C8 Corvette ZR1X vs Bugatti Chiron (Roll race & Drag race)

Wild times we live in. Corvettes now facing million dollar hyper cars. C8 platform has to be one of the best sports car platforms to ever exist. Conditions could of been better; both cars could (and have) gone faster. This gets me real curious since the ECUs are cracked how fast a downpipe + tune ZR1X will be. A reg ZR1 can make over 1100 whp with super basic bolt ons, so just imagining the extra grip + 186 HP gain from the electric motor is gonna be wild. I won't be surprised if the C8 platform finally hits 7s in the 1/4 mile. Only thing holding it back is the Tremec TCMs still being locked.

Those Corvettes are god damn impressive.

With the HP numbers those cars make, I would like to see them do a longer distance than a quarter mile.

They're just starting to get into their stride when they have to start slowing down.

I’m sorry, how does a car with a flatplane crank LT7 that revs to 8,000 rpm and two Wuhan whistles giving it 1,250 horsepower lack soul? Thing is a banshee and puts down stupid lap times. The worst part of this car is the brake-by-wire and EPAS making steering numb.

Dragsters lack soul. Most race cars lack soul.

There are plenty of incredible, capable vehicles that have nothing behind their capability. The priority isn’t engagement, it’s speed.

Neither of these cars is a better street car for their power, and neither is a focused track weapon for their street legality. Both rationally and irrationally, they make no compelling argument for their existence.

Everything lacks soul. Dedicated race cars lack soul. Daily driveable super cars and hyper cars that are track capable lack soul.

Your entire premise is inconsistent. Go drive an electric car to the mall and be done, then. I don’t know why you’re even in this subreddit if all you want is an appliance.

An Elan doesn’t lack soul. A 205 Rallye doesn’t lack soul. An E12 M535i doesn’t lack soul. A GTO Engineering 250 GT SWB recreation doesn’t lack soul. A 105 Giulia sedan doesn’t lack soul, and an Alfetta doesn’t lack soul. An E39 M5 doesn’t lack soul.

You are completely contradicting your own premise. You want a homologation special like the 205 Rallye, but you argued most race cars lack soul, anyway. So does it have soul because it's a race car or because it's a road car that is based on a race car?

Go buy a Miata. They're great cars and have soul.

Don't think I've seen a Chiron sprin their tires as much as this one did in this race. Strip conditions must have been brutal. Goes to show just how good the ZR1X's traction control is.

I saw Jay Leno in his ZRX1 today, that was cool. I was driving to work in the canyons and saw it pass the other way, C8 with a crazy looking spoiler and I thought huh, I think that was Leno. Just did a search and it was his car.

Small world. I was driving home 2 weeks ago and got onto the freeway right next to this ZR1X, it was the only one I’ve seen. I ended up driving 22 miles with it all the way to the exit right next to mine, I guess they live in the fancy neighborhood up on the mountain.
