Which part of MK do you think gets completely overlooked even by people who've lived here for years?

Everyone knows the centre, Xscape, the Bowl. But there's a lot of MK that most residents have never really spent time in. Stony Stratford feels like a completely different town, Newport Pagnell has its own thing going on, Woburn Sands is quietly lovely. Would love to know what people here think is genuinely underrated.

I know a shocking amount of people who grew up in MK and have never been to Bletchley park.

I used to work up the city centre... down towards the station for a software company. During the warmer months, I used to ride my bike to work and park it up in those lockers down near the police station. until they started getting broken into almost daily.
After that I had to use the car all year round and even buying those parking permits was getting more expensive... Used to cost £1 a day... then they extended the exclusion zones and you had to start parking, further and further away.
I was relieved when I got made redundant and went to work at places with free parking again.
It was the cost of parking that put me off going there... if you want to attract foot traffic. you don't make it easier and cheaper for people to go to retail parks on the outskirts of towns.

I grew up not even knowing about Bletchley Park until it started to come out in the 90's as a teenager.
I only found out maybe 10yrs after she died, that my gran worked there during the war... as some sort of housekeeper, not as part of the code breakers.

You get in for half price if you're local, and you can use the same ticket as many times as you want for the next year.

Yeah same and I grew up down the road from there.

I grew up in Wolverton from, born in 79... So I knew MK when it was much smaller and a majority of the estates hadn't been built yet. I saw them going up and we'd visit Stony, Newport, Woburn all the time. Not just the high streets but the parks and river walks. I used to ride my bike from Wolverton to Haversham and then down the river to Stony and back up to Wolverton.
As kids, we'd ride our bikes down the canal to Cosgrove and go swimming when they had a pool (no idea if they still do as not been there since about 92).
I lived 100yrds from what is now Milton Keynes museum and used to help out down there on open days. Way back when the site used to be accessed from Stacey Avenue rather than the H2. I remember skating at the Agora in Wolverton and Rollers near Bletchley. Going to the Point to watch movies as a kid.
I'd ride my bike everywhere, redways take you all over the city. I remember biking to the Black Horse pub along the old railway line and canal with a group of friends on a weekend... getting pissed and riding home again afterwards so that we could avoid driving... and spend more on beer without the need for 2 or 3 taxis to take us all home again afterwards.
Growing up in MK was great... there are days I miss it, as I moved away 4yrs ago. But I now live near to sea and mountains and it's the quiet, peaceful life I wish I'd had all along. MK was great, but it got too noisy and too crowded for me. I actually started to avoid the busy places as much as possible... travelling out of town to other retail parks in other towns more than I visited those in MK.
But I love my peaceful life here more... The only thing I miss about MK now is the ease of access to certain things... Costco, Ikea, the theatre and some other stores that we don't have here. It's 75 miles to the nearest costco, 80 or 90 to Ikea and even the nearest M&S is 30 miles away.
But we have more smaller locally run businesses... proper butchers and bakers and huge amount of artisan food producers and the amount of reasonably priced cafes and restaurants in an area about twice the size of MK... with about a fifth of the population is enormous. It's a popular caravan and walking/hiking destination with some excellent beaches.... and castles... castles everywhere.
MK was great... wonderful place to grow up... this is better.

Many would be surprised to learn how much rural land and towns the Milton Keynes borough has.
