Are there a lot of places, streets, etc. in the UK named after Canada?

Hi everyone,
Canadian here. Are there are a lot of places (localities, even streets and buildings) in the UK that are named after Canada?
I know that One Canada Square is a notable London landmark and one of the tallest buildings in the country, and it is named after Canada (obviously).
Are there other places or things in the UK that are named after my home and native land?
I'd love to hear examples.
Thanks!

I was in Canada Water yesterday, nice.

Yes I live in a street named after a Canadian city

If I rightly remember I stopped off at a pub in Canada for dinner one evening and they were doing a quiz night, there weren’t that many tables with teams on but they were spread out throughout the pub, so there were big gaps between them.
Somewhere between Southampton and Bath.
TurbulentContext@reddit
There's bits of Canada that were named after the UK to cause further confusion.

A former work colleague of mine once booked a hotel room in Hamilton, Ontario instead of Hamilton, Scotland. The poor receptionist didn't have a clue who she was when she turned up!
Rico1983@reddit
Isn't there a suburb of Toronto called Swansea?
Istobri@reddit (OP)
It’s a neighborhood of Toronto. It used to be an independent village, but it was annexed by the city of Toronto in 1953.
Istobri@reddit (OP)
Oh, most of the places in Canada outside Quebec were probably named after places and people from the UK, and probably Ireland too. Quebec probably has some too, although most of the places there have French names, since it's the only province where French is the primary language.
Madruck_s@reddit
Thete was also a Canadian city named Berlin but it got changed during WW1 go figure.
Istobri@reddit (OP)
Yes indeed. That city happens to be my hometown.

Not to mention Chelsea, Hull and Wakefield, Quebec.

There's an area in the north of Cardiff known as "the colonies", with a Newfoundland Road and Canada Road.

Seems Canada has a "hamlet" in Alberta called Cardiff

There’s a building near me named Tim Hortons. Is that anything?
Istobri@reddit (OP)
It’s a national coffee and doughnut chain in Canada. They also have quite a few locations in the US. I didn’t know they had locations in the UK as well.
It’s portrayed as a national institution in Canada, although admittedly their quality has really gone down in recent years.

I know. I was being facetious. They’re probably your biggest export after lumber and delightful comedic actors.

There's also a New York in Lincolnshire.
petethepete2000@reddit

smeetebwet@reddit
The Tyneside New York was actually named after the American city after the British captured it in 1777
Grumblefloor@reddit
The US New York was named to honour the then Duke of York, rather than the place itself. He later became James II.
petethepete2000@reddit

There's an industrial and innovation park in Southampton, UK called Adanac Park. It's named after Adanac Farm, a farm that previously occupied the site. Local heritage records and lore suggest the farm was named by a family who had emigrated to Canada but later returned to the Southampton area. So they named it Canada Farm, but spelled it backwards to indicate their journey. One of the first organisations on the site was Ordnance Survey, the national mapping agency of GB.

Yeah, specifically the Howden bit of Livingston. No idea why.
LowProtection8515@reddit
East Kilbride has the same.
When the Scottish new towns were built they had to come up with names for dozens and dozens of new streets. Often they picked a theme for a neighbourhood and at the time there was a lot of Scottish migration to Canada so Canada must have been a common theme.
mrnico7@reddit
That makes sense, Craigshill in Livi has streets named after Australian cities
eekamouse4@reddit
East Kilbride, a new town in Scotland just outside Glasgow, has a whole area with streets named after Canadian places:
Vancouver Drive, Winnipeg Drive, Montreal Park, Yukon Terrace, Quebec Drive, Alberta Avenue, Banff Place, St Lawrence Park & others. 🇨🇦
There’s other areas with streets named after Australian & New Zealand places too. 🇦🇺 🇳🇿
fbruk@reddit
Yet oddly EK I'd twimmrd with a town in Denmark
eekamouse4@reddit
These are the older areas named for commonwealth countries, before twinning. There is a newer area, after twinning, with streets that are named after Danish places: Ballerup Terrace, Odense Court, Malov Court & Tivoli Court & others.
Paul17717@reddit
And an area named after ducks, which is the only reason I know any species of duck beyond Mallard.
EK is a low bar to have streets, off the top of my head.
Denmark related stuff cos of Ballerup Canada NZ Aus Ayrshire villages (east mains) Highland villages (west mains) Lake District lakes (stewartfield) London theatres (high rises) Lochs (stl) Rivers (high rises) Trees (white hills or greenhills?) Inventors (Murray?) Border towns (garden hall?)
Must be a million more. I worked for a taxi office before the internet and staring at EK maps was my entertainment

I know of one place here in Lincolnshire 'named after' Canada, but everything else named places in Canada - let me explain.
There is a track in a town not too far from me called 'Canada Lane'. It's reportedly called that because it was the top fields here that were allocated for export sheep to... Canada. The town holds the record for Britains largest sheep fair, so this kind of makes sense, as this was done up at the fleece inn pub which these fields are very close too.
However, that town is called Caistor. There is also a Caistor in Ontario, somewhere west of niagra falls I think. This doesn't seem that interesting until you start looking at the surrounding settlement names in Canada and then look out for them in the area of Lincolnshire, UK, surrounding Caistor... just to name a few we have: Grimsby, Lincoln, Pelham (name of the local lord), Binbrook, Glanford (Brigg). These are all hyper local to a very small area here in the UK. A little wider afield in this same area Canada has Cambridge, Dover, Norwich, London, Stratford...
I have never properly dug into this but I was once told that it was because land allocations were made in Canada via auction or what not and they wanted the lots to sound familiar to those bidding. I don't know if this has legs or not but it is completely 'bizarre' that a very small area of Canada shares a number of names very familiar to a very small area of the UK.
