilometers into Ukraine to effectively have fire control over Kyiv, which would basically disable the city. So Russia doesn't need to occupy the city, just park outside it and regularly hit targets.
I'm surprised that even 1 member of parliament would panick over this, as Ukraine has had multiple cities taken from it and the Ukrainian political elites have accepted losses of one city after another, so I would think Kyiv would just feel like any other city getting taken by Russians.
But I think this reveals that Ukrainian elites were living comfortably in Kyiv and they know of no other place to live in Ukraine, and now that their only livable city is under threat, they have nowhere comfortable to go.
This is an interesting drama unfolding.
I also have to wonder why the Russians allowed the elites to be so comfortable for so long in Kyiv when it's this easy to chase them out, with merely a rumor of parking forces some distance from the city enough to scare them into surrender.
There have been people from Russia saying since 2022 that the Russian establishment is allowing the Kyiv elites to remain in power because they're stupid leaders who will lead the Ukrainian Army to their deaths on the front line and military logistics will be sloppy, which will lead to an eventual Russian victory.
This explanation explains thigns quite well, in my view.

Remember in March 2022 when Kiev was on the front line and the "Kiev Elite" said "I need ammo, not a ride"
But sure. Let's go with your wall of text agenda post.

They agreed to Russian terms at that time
Global-Welder5333@reddit
Their terms to pack up their shit and leave?

Ukrainians agreed to pack up their shit and leave donbass
Global-Welder5333@reddit
Donbas is within the recognized borders of Ukraine, as is Crimea. Pack up your shit and leave, war ends the next day.

lol Kyiv was not on the front line when that happened, as Zelensky and the Kyiv elites came to agreement with Russia to a ceasefire, then the Russian troops who surrounded Kyiv packed up and left, heading southeast to Donbas.
Then as the Russians were on their way to Donbas, The USA ordered Boris Johnson of the UK to immediately fly to Kyiv and order Zelensky to betray the agreement he made with Russia. This is when the USA promised Zelensky a full NATO commitment, which gave Zelensky the confidence he needed to betray the agreement he just made with Russia.
Then the USA ordered Zelensky to get on camera, with the Russians already gone, and read from the script handed to him that said, "I don't need a ride. I need ammunition".
The Russians could have just turned around and taught Kyiv elites a lesson, but Putin yawned, continued on to Donbas, and proceeded to wipe out the Ukrainian army. The rationale for leaving the Kyiv elites in place was that those elites are terrible at making military decisions, which means they're great people to keep in power.
Now it appears that Russia is ending them. I think it's because of the drone and missile strikes deep into Russia and directed at critical infrastructure. NATO should have never allowed that. But NATO did, and now Russia is forced to respond to these reckless escalatory strikes far outside Ukraine.
You're going to see the cowardliness of Kyiv elites soon in a way that's undeniable. I'm genuinely interested to see what you think then.

A yes, the “goodwill gesture” from Kiyv, then Kharkiv, and then Kherson. Lol

The Russians have been more focused on wiping out NATO's army then gaining ground. And it's worked well.
The U.S. is now too low on ammo to stop Iran from controlling Hormuz, and this is after the U.S. is trying to abandon Ukraine, forcing Europeans to pay a trillion dollars to take over the war against Russia.
Russia isn't merely demilitarizing Ukraine, which is its official goal. Russia is effectively demilitarizing all of NATO in Ukraine.
Now NATO is down to drone operators in Ukraine. Even U.S. media acknowledges the Ukrainian military doesn't have many ground troops or equipment remaining, that the focus is overwhelmingly on drone operators who fly quad-copters into Russian soldiers and equipment.
These drones are NATO's last line of defense holding back Russian troops.
And the U.S. media admits that the Russians are good at hunting down and killing Ukraine's drone operators, forcing NATO to continually renew the supply of human drone operators.
Russia, meanwhile, has an army that's larger now than at the beginning of this war and will overwhelming stockpiles of ammo.

Can you provide a link to any kind of announcement of a ceasefire being declared in 2022?
patmcirish@reddit (OP)
It was done quickly then betrayed quickly, so the only thing the U.S. media reported on was that Russian troops were leaving Kyiv.
Though the U.S. media didn't say "leaving" Kyiv, they said "fled" Kyiv. Not only that, but spread fake news that the Russian military headed back north into Belarus. In fact, the Russian forces moved southeast to Donbas, where they proceeded to annihilate the NATO/Ukraine military.
Just look for any western mainstream articles about Russia fleeing Kyiv and Ukraine's great victory over Russia in Kyiv.

This could be the beginning of Ukraine's collapse.

Yea the real Russian army is just coming… coping much?

There is no reliable evidence for any of these claims, lol, nor are they plausible. Dude….

Russia was in a position of not knowing if they should keep pushing forward and get pushed back more from Europe.
Now that after Trump visited China, then Putin visited China to confirm if they have the backing from China, deals were made. That is why Putin is now pulling out the big boys to rain on Ukraine.
Hope this explains why parliament wants to surrender.

There would be an obvious buildup of forces which has yet to be seen before that could happen

Dima does a respectable job of mapping and reporting frontline events. but he can get a little ahead of himself, especially where prognostication or geopolitics are concerned.
